Getting B.Smith will be the difference between us being a top 4 side or being a bottom 8 side for the next 10 years.
Imo we can't wait 3yrs to see if one of our current 9s is a rep player then go looking for one if they're not.

Disagree - he is not as good a DH as Liddle - good at a lot of other things but his passing from the ruck is rank.

Thats why he plays for NZ and Liddle struggles to make a side that has finished out of the 8 for 2 decades

If you think Smiths passing from the ruck, or speed from the ruck is better than Liddle - you are delusional.

Besides Liddle can't play for NZ - he is not a NZ'er.

If you think Liddle is a better player you're beyond delusional

So why has he played for the jr Kiwis, New Zealand and New Zealand Maori if he's not a Kiwi?

At this point in time Mbye is first choice fullback. We don’t really have anyone else who can play that role besides Doueihi and he’s out 5/8. It’s a bit of a worry that we don’t have much depth there, Mbye has had a lot of knee issues.

Our spine on paper is the worst in the NRL, find me a worse one

Let's go with Brooks, Doueihi, Liddle/Simpkins & Mbye. It is definitely an inexperienced spine and it could be rated as the worst in the comp. Personally I think they can do the job. You could even replace Mbye with Nofo and have Mbye as the bench interchange player.

Roberts is strike only...Momo safe and smart enuff to pick up posiotional play(which Doehi wasnt)
Momo 1st centre picked after Bellamys comments..he'll be a better player,and for what he did deserves first opportunity

I can't see Momo being first picked. I think he is going to spend most of his time in reserves.

If I'm the coach and I have BJ, Roberts, Talau and Momo to choose from I know that Momo is last on my list. Momo is a solid player but he lacks the ability that those 3 players have.

This would be ideal. Still it feels we are fixing a position that doesn't need fixing. The thing is it is Brandan Smith that we are talking about. He would make a massive difference to our team.

I like Momo to be given a chance at FB.Alternatively search the lower grades in all teams for someone prefaliby with speed ,.It is a specialist position today.I think all sides will look closely at all grades to see who performs in the trials as a lot of players never got on the field last year ,there might be some gems in the lower grades.

If we signed him - I Don’t think he would be playing for the Magpies - unless there is favoritism in the camp.

If Widdop was not looking like the worlds best player in SL, he must be injured or is just not the player he once was.

He also wanted to get out of his last 2 contracts early for family reasons. If an existing player has family issues you support them but I would not be signing players with a history of being distracted with off-field issues.

Mmmm id hardly call giving a toss about your family as a distraction.Isn’t he married to an Aussie ? Being in Europe this year is probably the worst year in the last 30-40 to be over there .
It’s well documented that a switched on person away from the job leads to a switched on person at the job.
It’s pretty cold to hold that against him if it’s legit.

Also scored five tries in 11 games in a largely disrupted SL season. That strike rate is better than most halves running round in Australia with the exception of Cody Walker and maybe one or two others.

I couldnt disagree with you more. Nobody *deserves* selection based on what anybody says, nor does anyone get picked because they did something.

I this team I would hope you get picked because of a combination of talent, ability and effort at training.

I could understand Tommy wanting to leave. Seems to be lots of centres getting signed and Tommy seems to be a long way down the pecking order. Mind you in my opinion at this stage he deserves to be, but I would understand him getting impatient and wondering where his chance is coming from. If JTJ and BJ kick on he is locked out and I'd have AJ on the wing ahead of him.

IMO there is a lot of hype about TT and I have yet to see anything resembling the talent matching the hype. Based on what he has shown, I wouldnt lose any sleep over him leaving but I have to admit I;d be very nervous that he does fulfill his potential and match the hype somewhere else.

Another putrid display at LO just another display of poor culture that the players in that team ultimately do not care and other teams do not respect us happens all the time.

Really sad to see when you see how much the fans care in the crowd. Maguire and co have a really tough job.

If I were Talau, I'd be quietly confident of my chances of an NRL right centre position with Leilua and Roberts ahead of me. Both the latter have failed badly at their previous clubs where they were moved on.
