Not having a go at you specifically Sleeve, but I keep reading optimistic perceptions of Laurie, and when I read "we need high quality to compliment Laurie", I wonder if everyone here appreciate that he has played 3 NRL games and started in only 1.

Come one dude . A lot of guys have been pouring their heart out the last couple of days . It’s a little bit insensitive to be like “the moaning about your life forum “ is over there . I’m sure guys writing and moaning about never signing Pearce or Whoever , can wait a day or 2, so guys can get stuff off their chest .

Start a thread, I mean we have threads here for UFC, Dad Humor, Coronavirius, Mechanical, etc. If blokes want a thread to share and "pour their hearts out" as you put it, they can start one. I'm sorry if that sounds insensitive but this got awfully confusing with emotional experiences, Mybe, Pearce and Mansour.

I am happy to read and take in any fellow forumer's outpouring in any thread at any time and encourage everyone to do so whenever they feel the need as I am sure the majority of us would rather be able to help our brothers and sisters with a sympathetic ear at least and many an empathetic one at the expense of a few extra minutes of our time.

Not having a shot at you personally and only hope that all in life is well for you so no support is needed, but should you or others feel like getting something off your chest or require some solace in a safe space, know that in general it is almost always able to be found here without judgement.

Seems reasonably obvious at this point that Parra want Nofa- Mansour = their back up plan...they get Nofa, we get Mansour etc etc is all linked.

If Nofa wants 450-500...and we can get Mansour for 250-300...then you let Nofa walk and do that deal every day of the week.

Nofa is popular, I get that. But his defense is atrocious. I read people here defending him saying "he was outside BJ"...yeah, fair point...except he has been terrible outside 'every' center he has been paired with for 7 years. He can't read overlaps...he is a huge liability defensively. Nofa for 500 is the type of deal teams who don't ever win make. Desperate teams. We are not one of those anymore I hope...

Hartigan seems too smart to let it happen. He is a massive analytics man and all the analytics will tell you Nofa is a liability defensively.

Very logical post...if we get Mansour at a heavily subsidised price and don’t go more than 2 years and we get Laurie, bye Nofo..... we should haggle with the slimes for a player in return for early release

Fair enough, but that make Laurie a pretty expensive acquisition. I think your key word is former - we have had enough of them. I'd pay a little more for Nofo, not much though.

Mansour is not that bad he can replace Nofo and we get Laurie as a fullback option
one good year for Nofo take the risk we have missed better players than him in the past and are still standing like tedesco

Michael Tannous looks promising,plus another couple,but as yet to young,.Then we have to keep them as all other clubs will swoop as we have done.Madden may be given a try,and i think Laurie would be great but until we get another FB that will be his position.We all hope Douiehi works out in the long run.

I am bullish on Tannous, much more so than Madden. Seems to have an air of arrogance about his play which is what a good half needs.


I like the look of Michael Tannous as well. Plays very direct with speed. Looks well balanced on his feet and has a great side step. Still young. Not sure what’s happening with reserve grade this year. He is named in the Balmain 2021 SG Ball team but was doing pre season with The NRL extended squad. I’m guessing 2022 at the earliest for NRL?


Madden is in the Top30 and a possibility for R1 depending on trial form. He will have to grab whatever opportunities in NRL with both hands as Tannous will be competing for a halves spot in 2022.

SG Ball age has increased to under 19’s this year. I’m guessing it’s because of how all the lower grades have been disrupted with COVID.

Development players for 2021 are Kelma Tuilagi, Reece Hoffmann, William Kei.
You’d imagine Tannous would get a development contract in 2022. Or if Walters moves to Brisbane, Hoffmann might get a 2021 Top 30 spot and Tannous a dev spot this year as we are thin in the halves. With 3 spots in the Top 30 still vacant anything could happen.

Interested to get your take on his strengths and weaknesses? Have you watched him in the junior ranks?


Sorry, I don’t have any great insight into his strengths and weaknesses. I do know a lower grade coach that is impressed by his game. I did notice from online videos of his games that he has plenty of speed and a great step. 2020 was very limited for live footy viewing.

A good mate of mine teaches at his old school. Said he is an exceptional touch player with really great footwork and ball skills.
His one downfall is his defence which he will no doubt work on during this offseason/season and the next.

Definitely a prospect to keep an eye on but a work in progress for 22/23.

When Tannous left that "old school" he was 65kg he has bulked since (3 years on) and much more powerful and confident. I'm also hearing at the recent NRL pre-season he just completed that he has "Sting" in his defence and whacking front rowers.

I think you'll find this is his first year out of school mate.

Not sure that’s how the chips will fall.
With Mansour off their hands Cleary has cap space to resign Stephen Crichton and no reason to release or swap Laurie.
So anyway, that’s how I see it.

I don’t see it that way. I think they would have released Laurie to us IF it meant they got rid of Mansour. If Parra or some other club are happy to take Mansour then they have no reason to release Laurie to us whatsoever.

I don’t see it that way. I think they would have released Laurie to us IF it meant they got rid of Mansour. If Parra or some other club are happy to take Mansour then they have no reason to release Laurie to us whatsoever.

Hopefully we can put an offer for good money to Crichton, that might make them release Laurie early if they think that'll stop us getting Crichton.

It makes sense that Penrith want to get Mansour off their books, but how does it makes sense that it leads to the release of Laurie. If anything it would make sense that they hang onto him. If Mansour leaves they would be short a quality outside back. Makes no sense to let another one go, particularly when Laurie is on a Devt contract and provides depth without impacting the cap.

It makes sense of the Panthers offer us the early release of Laurie as motivation to take Mansour off their books, but to me makes no sense to let Laurie go if Parra take him.
