We definitely need back rowers but not many decent ones available. They only need to be depth so youth would be the way to go you’d think, someone pushing for first grade or has played a handful of games.

We have lost 5 back rowers in McIntyre, McQueen, Taylor, Lawrence & Garner
New back rowers are one of our development kids and maybe Siro
We’ve also overall lost 11 players, 9 forwards and 2 backs
Currently replaced by 4 backs and 5 forwards
2 development, Jimmy & Momo
2 development, Tamou, Joe O & Siro
Guess the last two need to be back rowers to keep some sort of squad balance

We lost Harry Grant and have no hookers who have played a full season, unless I am wrong. Taylor could be lock and now we don't seem to have a lock at all? Twal isn't IMO. If we get Siro that's good, but at expense of Josh isn't an upgrade I love siro but its a swap. So I would say its difficult to say if we have improved on last years squad. Maybe a tad. I don't think I'm being negative here! The clubs done as well as they could. 2021 see what they can do, show some spirit, 2022 maybe we can attract and afford to offer big money to some stars 🙂

2020 we seem to have had 9, seems a lot but probably need 7 so two more if we can

I think we may be slightly ahead but there is a lot of risk in the gains and losses.

Roberts potentially is exactly what we need but I have no confidence that he is going to perform throughout the season. Defensively he is also terrible. He is low cost so it's a great signing but when it comes to performing next season we can't be relying on this guy.

Tamou is a good signing. DL may be a good signing but you need to give him time and see if he is up to it plus it's for next year.

JO for Aloiai to me is a backwards step.

I suppose if Tamou and JO make up for losing Aloiai and the Huth it's break even with the potential for Roberts to add a lot to the team. I can't call that getting ahead.

One thing is though we've lost McQueen and we have one more year with Reynolds and Packer on the books. Losing those guys is big for us. We can use Mbye as well. Maybe he does a decent job at fullback. He can go the following year and if we keep managing the contracts that we offer to players so that we are getting the right players I can see improvement coming over the next couple of seasons.

If you want to look for hope it's there. Guys like Kepaoa, Blore, Utoikamanu and Talau have the talent and athleticism to take a big step up. The combination of Doueihi at 5/8 and Mbye at fullback has shown some promise (in a very limited sample). We won't have one of the leakiest defensive combinations of 2020 in Marshall and Garner on the park together (and we may not have either at all). If Twal bounces back from injury we'll have a solid set of middles with him, Tamou, JO, Musgrove, Mikaele and Utoikamanu.
...or none of that may come off and we may have an ordinary season. But for now I'd prefer to hope for a better season than 2020.

I wouldn't rule out Kelma Tuilagi being promoted. Coming from the Storm system he must have a bit going for him.

Looks like a unit, hopefully the Storm just realised there was no room for him to develop further there.

I really don’t get why we would want siro back, we have blore who yes last year was abit unconditioned but IMO he has what it takes to be a tremendous footballer and madge an co must see that also. So why would we want him to be a bench player for siro? Just my opinion of course just confuses me abit tbh

I love garner his attack is probably one of the best second rowers atm....but Siro would add so much to our team with his ball playing ability...even as he ages and Blore steps up he’d still be a great bench utility...imo I’d be fine with giving Siro a 3 year deal maybe even a 4th CO

I’m the same I don’t mind garner I think he has some great skills he’s defence is definitely not the best in the comp or even close to it but that’s something he could work on. I also like siro was devastated when he left but that’s just how it is. I wouldn’t mind having him back but I just really think blore will kill it this year and be wasted if hes getting limited game time.

Siro hasnt demonstrated any ball playing ability for about 8 years!!!Hes also very injury prone.

Had more offloads than anyone in our team last year. Played 40 games in the last 2 years.

Exactly, this injury prone line trotted out is a myth, and there was only 20 games this year, not the usual 25, so that 40 games in the last 2 years is quite impressive, as he played 18 of 20 games, and 22 of 25 last year

His main weaknesses was that he never took hard runs, he would always pass the ball so someone else was tackled1 :angry:

We did zero with the five we lost something had to change and it has and I would say for the better.

Sirro would be the best signing we’ve made in a long time I believe. Brings a bit of aggression and doesn’t miss too many tackles. I get the feeling other guys want to play with him, which is something I don’t believe we’ve had in the forwards for a while. Maybe since Gareth Ellis.

There’s also the fact that Sirro should be here with his brother.

Like Joe O, Sirro had a great 2019 when Manly were flying high, but came crashing back to earth in 2020. Neither of these guys will be match winners for us, but they both have the potential to be very good players if the whole team is performing well, so let’s hope it does.

In the Brisbane game I was sitting right behind the bench and he came on with about 5 to go and I gave him a huge spray and told him to make a difference. So that was on me.
