kind of don't want McInnes just will stop Liddle and Simpkin's development

McInnes was on the extended bench for NSW this year. Would do almost anything to block Liddle’s development tbh, I don’t rate him at all and think the bloke has had enough chances. Everyone wanted grub out when he was constantly injured, that’s the sort of gist I’m getting with Jacob. Have McInnes starting at hooker with him moving to lock mid-game to pave way for Simpkin

I disagree with this completely . Liddle is a weapon . It was clear when he returned , how direct he plays as well as his manipulation around the ruck . He puts his forwards onto the ball, and his ruck deception, creates space for his halves who are close to the ruck , especially on kicking options .
And I haven’t even mentioned the thing everyone notices , his speed and ability to get out .
Grants , passing out of the ruck was bog average in my opinion . We went from one of the teams making the most metres , to one of the teams making the least in 1 season . I think that was the transition from Robbie to grant as much as the forwards shat the bed this year.
Grant is an awesome footballer , I’m not saying he’s not, but Liddle is a better dummy half than grant . Grant is a better footballer .

??? we conceded double the amount of points mid-way through the season without Grant and having Liddle in the side. I don’t care if you think he’s good, the problem is **he’ll do another ACL before the first 10 rounds**. Just watch

Thats crystal ball talk
But ? I would like to know from everyone on the Forum, especially those reluctant to sign McInnes , who do we have that is good enough to play Hooker if Liddle goes down in the 1st few weeks
Or do we just write off our season again because there is always next year

Mate I’m all for McInnes . I just don’t think Liddle is rubbish . And I don’t like it , when people death ride one of our juniors , who has been loyal to us , because they’re all googily eyed over the shiny new toy we just had .

The gap between Grant and Liddle is like the San Andreas Fault. One is a rep and future kangaroo star the other the only chance he will get fora kangaroo jumper was when he played for the Wyong kangaroos

Disagree completely. People were worried about Grant when he came here this season, now he’s playing off the bench for the qld team . Australian team ? In front of Korisau ? In front of Cook? I don’t think so, sorry . He had a good year , but some of you need a reality check . Liddle is a weapon and I look forward to next season where I ,and many others ,can say I told you so.

Isn’t Mansour on big money at Penrith? Doubt they throw in more than half. We’d be paying a decent amount if we got him.

You’d assume he on 500k we’d pay 300k panthers 200k not bad considering nofo on 500 or more

It's bad because it's costing us 300k.

I've said it before.
If mansour is blocking your path to first grade then you're not ready for first grade.
Madge has shown he doesn't care about reputations.

This is a fair point. Madge sacks anyone who isn't performing.

Spot on.

We have banked on potential in the past and it has backfired.

The best players should play, whoever that maybe.

He’s been told he’ll be in reserve grade at Penrith, why would he leave to play reserve grade here at a worse club away from his mates? He’ll be given first crack if he comes over.

Because it’s got an extra year or 2 on his current deal

Only one year extra apparently. If we give him more than that we’re stupid. He’d be better off going to England if he wants to extend his career

Players would have to mental to go to the uk at the

I’m not sure but a few people have mentioned on here that he isn’t happy about loosing the captaincy to Jt and is looking to move up to qld

AJ, Debbie, and Talau are still unproven. Not to say they won't surpass Mansour within the next 12-24 months, however there is upside with Mansour on a moderate deal.
If Mansour does sign with the club, I predict a number of humble pie posts after the first few rounds.

Who the hell have we signed now I can’t remember any negotiations with Debbie.

Mansour is a complete waste of cash and a roster spot. Ridiculous rumour and if true Pascoe needs to be shown the door

I agree that he’s not as quick as he used to be but his defensive tackle efficiency is at 81%, Nofa by comparison is 69%. The average for first grade wingers in the NRL is 74%.

The Sauce would bring us some stability and crafty options on our left edge attack, so I’m all for it if he signs.

Mansour is basically Nofa.....with much better D.

I would take him any day over Nofa for 100-200 less.

Woah woah woah. Is this 2015? Am I dreaming? I don't know how you can see the things Dave did last year and say Mansour is as good. He'd need to be 500k cheaper to be in the convo.

But if he's signed to replace Jennings it's not that bad. You know what you're getting and we have quite a lot of young players who will benefit from seeing another pro do what he does. Good character as wel plus he won't get games if he doesn't deserve it.

Maybe he like Tamou more
Maybe he dislikes Ivan
Maybe penrith pay 50% of his salary for the next two years and we pay the other 50% but add say $50'000 a year for a 2 year deal only
Maybe Mansour is ok with that knowing he will still likely play in reserves at times
Maybe this is the only way we get Laurie
Maybe this forces Parramatta or Bulldogs to put an offer in for Mansour and they get him but we still get Laurie
Maybe getting Laurie lets us release Mbye to Brisbane or the Gold Coast freeing up a large chunk of money for the next few years
There are many maybes and none of us know the real thinking of this signing if true
But all we can do is trust the process
It could be worse
We could still have Jennings

How is mansour old at 30?
He brings experience, attitude, and appears to be a model professional on and off the field.
Id guess hes not as slow as people imagine compared to everyone we have aside from jimmy the jets.
We lost lawrence, benji and robbie in quick succession, so a few older experienced player seems like a good thing.

He’s not gonna play bad, I don’t think anyone thinks that. He’ll be solid enough, problem is we don’t really need him, we have the exact same winger as him on our right side. We’ve got two young guys pushing for that left wing spot and this creates the risk of losing one of them.

The Nofa negotiations have been going on for a while, maybe he is going

Yeah. Maybe the mansour rumour is a like for like replacement for nofa.

It all comes down to the facts we all know.We need a top class FB, throw the bank at Crichton or next best.Another top half either promoted or bought.(no speed no buy).Laurie may be that FB or maybe 5/8.AT least one other strike back .A lot will be determined mid year when we see how our young talent perform .If we have to pay overs fine, just not burnt out players.Im sure we would have a few irons in the fire.

Laurie coming early is certainly a help. Hope we aren’t just signing Mansour and not getting him too if we sign Mansour

That would be a recruitment failure. No deal for Mansour unless it includes Laurie for 2021. A means to an end.

Definitely. Mansour on his own is pretty poor, if Laurie comes along I can deal with it.

Pearce 7
Brooks 6
Douiehi back to 1
and Mbye moving up north?

I would prefer Abbey at 1 than Doueihi. Doueihi is a 13 or 6. Imo.

Doueihi is a centre that may be able to transition to 5/8th

He played almost 'all' of his junior footy at 6.

He has barely played 'any' center.

There won't be a transition.

AD is a 6.

Cochise keeps going on about this, but you are 100% right, Douihie himself even said he is a five eighth

Madge has shown he doesn't care about reputations.

Exactly right. Tigers have for a long time had insufficient depth to put pressure on the incumbents. Madge and Co have made a point of recruiting depth across the roster, so there is both competition and backup for injury.

Madge has shown willingness to drop any player any reputation.

So I don't understand, if someone thinks Mansour is "no good", why he would be an obstacle for "good" juniors. You might even ask if Mansour is reasonable value to both add experience and competition to the roster. And it's this value proposition question that has caused the drawn-out process of determining Mansour's future.

What I do know for a fact is that the club rates Daine Laurie very highly and were very pleased that he agreed to sign on. The question of an early trade including Mansour has been on the table for quite some time.

Why not give Madge a late Christmas gift and let him start working with Laurie now, rather than have the kid bouncing around reserve grade for another year. The Harry Grant trade showed that it's in the contract club's best interests to let an up-and-coming player play grade as soon as they are ready rather than keep kicking around behind prominent incumbents.

At worst we gain Mansour, who is decent without being a bad footballer. And maybe even then it puts pressure on Nofo to sign for a decent amount, or good luck to him if he chooses to leave.
