Have faith and wait, SG said that there are two in COP, someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe ET has a COP if he re signs as he is already here, so must be someone new

In order for a player to be in the cop
There must be a signing/signings and since there has been
No signings , how can a player/ players be in the cop?
If im wrong let me know.

Clubs tend to announce signings after the COP.

yes i understand that , but if there are players in the COP , as some have stated,
why hasnt there been any mention of us signing anyone prior to them going in to COP.
(if that makes sense)

i think tigers will be 14/15 next year and better in 2019

Yeah. wel take awhile. We have a better side tgan this year. But not a great deal better. Looking at other sides we will still be low on the ladder.

Lets just hope our style of footy is better to watch than it has been.

FWIW I'm not hearing anything about players who are signed and in COP.

what does COP mean

Once a contract is signed and registered with the NRL both parties have a 10 day Cooling of Period (COP)..to back out for whatever reason..

This replaced the out Rd 13 rule ala the DCE backflip..

The COP can be waived if agreed to by both parties..

I agree with comments that the suggested fire sale is likely to be a furphy. My guess is that possibly only 3 or 4 clubs are going to be above the cap when it is finally disclosed and then by less than $500k each. If that is correct we'll see those clubs try to offload a couple of $200k to $250k players each. To me that means around 6 to 8 average players are likely to be released as a result of cap overspends. I'd like to be wrong but will be surprised if I am. My worry is that we are 2 or 3 forwards short of a good pack for 2018 and with the quality left available we won't get them.

are clubs required to have a full roster, if so then clubs in trouble can't let go 2 or 3 lower paid players to get under the cap as then they will be short of the required numbers with no money to sign even cheaper replacements.
if clubs must have a full roster then they will have to move on a well paid player to firstly get under the cap limit and secondly leave enough money to sign someone (cheap cheap) to make up the required amount of players.
if they don't have to sign a full squad, then you've just wasted your time reading this post.

As far as i know clubs have to have 30 players in their top squad - I'm not sure any club would have yet sorted out their squad of 30 - we certainly haven't.

I know what you mean, theres normally talk/rumours of signings before official announcements. We've been linked to a couple of players though, it could be one of them. Boyle, latimore etc.
Or as you say, it could all be crap.

That's true of the established players. Alex Twal came out of the blue but two games in seems a solid buy.

Anything to report mate?

Nothing at the moment.

Been a bit quite lately hasn't it.

Normally there is not much signing news, we've had a lot of signing news the past few months, it's gone back to normal and people are getting funny, as if we won't have a team to run out next year, as if we have to sign everyone good right here, right now, as if there aren't any players we can look at next year.

We should make a play for Cronk. I totally disagree with what's being said above. Cronk I think would work well in a struggling team with the way he rallies the team. Look at Origin, if QLD are getting done, he helps them rally to a victory. I don't know how he would go if week in week out his team are loosing. But for tight games he has done the job (although Melbourne don't win when it is tight).

This interests me as a psychological concept.

Look at Wayne Bennett, everyone knew he was good but also knew he was in a good system (that he built really, but that Brisbane have unique advantages). He went to Dragons and turned them around = expanded his aura, really he must be a coaching genius! Then he went to Newcastle and the same approach didn't work - so is Bennett really good, or only really good in the right situation?

Des Hasler has killed his reputation recently, he did so much as Manly and then immediately at Bulldogs, but his approach appears to be wearing thin, it appears to have had a used-by date.

So for Cronk, he's very similar to Bennett. If he joins a good club, nobody will be surprised if he does well. And everyone knows he does well at all levels, but Cooper Cronk has NEVER played in a bad side. Perhaps he's never played in a bad side because he himself is so good, but we know Melbourne was already a successful club before Cronk came through, so the counter-argument is that Melbourne helped Cronk achieve his status.

If Cronk joins an ordinary club and fails, it dents his aura. But if he joins them and succeeds, he boosts his status.

Do you go the easy route and 80% glory, or tough route and 100% glory?

But the other bloke on here, supposedly in the know, says there are 2 in the COP! Who are us plebs supposed to believe??

I'd say go with the one who isn't a chronic attention seeker…or just ignore it all and wait and see what happens.
