Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Mcintyre will be a miss, I can't see us bringing in a better quality of player, for the money that Sam would of been on. Considering we have limited cap space, we still need to add a fair few bodies to the squad.

I like Madge and I think he’s a good coach , but does he tick the box in getting players in , WELL the jury’s put . Then I look at teams like the knights they run last for years yet they attracted class players , the titans never out of the bottom yet look what they have signed , the warriors another bottom feeder yet they sign better players than us , and the dogs with all there in fighting they sign a new coach and they seem to be signing players . So my point is do u need a coach who pulls players , rather than a out and out coach

I get its annoying to lose McIntyre if he is gone. But you don't pay over pay for him to me he looked like another Elijah Taylor like work horse. I loved et but truthfully i personally would love the club to go away from the ets, eisenhuth type players and invest in the big aggressive boppers.

Only time will tell.
He certainly has put together an impressive recruitment structure and as mentioned already the results that he should be judged on will not be in evidence until the last two yers of his contract.
So far I like what I see but early days.

Re JAC,L mitchell,Roberts etc. These are not the sharpest tools in the shed,Melbourne is not an NRL town and is a bubble, with strong guidlines, would JAC acheived the same in Sydney?Easts let LM go for a reason,- club culture. The outside influence of dubious friends on young minds can be a big influence.Madge is trying to bring good cuiture as in Easts and Storm.Because of Storms location it has been a blessing in disguise.Back to Sydney may not benefit some players.

What is good culture? I always believed leaders can lead all personality types.

Leaders build good teams. That’s moving people on and getting the right ones in

Dugan and Moylan are still being shopped around. I can smell a big signing coming.

They’ll sell it as ‘tigers sign former origin players with a wealth of experience’

Because they don't add any value to what we already have.
We would be spending cap money for nothing.

Its like going to the corner store and you have existing can of tuna at home, there is one with a use by date of today and another that's damaged do you really need to purchase more Tuna ????? Pass Pass Pass

Then you leave the existing Tuna in the can don't give it an opportunity and it goes out in the Bin (Another club) unused.

I think they are related to John West?

I rest my case with Mcintyre that has been signed by the Titans.
We really have a dysfunctional CEO.

Why is it that any good juniors that sign are kudos to Hartigan and Madge, but when it goes pear shaped it is the CEO's fault.

Serious question, who is responsible for managing the cap and drawing a line of the max value of a player in terms of what we will offer them?

According to interviews there is a panel that makes the decision, which has the senior members of the football department and Pascoe on it. One of their data points is an analysis of the player value statistically, which suggests fair value for them.

This is a great point. Any good thing that happens Pascoe never gets any credit but he sure gets blamed for all the bad stuff ?

The CEO manages the Cap and reports that to the board it would be one of his KPI's.

I am not giving credit either to Madge/Hartigan if they are also the let Mcintrye go, i blame all three.

So what does the recruitment manager or football manager do. Tell Pascoe to have a look at this guy & Pascoe decides (based on his football knowledge) that the guy is worth 300k?

I am not sure his influence over the playing roster stretches that far.

1st we retain players that come through our systems as a priority that perform and offer a fair deal.
That has nothing to do with recruitment we already have them on the roster.

Pascoe has done a good job off the field in terms of making the business sustainable, but in nearly every aspect the football department has sucked. I no longer buy the argument that he has no accountability for on-field performance, and I wonder how many CEOs ppl can think of that have 0 involvement in or oversight of the core business of their company?

It is difficult to discuss on the forum (in recruitment threads at least) as people either defend or attack him blindly, but he does receive plenty of praise too when deserved.

That is a little disparaging of Camroux and McIntyre. There are quite a few supporters who take an interest in the progression of our juniors and young players. Camroux is one of our own very good juniors. McIntyre was one of the few shining lights in comparison to much more highly paid players in our squad such as Leilua, J, Mbye, Packer and Reynolds.
