It is a shame about Camroux. Hartigan is doing a great job but we really need a youth development manager like Matt Parish or the young mastermind Lee Malkoun. Both are great people managers and you wouldn't see future stars like Camroux leave if this was the case.

But he was signed for three years according to that article. Can someone explain how his departure is possible?

They’re not really gonna deny a teenager playing Flegg if they ask for a release surely

So he received a better offer or a development contract?

We’re not a charity.

Imagine he goes to the media about not getting a release to be with his family, tigers are the worst club on earth then. Plenty of talented teenagers around don’t need to create drama by refusing to release one of them

Same thing happened with Paseka.

I have no idea was just taking hypothetically

We need to become a team that is juniors based. We can't rely on signings. Look at the panthers they were meh couple of years ago now they are runners up. Almost there whole team are juniors.

Who cares, shouldn’t release our good talent. It’s stupid.

Re JAC,L mitchell,Roberts etc. These are not the sharpest tools in the shed,Melbourne is not an NRL town and is a bubble, with strong guidlines, would JAC acheived the same in Sydney?Easts let LM go for a reason,- club culture. The outside influence of dubious friends on young minds can be a big influence.Madge is trying to bring good cuiture as in Easts and Storm.Because of Storms location it has been a blessing in disguise.Back to Sydney may not benefit some players.

What is good culture? I always believed leaders can lead all personality types.

You know that is not true mate.

You don't always get to chose those you lead, but you are expected to lead nonetheless and perform.

That's true but if your statement was true, a good leader would never have to dismiss or sack anyone. A good leader also knows when someone doesn't have the ability, temperament, desire, want or personality to work towards those goals. Sometimes good leadership can overcome those things but sometimes it can not.

Thar's true, but in some organisations you don't have the option to dismiss them. That can be viewed as a failure of leadership. There are a number of variations but essentially it is 'there are no bad soldiers, but bad leadership'. I agree with this almost code.

If as a leader I put someone into a role who didn't want the job, didn't have the skills for the job, was not motivated to learn or improve and then I left the leadership role. Under your statement it would be the person who replaces me poor leadership when that person fails.

I have led in organisations where you don't get complete say over who you employ and don't really have the ability to dismiss people, I know how difficult it is to lead people who don't want to be led or who don't believe in the direction you are going. Sometimes good leadership can overcome that, sometimes the attitude and personality can make that virtually impossible.

It makes no sense that we would release one of our top juniors and the son of a Balmain legend where the whole family bleeds black and gold, when he's under contract and ticks all the boxes of a player we desperately need! Again, unless there's a bigger fish in his position that's been reeled in and his pathway is cut. Then and only then, does it make sense to let him explore other opportunities.

We seem to be signing a multitude of young guys who will probably get a crack at NRL over the next 2 to 3 years. Added to this the batch of good juniors coming through. Not all of them will stay. The biggest hurdle I see for us over the next couple of years is identifying the cream of the crop and retaining them. Too often we have either made the wrong choices or been asleep at the wheel and let some top young talent move on.

It kind of does though . There’s a clear pathway to first grade at the knights . Pearce is old , they had to bring in a 35 year old because they have no halves . Watson is meh , Mann is meh , they have tex hoy , who is a fullback , and yea no one. There’s an opportunity to play first grade as early as 2022. Then you have us, we have Brooks , mbye on big money , madden who is highly rated , we apparently have Laurie , and are chasing burton . No one mentioned is above the age of 26 . There’s no pathway here . There just isn’t . And I know many of you don’t rate Brooks , madden and Mbye , but that doesn’t change the fact they will all be in and around first grade . What if the knights offered him a 2021 development contract . As far as I know that’s a guarranteed top 30 spot , once that contact runs out .

Exactly !

Really can’t see how many on here rate madden , when we last seen him play in cant cup he was lucky to hold his spot , sorry but he is plain average .

We have a pathways team in place now, which should get this heading in the right direction

I like the people we have put into pathways roles, these roles are about educating players and coaches as well to ensure they have an understanding of what is required of an NRL player early in their development.

The next season this offseason and next will be the purge on the club. Madge being extended will see players that have not bought in leave and salary cap space open up. I think we will struggle until then seems everything is being timed to be in place a season after the COE opens and so does salary cap.

I agree with what you have written. It would be nice for the Club to come out and make a statement to supporters.
WTs don't need to lose juniors of this quality.
