Harry Grant has goooooone! Let’s move on. I hope Liddle is ready he is 24, it’s now or never. Simkins is a talent but may need another offseason before he is ready to defend in the middle for a full NRL season.

Ihope not ,or another lost superstar, becauseof the inability of the club to recognise and hold talent . Ilike Madge as a coach, but i doubt his ability in selecting talent,.

Are you serious, have you not been following how our system for recruitment now works?

What superstar have we lost or failed to hold? Grant was a loan player for last season, that was it.

I think staggs is 22 creighton is 20 both great in attack both ordinary defenders wouldn’t so no to either of them

Defense can be trained, though it takes awhile to improve. Also were not good at defense unless we just focus on it (we did beat Melbourne once 6-4 winning on defense).

I still look at both these players and go "another Center". I don't see them as Wingers and the only position I see them being in is Fullback OR with Kotoni Staggs in the second row/lock. For that reason I would go Kotoni closer to the front with Tamou and Ofanague... (wonder how Joe O and Staggs get along).

With the cap going to 9 Million, I think Angus Cricheon would be my preference on the lot. We need to sort out our front row and see if Brooks can play behind a pack that can deliver.

Stagg in the second row/lock ? no chance. We had the worst and slowest backline in the game last year, and JTJ is the only addition except for Madden who most prefer Doeihi, (though i don't) at 5/8. and Cini who people say can't tackle and is Penrith bound.Kepoa ? maybe but what do you do with all our favourite utility players,Momo,Mbye,TT,and Doeihi who seem unable to find a regular position owing to lack of speed or ability.

Answer: who is David Nofo?

Seriously we have David Nofo and we had Robert Jennings who were both fast players.
Being fast does not mean your a weapon.
Sure it helps, yet we saw Chris Lawrence demonstrate its more then Speed (sheens always had a plan to get Chris into space Unmarked).

Nofo appeared Among the fastest. Not the fastest, he was there. While I totally agree with re-signing him speed on the backline wont do it alone.
Infact our past fast Backlines and speedsters
Helped us ignore our problems in defense and team structure. If we could pull out a Korobet, JAC or Tukali every year, sure we can focus on speed.

Instead we have to play real league. Us vs Parra, when the going got tough we gave our all...and lost. If we dont win the midfield, a speedy backline will be rundown by the more mobile Hookers. Why because we will be starting 40m out and not 10m out.

You need a balance. In years gone by our halves have created half chances on the outside and your likes of Jennings and Momorovksi were not quick enough to do something with it. Or we take an intercept and get run down. Its not the only thing but its really important, because it turns half chances into tries. We really noticed it with Doueihi last year at fullback, I could find countless videos where there was half a gap and he was just not quick enough to accelerate through. While you give say Papy half a gap (EG - The GF) and he just motors through.

I agree on Jennings, but Momirovski could always find his way to the line

Momo has a footy brain ? very rare in the common breed !

The game has changed signifiantly in recent years.Coaches were resposible for hiring and fireing previously,.The top teams have specialist recruitment staff today, and in many ways they are more important then the coach. It's not possible for a coach to peruse available talent in all clubs, plus juniors, plus hrs of videos, plus the financial planning needed to build a roster. The last 12mths has shown the importance of the present recruitment staff, and congradulations to them.RE-lost superstars i was referring toTeddy ,JAC,Corabedi, woods,Moses etc.Madge has had no superstars to lose and i was referring to a post saying that Simkin should wait 12mths before playing, and my concern about keeping him.You have taken things out of context.

This is my take on the McInnes situation, presumably the club & Madge want him. My thoughts are this initially to play 13, give Liddle & Simpkins a crack at the shared hooking roll this season and assess them both but more so Liddle. If there are any doubts Liddle is off contract let him walk, then they can revert back to McInnes starting hooker and move to 13 when Simpkins comes on until Simpkins is ready for the full time gig. McInnes is good in either position I saw him say in an interview his preferred was 9 but also enjoyed 13. He’s a quality player with an impeccable attitude we’d be lucky to have him anywhere and he’d improve us massively

100% spot on

Anyone know why we signed Seyfarth and not MacIntyre? How much was Sam asking for? I saw real potential in him

Admin was too slow getting a contract to Sam and he had an offer (minimum contract) from GC on the table, so he took it. Madge came out after and said he was disappointed in how it happened. Seyfarth was given another year (minimum contract) to see if he can translate to FG, Madge has previously said that he is a very strong trainer. Doubt Seyfarth will see much FG this year unless he is a real standout in CC.

It’s a shame. McIntyre was a real workhorse, but at the end of the day he probably only would have got a bench spot at best.

Stefano said Seyfarth is the fittest forward at the club in a Q&A yesterday too. Obviously a strong trainer, hopefully he can bring it to the field, could be a good work horse type player although we need an enforcer in the middle, hopefully that’s Joffa.

This would be the ideal situation, gives WTs options moving forward and rounds out our pack for this year.
McInnes is so highly rated by Saints fans, you know he leaves it all on the pitch, very rare to have a championship team without a guy or two like this in the squad. I was initially sceptical about the price tag, but the more I think about it the more I think this is exactly what we need.

Yeah I don't think Seyfarth is big enough at the moment to be a workhorse in the middle, although he's only young.

Maybe if he developed his ball skills more he could become a ball playing 13 and be a kind of second stringer to McInness assuming we get him

I thought he was a fun guy to have in the team too. He was never going to be a top line forward but he was always going to light someone up it they ran straight at him. However I think his hard hitting did over shadow some deficiencies in his lateral defence. Best of luck to him, I don't think he's going to effect a teams' ladder position.

So did I, but obviously the club didn’t, Seyfarth is a big body and has a year to prove himself I guess.

Maybe they were slow, or maybe they didn’t want him, it’s not up to Madge.

He’s not a small bloke I think it’s more just his aggression needs to go up, needs to throw himself into the game a bit more cause he’s got some size

Yeah no idea, just putting together what was said in the media. McIntyre said he wanted to stay but an offer was not forth coming. Madge said that it was unfortunate that he was leaving and blamed an Admin error. Yeah maybe they didn't want him, but no one has said that. My opinion is that he was not high priority and when people like JAC and Aloiai were playing games it delayed things for McIntyre.

This will be a good thing.
