Rorters are using young Flanagan as an escape goat for poor run in the NRL finals .. I reckon they will be keen to move him on so they can go with young Lachlan Lam or whiz kid Sam Walker. Flanagan is a decent goal kicker .. shall i dare suggest we move Brooks on, and have a shot at Flanagan .. ??

I take him in a heart beat

Brooks fans are always saying if he was on the Roosters team he would be a good player.

Make the deal Maguire, ill take Flanagan please.

would they like Walters

Pearce would be a horrible signing for us. He was diabolical for the Knights in the second half of the season. Im pretty sure the only good games he played all year were against us.

I’d rather not see Moses leave Parra. They are a match made in heaven. If the Parramatta Eels had a face, it would be Mitch Moses

Flanagan has no running game because he is as slow as a wet week. But despite us having absolutely no speed except for Kepaoa and Brooks, you want to recruit him? The Roosters I bet will be glad to unload him onto us.

Flanagan couldn’t even stand out in a star studded side. Why would you want him here?

Goal kicking and upside.

And his dad on the books assisting Maguire build something out at Concord.

Each to their own.

You won't need a goalkicker because you won't be scoring tries!

Flanagan is nowhere near an NRL level no 7,and his sole asset is goalkicking.
Brooks was nowhere near an NRL level no7 in 2020,and his sole asset is his defence..but he was once, and we need to give him a season to get back there without the Benji factor.
No more duds
BTW,theres a real scarcity of no7s in what has become a power game these days..gotta be real special to stand out(Cleary/Williams/Reynolds are about the only ones).Youve gotta wonder whether the game has changed so much that u mite be better with a Douhi at 7??

I can handle any more of those excuses for Brooks, they keep coming however.

What excuses . He had 10 bad weeks after 2 and half years of solid play , which lead to a dally m halfback if the year , and our best and fairest last year . Take your anti brooks glasses off and have an actual look around

I suppose what the supporters are saying he had an opportunity to step up when Benji was dropped and he could not game manage.

I have always been a Brooks supporter but i am starting to question his style of play although you do need forwards actually going forward to compliment.

It will be a new era next season so in hindsight willing to give one more season and see what transpires, next season will be make or break for him with no more excuses.

Are there any decent half backs to sign available on the market?
I don't believe WT and/or Parra can win a premiership with their current half backs. They both appear to lack qualities required to lead their respective teams in big moments. Don't have an answer just general observations.

I think this is very true.

I heard on a podcast way back that a transferring player is most likely to adopt the culture of the destination.

We have been the career killer / retirement destination in previous years.

We are changing now and this will be even more evident in 21 and 22 as the club sorts out those who have no work ethic.

**I hope we the fans and the club dont loose its nerve and we stick with the current direction (Coach).**

Everyone is forgetting that november is the what the Tigers are waiting for re signings. At this time Penrith,Broncos,Canterbury and others will release many players as will all clubs.Players in the top 4 clubs on low contracts will be after more dollars and will have to be released owing to salary cap. Penrith and Broncos especially have great juniors that will want a crack at first grade.I think the Tigers will have a plan to bid at this time

Flanagan defensively is horrendous compared to Brooks. has no running game and struggled to play off the back of a forward pack that is about 30 times better than ours, yet there's people that would happily trade him in for Brooks. I think Flanagan has the makings of a decent half but sticking him in a side like ours would kill his career before it even began.

Only one team can win a premiership each year and it takes more than a half back of any standard to achieve it. Should every team that is not successful be moving on their half backs because they havnt led their team to a premiership? If halfback was the only identified weakness in our squad well then I could see some merit but when people are scratching to identify who is better to replace him the logic seems nonsensical.

This is basically my point . If someone emerges and takes the job , I’m ok with it , but there just isn’t enough decent halfbacks around , of which brooks is. Is that going to deliver us a premiership , it’s not looking good , but he’s not crap . He’s pretty good actually .

I cannot understand why Packer wants to stay another year instead of being medically retired. He has little hope of getting a new contract in 12 mths time and it would help the Tigers recruite some talent. Also with Reynolds i would pay half his contact to clear our books and raid young stars at Broncs,Penrith,Parra etc.
