Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We have cash to spend now in 2021 and a lot more in 2022. As much as we are not a “destination” club we are one of the few left without a recognised long term fullback on “fullback money” the next quality #1 that emerges we will be in the running. Between Packer and Reynolds we have $1.5m in salary cap currently sitting in reserve grade that will be available for 2022. I think over the next 12 months we will start to land some meaningful signings like a Chrighton or a JAC. We just have to keep picking the right names to go after and eventually $ will win out

Personally I wouldn’t waste the time on Mansour even if he would bring some leadership to the squad (noffa, Alohai, Douhie, LL are the emerging leaders and Tamou is coming in as a “winner” to presumably become captain and take the pressure off). James Robert’s is definitely worth a chance particularly because I think our club doesn’t have the party boy culture that seems to be his downfall. An honest coach like Madge and a last chance contract is probably the perfect situation

With Suaalii going to chooks, I'd imagine Madge is going hard for Crichton.
I reckon we will get him.

Even if Boyd Cordner was to play on and Angus was on the market, he'd just laugh at us because we are a joke.

No doubt we have been a basketcase but give it time - we seem to be striving ofr longer-term goals rather than quick fixes. It's very frustrating given the last ten years but let's see what transpires next year. If we can form some foundations of stability it will increase our appeal to players wanting to come.

Players like money offer them more money than other clubs and they might come it’s pretty simple we haven’t had any wins lately but they will come our way eventually

Roster spots have always been more important than money. I really can't see us allowing quality juniors to walk without there being a better option in mind. We have recruited strongly in the lower grades but need to have some sort of minor success until those young kids are ready to come in.

McIntyre might have just come along at the wrong time for our roster as we are bogged down with Reynolds and Packer. Chee Kam stayed and Garner hasn't left either. We need new blood now. Hopefully we hear about it soon.

Re Angus Chricton, where is everyone getting this link with us from?

He was interviewed during Origin and said he loves the Chooks, his mates all support them, and he wants to stay a long time. He said he has no interest in the Wallabies or anything else (presumption being Souths want him back in exchange for releasing Suaali).

So, why would he be interested in joining us? ***

*** Would be a great signing...just can't see how.

Some of you guys here bagging the club are a joke , get behind the club and cheer on the boys is what true supporters do

I'm bagging the clowns that run the club.

Dugan and Moylan are still being shopped around. I can smell a big signing coming.

Why would you spoil my afternoon by mentioning those two flogs.

Am I reading this right, we are really worried about losing a 16yr old and a fringe first grader?

That is a little disparaging of Camroux and McIntyre. There are quite a few supporters who take an interest in the progression of our juniors and young players. Camroux is one of our own very good juniors. McIntyre was one of the few shining lights in comparison to much more highly paid players in our squad such as Leilua, J, Mbye, Packer and Reynolds.

I’d say that’s optimistic - each to their own.

Never seen cameroux so to me he’s just a 16 yr old with that dreaded potential tag.

Mcintrye is a bench player at best for a few years, not use throwing money etc at him. He’s certainly not on a pedestal. Not like his debut year was like Rudolph’s.

I believe the Club struggle to find a replacement for McIntyre. That is what I will be concerned about.

They will certainly struggle ti sign someone as good for the pittance he was on. Thought he was the answer to our lock problems myself.

No problems cheering on the boys, it's the management that need to look at themselves.

McIntyre is not WT junior.
We pinched him and Smith from Newcastle lower grades few years back.
Both didn’t show much promise until McIntyre had a reasonably good 2020.

I know right . There’s probably a kid in reserves just as good waiting to get a chance

No idea what's going on with the roster (McIntyre out, Aloiai maybe gone) but Madge and his team are almost certainly working to some kind of plan. No doubt we'll get told what's happening at some stage. It is the silly season after all. McIntyre was a good solid player but nothing out of the ordinary. Aloiai would be much harder to replace should he leave.
