Anyone know why we signed Seyfarth and not MacIntyre? How much was Sam asking for? I saw real potential in him

Admin was too slow getting a contract to Sam and he had an offer (minimum contract) from GC on the table, so he took it. Madge came out after and said he was disappointed in how it happened. Seyfarth was given another year (minimum contract) to see if he can translate to FG, Madge has previously said that he is a very strong trainer. Doubt Seyfarth will see much FG this year unless he is a real standout in CC.

Stefano said Seyfarth is the fittest forward at the club in a Q&A yesterday too. Obviously a strong trainer, hopefully he can bring it to the field, could be a good work horse type player although we need an enforcer in the middle, hopefully that’s Joffa.

Lots of people saying McInnes would be lock for us but is that what the club thinks? I’m pretty certain he wants to play hooker over lock.

I think our interest in him was to play lock. The club see a Radley type ball playing lock as the biggest priority so that is where I think we were looking at McInnes playing.

That doesn't mean McInnes wants to play lock.

I don’t know how I feel about him at lock, personally I think he’s better at hooker. He’s a great defender but I have visions of him being whacked multiple times trying to run the ball out of his own end. He’s not as evasive as Murray and doesn’t have the size of Radley who’s just built better for running the footy.

I have to agree. Not keen on him on the sort of coin being bandied around. He’s a warrior and consistent footy player but on upwards of 700K I feel like you want some individual brilliance or someone who will win you a game with some magic. I like him just worried we’re looking at him as a marquee signing.

I think he’s a great player , but I agree with you. I guess we just have to trust the staff and the plan they have in place .

Not disagreeing per se, but specific to the Tigers cap balancing act, compare the minutes and value between McInnes on $700K to Packer on $700K and it becomes a bit of a no brainer.

The guy plays 80 minutes and we are getting plenty of cap value out of guys like James Roberts. For example, what's the difference between paying McInnes $500K and Roberts $330K or McInnes $700K and Roberts $130K? Nada...

The Roberts bargain allows us to go a bit harder to fill the gaps in the squad.

At some stage we will have to pay overs for at least one player ...as long as it is the right player ....ie a 1,6,7 or 9 or back rower who is a massive pick up ......

At some stage we will have to pay overs for at least one player ...as long as it is the right player ....ie a 1,6,7 or 9 or back rower who is a massive pick up ......

Exactly,they just won't pay big money for average to just good anymore.But that's just me guessing.

Wasn’t Mitchell in the old system (pre Hartigan?), and was certainly offered big money, not sure about JAC as this was in Hartigan’s management, do we know what he was actually offered? But we pulled out of both players negotiations?

Wasn’t Mitchell in the old system (pre Hartigan?), and was certainly offered big money, not sure about JAC as this was in Hartigan’s management, do we know what he was actually offered? But we pulled out of both players negotiations?

Obviously all sides set a ceiling on what they will pay and on what terms eg; contract length etc.What those players were offered would probably be under a confdentiallity agreement.
