Moley reporting Canberra in Cap strife for 2018 needing to shed a player or two..

Kurt Baptiste ..pass…. but the other is Joey Leilua..Yes...

Leilua no thanks. Our existing centre options are fine plus come with no baggage.

What baggage does Leilua have?

Issue involving his then girlfriend at the time. I can't recall whether it was when he was at the Roosters or Dragons. He has moved on but why help the Raiders with their cap problems unless it is Whitehead, Cotric or Rapana?

Here is a link here, it was when he was at the Roosters. The SMH also have an article but it is behind the pay firewall.

I'm aware of the story. That was 5 years ago, and he's played at 2 different clubs since without incident. Its clutching at straws to say he carries baggage.

The guy is a grub but he can play

He's played at 2 clubs since, without incident. He was dealt with by the aithorities and the NRL have deemed him ok to play for the last 5 years. Who are we to judge. I think Russell Packer is a fine example of Cleary and Pascoe not havig issues with signing players who have a checkered history, as long as they have turned their life around. Hats off to them for that.

Hmm Leilua would be interesting. Specialist right center. Our current options are Marsters (really a back rower), Milne (promising but in and out of 1st grade for 2 years) and Kev (great in attack but defensive liability).

He does set up his winger very well and Nofa is a very similar player to Rapana.

Wouldnt be my first choice but could be worth a go.

Funnily I kind of feel, Suli is a bit of a younger version of Leuila. One thing we can be sure of though is that Cleary is not the type of coach to be concerned about individual player egos. If his available he may be a good acquisition.

Roosters, Knights and now possibly at Canberra he has failed to see out his contract. Before rushing in to say yes, would you want to know why?

Todd Payten didn't see out contracts with the Raiders and Roosters before he come to us. There are probably others players who have been in the same boat too over the years. You are clutching Paws.

Would love Leilua.

Leifoluama

1\. Tui Lolohea
2\. Taane Milne
3\. Moses Suli
4\. Joey Leilua
5\. David Nofoaluma

Different reasons though wasn't it?

Payten pushed out by cap issues and paid by previous clubst his new one?

BJ let go for other reasons such as falling out with coach, team mates?

Leifoluma that’s gold. That would be one heck of an exciting backline. Rocks and diamonds play amongst all those players. Cleary could make it work.

Sounds similar to another player the forum has pushed for the club to sign recently.

Either way, the dominoe effect of where Cronk goes is interesting. He will displace one quality half at whatever club he chooses. That guy will then have to leave his club and the flow on effect continues.

Yeah it'll be very interesting. If I were the roosters I would let keary go. Moving on club favourites (eg pearce/friend) often ends badly

I'd hope they move on Mitchell (to the WTs). Apparently his manager is seeking a contract increase for his client.

Why wouldn't he - they are anywhere between 400k and 750k under the cap.

Will be interesting to see how the disciplined Cronk fits in with the Eastern Suburbs set not sure it will work. Certainly can't see him at the Sharks . It has to work both on and off the field.

Cronk has bought a home in Mosman (which would suit him- he looks like a Mosman guy) . Mosman and the North shore types are a different type of rich guy to the Eastern Suburbs set. Anasta is soo Eastern Suburbs .
Having said that it’s very quick access from Mosman into the Bridge and into WestsTigers territory

Or a 20 minute drive up the road to Manly - or a short stroll to play ISP for the Bears.

Our current centre option are a class rookie who didn't make it through a a full season and a makeshift one with a few others that can play centre at a pinch..

Leilua is a specialist Centre that is better than all our current options…but OK ...pass
