Rooters are a joke & so is the NRL for lettuce them get away with it , nobody wants to see them play anyway, 35,000 last nite at allianz for a soccer game

Admittedly the 2 Finals wouldve helped, but technically the Roosters had the highest Crowd Average of all the Sydney Clubs this year.

Their pretty bad for a team that wins most weeks. Cowboys game was embarrassing.

I think it's more Cronk's Ego, if I can win 2 premierships with the Storm (2 were taken off them), and I can win a comp with a Sydney based team. How good am I.

Funny I saw the proposed Roosters line up in the paper today as well.
I don't think BuZz is the best mathematician either that or his forgoten that first grade squads need to be 30 players next year.
Similar to what I was saying a week or so ago, the roosters could afford Cronk if they decided to spend the majority of their cap on their first team.
BuZz seems to think though that as mentioned signing the squad listed in the paper of 21 players for 8.8m that you can include the remaining 9 in the squad for 750,000 and each player would be on less than minimum wage.
I guess it's not clear where the squad sizes will be confirmed at as this is with the RLPA at the moment as is the cap but apparently it's going to be 9.6million according to once again BuZz.
I'd really like to have chance to ask buz how or where he gets his figures.

Clearly had more than half the cap to get who he wanted for his first full season and has had the majority of a season to start molding the players that are already here. If they don't perform, then other than himself there are very few places or people to point blame at.

Totally agreed.

Just, he will make mistakes. So far he hasn't made any, I expect one or two new signings not to work out. Chris McQueen is one of those because of his injuries (otherwise he is IMHO a brillant signing, we need an older hand in the forwards and even injured he may be good to have around to point people in the right direction).

If he makes too many, well we go on the coaching roundabout again. But I think he will only make a very few small ones, that's natural. Bellamy makes mistakes! The trick is the batting rate and team culture, we stick together while demanding high but realistic standards.

Arrgghh… I have to jump in again. Can't handle it.

I can't believe we are even thinking even remotely this way for next year.

No matter how the team goes next year, if we boot Cleary or do anything but support him, what quality coach in their right mind is going to want to come here?? Not only that, but what players are going to want to come here??

In 2 years, we've lost Farah, Tedesco, Moses, Woods & Halatau. 2 Captains, a VC and 3/4rs of our spine!

It boggles my mind that everyone would even entertain the prospect of drama again. The thing that has driven us mad the past 5 years and resulted in us ending down the bottom of the table every god damn season!

Set goals, create motivation, start to build to where we need to be. But don't set damn ultimatums because Cleary would have to go Barrett on a player to want go down that path or instability again so soon!

I think people on here just love drama. Must love the telegraph.... Just sit still for at least 1 year and give all the support you can muster!

Can't speak for Col (who is actually Mike IIRC), but I wasn't suggesting change, just that Cleary has a much better opportunity to quickly create his own team than most, if not any recent incoming NRL coach. Particularly when compared to the last two coaches at WT, who had very little.

Too make clear I think Cleary will work out and I reckon he has enough of the right stuff to make it work here. In fact it's like we recruited the Panthers structure into our fold, now we got their coach and everyone who's sick of Gus! (ok not everyone, that's a very long list).

But there will be mistakes. Like the original comment, Cleary only has Cleary to blame if there is No success in 2018\. Now I expect us to hit 9-12\. If were hitting 15/16th then Cleary hasn't solved our problems and would only have himself to blame, but that wont be happening.

How's Parra's form. Spent 800k on Moses, now they are in the hunt for Cronk. I wonder how poor Mitch feels about them being interested in Cronk. We all know how fragile his ego is.

I don't believe Pearce is under any threat at all. He seems to be a favourite of Uncle Nick and despite a few hiccups along the way, there is loyalty between the two.

This is in marked contrast to the failure of a very high profile former player of our club who may learn a thing our two about this from Pearce.

Most think they left for Money… Even if they did get Cronk, he will still get paid.

I wouldnt be surprised if Parra are thinking about selling Norman. They know they will get top dollar for him, not having to carry any surplus in their Salary Cap.

It is an interesting scenario though, seeing how these club think in relation to player stocks. They believe Cooper Cronk is better than anyone in their squad, so are prepared to sacrifice yesterdays beliefs to gain the best talent.

Maybe Wests Tigers will start thinking this way now we have some coin? We have in the past been found way short on developing and keeping 'potential'.

Interesting times to come before the start of the 2018 Season!

Yes it seems Wests Tigers fans at least are happy with our fullback or halfback or hooker or backrow when it appears much better players come onto the market for whatever reason…

We don't need em...

I don't think that having a bit of cap space available will make a big difference to our recruitment approach.
To me, our current roster is just the beginning and only the on-field part of the game. It is the off field part of the game that WT really needs to work on.
As another member posted earlier, WT has to get better at attracting big business contributors for TPA's and associated non-monetary benefits E.G. Roosters style. They need to be actively marketing WT brand at the big end of town and nationally. What the chooks do may or may not be within the rules but they seem to get away with it. It isn't the available cap space that makes the difference per se, It's the ability to have cap space movement available through other funding sources.
WT recruitment should focus on accountants and marketing.

And today Dean Ritchie has run a story saying the roosters played this year $650,000 under the cap, please, only a fool or an NRL cap auditor would buy that crap

I’m still getting over people saying we shouldn’t get Moylan because we have Tui.

Moylan is staying put so its null and void.

Thought it would be a challenge for Cooper Cronk, to join a team, who has not made the finals recently.

Too see how much of a positive influence he will be in helping the team in reaching the finals.

Would be ironic if he signs with a ' glamour team" only to get a season ending injury.

Cronk is available but it seems only the Roosters or Parramatta or Cronulla need him..

Do you really see Cronk choosing us over the Roosters?

I think you meant to say .. Cronk is available but it seems only the Roosters, Parramatta or Cronulla can afford him .. !!

Can't see it coming down to money for Cronk. He'll get top dollar wherever he goes. It will depend on the club. Imo he'll be looking to join a club who will be chance to win a premiership the next 2 years. He won't soil his legacy by joining a weak club.

Agreed. The thing I don't understand though, is that winning a comp with the roosters wouldn't enhance his legacy all that much IMO. They were already one of the favourites for next year before there were rumours of cronk's signature. If cronk truly wants to enhance his legacy, he'd be better off going to a mid range team like the panthers or manly IMO, because I reckon he could still win a comp with a team like that.

Either way, the dominoe effect of where Cronk goes is interesting. He will displace one quality half at whatever club he chooses. That guy will then have to leave his club and the flow on effect continues.
