The last game josh mansour played was the nrl grand final could get really be that bad?

I think most people think he is a solid winger, but at his age what value does he bring,? We are lacking speed and a gamebreaker or two.Mansour would just add more of what we already have which is solid but uninspiring players.

I've said it before.
If mansour is blocking your path to first grade then you're not ready for first grade.
Madge has shown he doesn't care about reputations.

He’s been told he’ll be in reserve grade at Penrith, why would he leave to play reserve grade here at a worse club away from his mates? He’ll be given first crack if he comes over.

Because it’s got an extra year or 2 on his current deal

Only one year extra apparently. If we give him more than that we’re stupid. He’d be better off going to England if he wants to extend his career

Mole Warning:

Wests Tigers are set to make Dragons skipper Cameron McInnes as their number one target for 2022.

McInnes met with Tigers coach Michael Maguire at a Maroubra cafe last week - and it's a safe bet they weren't talking about Christmas presents. The pair have a long association - McInnes was selected for his NRL debut under Maguire at Souths in 2014.

The tough-talking coach knows only too well the all-round value of McInnes, who starred for the Dragons despite another disappointing campaign for the club in 2020. McInnes comes off contract at the end of next season and while the Dragons are keen to retain him, he is set to test his value in the open market.

With star youngster Harry Grant moving back to Melbourne, the Tigers will start next season with two young hookers in Jacob Liddle and Billy Walters.

Maguire wants more experience in the key dummyhalf role and McInnes would be an ideal player to lead the talented young Tigers team in years to come.

(Clearly Moley doesn’t know Walters will be unavailable early in the season)

Hasn’t stopped plenty of them. Couple years earning good money to set them up for the next 15 years

I posted a few months back Mitchell Pearce was on the outer and Roosters and Tigers were mentioned as the teams. It’s no surprise a leak from Knights has come out and not kept in house. Makes no sense for us or Roosters tbh but don’t be surprised if there’s truth to the old flogs article. They have a star in Walker coming through in 12 months and we have Brooks on a big long term deal no one will take.

If I had a guess the Sharks make a lot of sense.

Mitchell Pearce and the Sharks?? Could be a lot of "substance" to that rumour, if you know what I mean.

Epic Bender Crew has an opening after Barba left the crew.

kind of don't want McInnes just will stop Liddle and Simpkin's development

McInnes was on the extended bench for NSW this year. Would do almost anything to block Liddle’s development tbh, I don’t rate him at all and think the bloke has had enough chances. Everyone wanted grub out when he was constantly injured, that’s the sort of gist I’m getting with Jacob. Have McInnes starting at hooker with him moving to lock mid-game to pave way for Simpkin

I disagree with this completely . Liddle is a weapon . It was clear when he returned , how direct he plays as well as his manipulation around the ruck . He puts his forwards onto the ball, and his ruck deception, creates space for his halves who are close to the ruck , especially on kicking options .
And I haven’t even mentioned the thing everyone notices , his speed and ability to get out .
Grants , passing out of the ruck was bog average in my opinion . We went from one of the teams making the most metres , to one of the teams making the least in 1 season . I think that was the transition from Robbie to grant as much as the forwards shat the bed this year.
Grant is an awesome footballer , I’m not saying he’s not, but Liddle is a better dummy half than grant . Grant is a better footballer .

??? we conceded double the amount of points mid-way through the season without Grant and having Liddle in the side. I don’t care if you think he’s good, the problem is **he’ll do another ACL before the first 10 rounds**. Just watch

Thats crystal ball talk
But ? I would like to know from everyone on the Forum, especially those reluctant to sign McInnes , who do we have that is good enough to play Hooker if Liddle goes down in the 1st few weeks
Or do we just write off our season again because there is always next year

Mate I’m all for McInnes . I just don’t think Liddle is rubbish . And I don’t like it , when people death ride one of our juniors , who has been loyal to us , because they’re all googily eyed over the shiny new toy we just had .

The gap between Grant and Liddle is like the San Andreas Fault. One is a rep and future kangaroo star the other the only chance he will get fora kangaroo jumper was when he played for the Wyong kangaroos

Red Devils sign NZ forward Taylor on two-year deal
skysports.com 12 hrs ago

New Zealand international forward Elijah Taylor has completed his move to Salford Red Devils on a two-year contract. The 30-year-old, who has made over 180 NRL appearances, most recently served as co-captain with Wests Tigers. He will again join forces with former NRL team-mates Tui Lolohea, Sebastine Ikahihifo and Krisnan Inu for the 2021 Super League season.

Discussing his move to Salford, Taylor told the official club website: "I've spoken to a few of the players who I know, and Salford sounds like a great club. "I'm looking forward to the opportunity of playing at Salford, ripping into training and living over there. "I've been following Salford over the last two years and have always wanted to play in the Super League at some stage. Speaking with Rich (Marshall), I'm excited about playing for the club."

Salford Red Devils head coach Richard Marshall added: "Elijah has the quality to have a massive impact on this team with his actions on and off the field. "He already has a good relationship with Tui from their time at West Tigers and I'm looking forward to seeing them play together in Salford shirts.
"I also think Elijah's experience on the world stage will make him a great influence on the rest of our pack, and in particular our younger players."

Director of rugby and operations Ian Blease said: "The addition of a world-class talent like Elijah will help elevate the squad as a whole. "His presence makes our pack look even more imposing going into next season and beyond. "This signing is a statement of our intent and I am sure will fill our supporters with excitement for his first match in Salford colours."

This signing of Taylor follows hot on the heels of the club's Christmas Day announcement that fellow Kiwi Inu will remain with the Red Devils.

It’s as if people don’t want to have a better team next year unless WT sign everyone’s pin up boy.

Mansour improves our 2021 team, and if he helps get us higher up on the ladder it improves our chances to become a more desirable destination.

Even better if it gets us Laurie. I’ll back Hartigan on this because he’s shown he doesn’t pay overs.

How does he improve the team? It’s a sideways move at best, that comes with the consequence of slowing the development of our young players. Sure he’ll get metres up the middle for us but he’s not a game breaker, we’ve already got a winger who’s of the same mould but does it all better.

The only positive is possibly getting Laurie early possibly. Mansour will be solid, but nothing special. Would rather have pace and height on the wing.

How does he improve the team? This year we lost 2-3 games (see both south’s games) because teams targeted our inexperienced left wing with success.

If the young players are good enough, they’ll push him out of first grade, same as what happened with Jennings, but Mansour is a big upgrade on Jennings.

Mansour taken all Panthers stuff off his bio. Being told it should be a done deal with us potentially next week

Gross.... I know we need a winger but signing a short 30 year old slow winger to a 2-3 year deal on decent coin isn’t ideal

Hopefully Laurie comes along with him!

Not hopefully - it needs to be definitely or its a terrible decision.

Yes, Mbye didn't help crucify Hoffman (he got the blame), when he let in 4 tries did he?

AJ, Debbie, and Talau are still unproven. Not to say they won't surpass Mansour within the next 12-24 months, however there is upside with Mansour on a moderate deal.
If Mansour does sign with the club, I predict a number of humble pie posts after the first few rounds.

You are probably right but i think the "humble pie" comments will come from his supporters. He is not what we need

What did we lack last year? Consistency josh brings consistency
I’ve heard off 1 of my mates who plays nrl that josh 1 of the hardest trainers and eats nothing but healthy food and treats his body like a temple this will no doubt help him compete at the top level for a few extra years
If we get Laurie in the deal and release mbye this improves our roster and is a great move

Yes I would have no problem with his signing .... would be a decent pick up if it’s low $s and part of the (mentioned) three player swap.
