Teddys a great footballer,but 3.4mil ?How can you afford that in your cap,when you have to pay another 29 players,and they are top shelf players.How do they do it?


This is exactly what Hartigan is implementing here, pay the elite players big dollars, the rest get average salaries unless they start to perform like superstars. Matterson was an example of that $250K a season (your not a star) if you want more see you later.

that includes not paying stupid money for a Nofo

Problem with Mbye is he is contracted thru to 2022... and that would mean possibly funding 2 years of his contract.

Mbye hasn't even been that bad. He was in SOO last year, was annointed captain and has had a starting role when fit. We seem to judge people based on whatever rumoured figures they're on.

Mbye is a good player, just not worth the money. If Laurie comes, also questioning where he fits in.

I don't believe we are paying this amount. That is crazy money. I still think he is overpaid but I doubt he is on that much. That could be JAC & Nofo taking our wing spots.

I believe from what was mentioned at the time of signing that it was a 4 year $3m deal but that the Dogs were kicking in $175k in each of 2019 & 2020

That would make the cost to the Tiges of $575k in each of 2019 & 2020, increasing to $750k in each of 2021 & 2022

The last 2 seasons the Dogs have tipped in $175k of that - 2021 is the first year we pay the entire salary out of our own cap.

Thats how I understood the arrangement to be.

I agree with you Avo. As the season went on he looked worse and worse, especially in defence. Still a solid half but he’s on the decline

If that the situation ..... then it’s a priority to move him on ASAP.
No value in whatever capacity there ..... that’s 10% of our cap and only 1/4M less than what Tedesco just resigned for.
If we do manage to move him .... we will still be heavily penalised for next two years as no one will take him unless we subsidise heavily.

Unless we have a replacement ready, I don’t see the point of replacing him or Packer now for 2021, Packer is gone after next season (unless he has a blinder and certainly not on current $’s) and haven’t both been tried to be moved on with no takers?

regardless of whether or not he's on the move, if we get Laurie a year early it's probably in M'Bye's best interests if he heads elsewhere. Doueihi will play 6, we have a stack of specialist centres, Laurie will get first crack at the back and Liddle and Simpkin will cover 9 for the foreseeable future. similar to Reynolds you'd be happy to see him leave if we subsidise a bit of his wage. spend that money on a lock and a backrower.
