Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If we ever wanted a big strong hard-running backrower and at a good price then we should of tried to get Patrick Kaufusi who has signed with Melbourne. I think we missed a trick in this. Not saying we tried to recruit him but this bloke was never mentioned and was off contract. Exactly what we needed in our backrow to complement our Front row stock.
The storm now have what i believe one of the best packs in the NRL next season. Our backrowers will be lucky to bend the line.

Actually we could use him...

Who? Jesus? Yes we certainly could!

As for Moylan, Gould said earlier in the year that he will do everything in his power to make sure he stays a Panther for life. With his influence, I can't see Penrith ever letting him go - they will shed others first if they have to, imo.

It may be half arsed of him coming to us but it's certainly not half arsed that his manager is sounding out interest. I believe the Sharks are interested as this would allow them to move on Maloney, only issue is Moylan has a preference to play fullback, an area we are far from strong in ( at this point) which brings us well into contention. As with all things in the NRL, it's a dynamic environment where things change quickly but this story at this point has legs

I don't really care if we get him or not. I just like all the rumours and as we can testify it creates havoc in a team.
Moses, Teddy and Woods talk went on for over a year and screwed us. Let's give it back

I didn't hear anyone linked to him. I imagine it was just known that he was always going to go and join his brother in Melbourne.

Does the "Gus' shedding include Nathan … somehow I think that Ivan might have it over Gus.

Extended it to 2021

So much for his dream of being close to family and wanting to play with the Tigers! On field success can change a person's mind so quickly.

This guy is our biggest loss ever, especially seeing that a tall, speedy winger is what we lack most. He was always gonna be a star, anyone with half an idea about rugby league could see that. It's just such a shame that our loss is Melbourne's gain - a team that really doesn't need any extra help to be successful. Still, kudos to them for recognising, nurturing and using the talent, while we were ignoring it.

We weren't ignoring it. Pascoe asked his manager to hold off on signing anything till he got back from a trip. The manager didn't. Then JAC wanted to stay after he had signed.

How many times do we need to repeat the scenario GNR - Some people on here want to believe that we let him go. They can't handle the truth!!!!

I didn't say we let him go, I know about the story that he signed with Melbourne while Pascoe was away, no doubt egged on by his manager who probably saw dollar signs. What I did say was that he wasn't really being used much in first grade by the coach at the time, who preferred Rankin over him, though he was clearly a better wing prospect. The only time JAC got a go was when Rankin was injured or had to be shifted to fill another position.

As far as JAC (and all of us for that matter) was concerned, JT was going to be the coach again this season and Rankin was also still with us. Hence, I guess he thought his chances of playing first grade were minimal, so he jumped over to a club where he would be able to get a first grade gig on a regular basis, replacing the departing Koro.

So whilst we didn't let him go as such, I blame our coaches for not recognising and nurturing his raw, but obvious talent enough last season to give him the incentive to stay with us. With Taylor gone, things could've been different, but as I said already, none of us knew that was going to happen when it did. It's a shame the way it played out, but I still reckon it could've been avoided if Taylor had've been able to recognise what most could already see in JAC and given him a fair go.

Well Nathan would be nice, but do you really think he would want to play NRL under his father? I don't.

Got no idea about Moylan, but it's clear they have one too many good players in the spine. No wonder they were happy to let Martin go.

Well in fairness it does make a lot of sense for Penrith to let him go, they do seem to be over the cap and Edwards has made the fullback spot his own, and Tyrone May is killing it at 6!

Could see Penrith letting him go, but I can't see us being interested. I'd like it to happen I reckon he'd be a very good buy, but I think they see Lolohea as the future fullback.

Could we see this in the future

1\. Moylan
6\. Josh Reynolds
7\. Nathan Cleary

I definitely hope so

No… Cleary is zero chance of coming to the Tigers while Ivan is here.

Anyway, I'd play Moylan at 6 over Reynolds every day of the week.

Where there is smoke there is fire. Supposedly has had a falling out with the coach and with their recent success without him, they may not see him as the important player they once did.

Why wouldn't he it's not like he is getting picked because his dad is the coach, Half the NRL clubs are trying to sign him.

Cue the panthers vs raiders tape

This Moylan rumour makes sense. Dylan Edwards is a gun fullback on a small deal and Moylan is on big money.
Moylan and Cleary don't work as a half 5/8 combo and the Panthers have Cartwright and Tyrone May who may be better with Cleary at 5/8\. Moylan likes Cleary as coach and has fallen out with Hook after being demoted as captain. Tigers have cap space and Penrith are tight against the cap.

So Moylan is contracted to Penriff for next 4 years, yeah I'd take him providing Penriff pay 50% of his contract for the next 4 years…. it's about time WT got someone else to pay for players playing for us

By the way it sounds it's going to be Moylan wanting out, not Penrith moving him on (if there is actually any substance to this). If he were to leave Penrith he'd have to ask for a release from his contract. There's no way Penrith would pay his freight for the next 4 years.

Any news on Jamal Idris in 2018 and how is recovery is going?

Been doing plenty of rehab at his favourite Sydney watering holes the past couple of months. Won't be at the club next year.

I personally think he is too much of a risk. His size will always work against him as far as injury risk is concerned.
