AD is our 6 , Mbye is the backup . Especially if we get Laurie . We will have Gebbie as the back up fullback with All the other backs mentioned previously . We have an experienced backup half , his name is Moses Mbye

he won't hang around if we get Laurie a year early. there's nowhere for him to score a spot unless it's at 14 or if he fights Laurie or Doueihi for a spot in the spine, which on current form he may struggle to do.

As Cochise said, if Laurie isn’t here Mbye is fullback. Walters won’t be ready for some time (and even then I question whether he’s good enough) and Talau and Madden have never played the position in first grade. We definitely need a more capable back up at 6 IMO.

It’s not about experience it’s about balancing your roster. You don’t need that many halves. AD can easily shift to fullback and someone else can play in the halves. Plenty of options there - and I don’t see any decent halves coming over just to be backup. Youth is the way to go

Probably, but the scenario we were looking at was:
AD is injured for a month early in the season?
Walters is already out.
Laurie isn’t coming?

That would leave us with Mbye can cover both?
Madden probably but hasn’t played FG and hasn’t played for over a year.
Talau probably.

Just hope no one else gets injured in the meantime 😃

Doesn't have to be someone with experience but someone that is a genuine 5/8th is needed in my opinion.

Our halves play virtually the same no matter if they’re wearing 6 or 7. Brooks could shift back to 6 or just stay at 7, our backup halves are all more suited to playing 6 anyway I think.

Hey Blake, its like an old song ,They go together like a horse and carriage - you can;t have on without the other.Good teams need a good 1/2, for a half to perform he needs a good team.

I think there are roles that need to be filled, someone in the middle to choose where and when to attack, ie give it to a forward or spread it wide to the left or right, to decide when to kick early. Attacking and defensive kicking, support breaks in the middle of the field, act as a ballplayer on the left and right.

There are a lot of options on how this can be done, the Storm have shown that a hooker can control the attack in the middle and have the halves play our wider, when they had Cronk he controlled the attack in the middle. Roosters and Manly often use their Lock to do the same job.

There are many options, the coach has to find a way to cover the roles and use the players he has to get the most out of them. We need someone to be the controller in the middle in attack, Brooks looked good when he was doing it but Madge changed the structure many times last year and the players need time to get used to any structure.

AD is injured for a month early in the season?
Walters is already out.
Laurie isn’t coming?

That would leave us with Mbye can cover both?
Madden probably but hasn’t played FG and hasn’t played for over a year.
Talau probably.

Just hope no one else gets injured in the meantime ?

We have the cash, may as well get it covered, imo.

Walters could be back for round 1. 6-9 months recovery and did it about 7 months before round 1. Wasn’t even wearing a brace in pictures I saw of him.
