From the mouth of a tigers board member. Madge asked the club about Folau over the off season and it was an unequivical NO. The chairman is a lawyer and a businessman and knows its anrgument he doesent want to be involved in given many players and supporters are religious but the club will not be signing Folau

There was an article saying there was drama with a board member leaving anyone know anything about that?

I’m no lawyer but if a nrl club gave him a contract think it would be hard for nrl to refuse. He’s no criminal. He’s a footballer who cares about all the other crap.

He’s done nothing wrong at the nrl as yet.


It was Mick Lubinskas - he didn't leave - he was ousted from the board. The conspiracy theory is that Mick who is very pro magpies stated at the AGM that there was no way Wests Magpies would be re branded as Wests Tigers in NSW Cup or RMC while he was there. A week later he was ousted from the board of Wests Tigers and also as chairman of WS Magpies. There has been no official announcement from WT, WSM or Wests Ahfield as to why he was ousted.

Sounds like the Board got it right to me.

Thought we had got past that.

We are not a 50/50 JV, not even close, Balmain haven’t paid anything for a long time, Wests own 90%, could’ve been 100% as Balmain pay nothing. So that is why we have Wests Magpies as a reserve grade team

Whether you like it or not - it is a joint venture made up of two teams - this is reflected in t he name of the team.

It should be the same throughout all the grades except the local juniors.

I don't care who put in this much or that much etc. We are either united or we are not.

You said we shouldn’t wear our black jumpers because Tommy never played for Wests Tigers, I said if it was Siro, Blocker or Junior I would expect them to wear orange, it's called respect, enough said.
And I will list of the top of my head the items I own for a team I don't apparently support.
5 jerseys, 3 hats, 2 t-shirts, 2 polo shirts, hoodie jacket, wall clock, digital scoreboard with temperature and date, 3 stubbie holders, 3 beer glasses, 2 key rings, lanyard, 2 towels, I even have yo yo, that is off the top of my head, imagine how much supporter gear I would have if I actually supported the team

I want the yo-yo..where can you get em..

I heard Geo and Hobbo faced off at the national championships in the final round
Geo goes 1st trying a very complex trick see photo bellow
Unfortunately it all went wrong and the Yoyo got all caught up in Geo's hair

Hobbo won the final with a simple "rock the craddle"

I didn’t see anything worth 1 mil a year . Which is what it would cost .

Would it? $1.4 mill over 2 years is the current offer.

He'd be worth that.

What do we do with brooks ? Offload to the boys ? Also what do we do in 2024 ? Is madden gonna wait ? Is there a junior coming through ? Not saying I hate it . Just there’s a lot to sort out , the future 3 years from now the most important . Plus you all know I’m pro brooks .

The question is not what do we do with Brooks but what does Brooks do for us

Why does he get a free pass when everyone else needs to be moved or held to account

I get why people want him to do well, but come on enough already. It was Farahs fault, no it was be benjis fault , its the coach, it’s the forwards, now it’s the backs. He has come out and said it’s his team. He’s the main man. If he can’t deliver time to cut our losses.

I thought I made heaps of valid points. Brooks didn’t do well because

1. Farah stifled him and service was too slow
2. Benji was the dominant half and Brooks was too shy

He’s been through 3 coaches and no finals with any.
Best forward pack we have had in years.

My main point is no more excuses. He is our guy. , he is the man in control. Step up Brooks and seize your opportunity or it’s time to move on. I watched the game with 10 blokes who go for 3 different teams and not one of them would have Brooks in their team.

Mitchell Pearce played 10 years at the Roosters and most of that time was NSW's half. Roosters punted him for Cronk and won two GF's in a row. That's the difference a champion half makes. Reynolds is next level to Brooks.

If that argument is supposed to support Reynolds it's an odd analogy considering that after 10 years at South's they are prepared to let Reynolds go - like the Roosters did with Pearce! Just sayin.

You saw how well Benji played last night outside Reynolds. He looked like a rep player. We haven’t seen that since 2011. Go back through, let’s say, the last ten premiers. The common thread is Cronk, Maloney, Munster, Thurston, Keary, dominant halves who know how to play football. You can interchange players around them but as long as one of those players is in the team you’re going to win more than you lose.

See I think Benji played just as well with us on numerous occasions last year too, along with the errors he has in his game that are still there, but were intolerable for some. Our problem wasn't scoring last year it was defending and playing for 80mins.
I agree with you that a great half back is an assest to any team who wants success, especially the ones you have named, but can't think of one successful team that didn't have a whole lot of quality players around their halfback to make that success possible. At the same time I'm not making excuses for Brooks deficiencies as a player - just don't think he is soley responsible for the position we are in - ( and or our recruitment choices ) - and we will need more players to significantly improve, and add a few to break the cycle of underachieving - with or without Brooks.
A big day for him tomorrow...and no doubt the the focus will be well and truly on him.

By the way, still our big problem. Turns out in 2021 you can’t carry 1 single player with concentration issues .

Yep, fingers crossed for tomorrow. Let's hope with a few "easier" games the next few rounds we get a chance to gel and get some combinations going.

Could well be true, but the difference will be, as it was with Mitch Moses last week, due to their pack dominating our forwards, Benji will have more space and time to do his stuff and won't get drawn into the scrappy stuff.

How did that Souths pack become “dominant” all of a sudden . There’s nothing intimidating about them at all , and there’s no reason , why we can’t , compete , and actually dominate them . Our pack is big . And there’s no surprise the last few weeks have turned around with Musgrove coming in . Like Our edge defence is our issue , and we have to find some kind of combination , and the Mbye move there should at least go along way to fixing that . On the right Garner and AD need to to get better at thier inital lateral contact . As soon as someone gets in a position not directly in front of them , they can’t make a tackle . And with AD , for a big bloke he gets run over way too much . See I think Benji played just as well with us on numerous occasions last year too, along with the errors he has in his game that are still there, but were intolerable for some. Our problem wasn't scoring last year it was defending and playing for 80mins.
I agree with you that a great half back is an assest to any team who wants success,il especially the ones you have named, but can't think of one successful team that didn't have a whole lot of quality players around their halfback to make that success possible. These comments do reflect the game that was just played because I was there live watching it. The kick that led to the try was fantastic. He has got it in him. But the 10 other kicks were terrible. The conspiracy theory is that Mick who is very pro magpies stated at the AGM that there was no way Wests Magpies would be re branded as Wests Tigers in NSW Cup or RMC while he was there. It all stems back to him not being the messiah . I don’t think people can reconcile their hope vs the reality . He has issues , nobody is denying it , but he’s ok where near as poor as some on here would have . He’s definitely in the top halve halves in the comp . He’s just not number 1 . So there’s this idea , that we will somehow be able to buy that player , which no club will ever give that player up , unless they made a massive mistake with evaluation , eg. Johnathon Thurston .
So if you do get a halve it’s one that comes with huge asterix next to them .

The quote 'a half is only as good as his forwards'works the other way too. Against the Raiders and Roosters our pack matched and in some instances (particuarly V Canberra) bettered them. Issue was our end to sets. We earned our way to the 20m then meekly handed over possession with 7 tackle restarts on nearly every occassion. This gives the opposition pack a 20m start and bonus tackle.

Compare this to Souths pack who have their 7 always have the opposition pack rucking the ball out from their own tryline.

Our pack is great and have largely been doing their job, however they've been let down by their small men.

I get why people want him to do well, but come on enough already. It was Farahs fault, no it was be benjis fault , its the coach, it’s the forwards, now it’s the backs. He has come out and said it’s his team. He’s the main man. If he can’t deliver time to cut our losses.

I thought I made heaps of valid points. Brooks didn’t do well because

1. Farah stifled him and service was too slow
2. Benji was the dominant half and Brooks was too shy

He’s been through 3 coaches and no finals with any.
Best forward pack we have had in years.

My main point is no more excuses. He is our guy. , he is the man in control. Step up Brooks and seize your opportunity or it’s time to move on. I watched the game with 10 blokes who go for 3 different teams and not one of them would have Brooks in their team.

Mitchell Pearce played 10 years at the Roosters and most of that time was NSW's half. Roosters punted him for Cronk and won two GF's in a row. That's the difference a champion half makes. Reynolds is next level to Brooks.

If that argument is supposed to support Reynolds it's an odd analogy considering that after 10 years at South's they are prepared to let Reynolds go - like the Roosters did with Pearce! Just sayin.

I guess we will never know what impact Cronk would have had in a team with no rep players like Brooks has, because he never played in one
As for the other two both served their clubs well and played a role in securing premierships with great players around

You saw how well Benji played last night outside Reynolds. He looked like a rep player. We haven’t seen that since 2011. Go back through, let’s say, the last ten premiers. The common thread is Cronk, Maloney, Munster, Thurston, Keary, dominant halves who know how to play football. You can interchange players around them but as long as one of those players is in the team you’re going to win more than you lose.

See I think Benji played just as well with us on numerous occasions last year too, along with the errors he has in his game that are still there, but were intolerable for some. Our problem wasn't scoring last year it was defending and playing for 80mins.
I agree with you that a great half back is an assest to any team who wants success,il especially the ones you have named, but can't think of one successful team that didn't have a whole lot of quality players around their halfback to make that success possible. At the same time I'm not making excuses for Brooks deficiencies as a player - just don't think he is soley responsible for the position we are in - ( and or our recruitment choices ) - and we will need more players to significantly improve, and add a few to break the cycle of underachieving - with or without Brooks.
A big day for him tomorrow...and no doubt the the focus will be well and truly on him.

I don't reckon souths next week is gonna be too easy. I'm expecting a knock down, drag out fight. Team will be fired up to go toe to toe with benji.

Could well be true, but the difference will be, as it was with Mitch Moses last week, due to their pack dominating our forwards, Benji will have more space and time to do his stuff and won't get drawn into the scrappy stuff.

How did that Souths pack become “dominant” all of a sudden . There’s nothing intimidating about them at all , and there’s no reason , why we can’t , compete , and actually dominate them . Our pack is big . And there’s no surprise the last few weeks have turned around with Musgrove coming in . Like Our edge defence is our issue , and we have to find some kind of combination , and the Mbye move there should at least go along way to fixing that . On the right Garner and AD need to to get better at thier inital lateral contact . As soon as someone gets in a position not directly in front of them , they can’t make a tackle . And with AD , for a big bloke he gets run over way too much . Which is why all the praise for him last week did my head in a bit , as at least 2 , maybe 3 of the tries scored had some kind of direct correlation to a poor defence by him.

We need to move up , hit with controlled aggression , win the advantage line , and play a tight compact defence . As that Souths team , is lethal down thier left hand side . But first things first let’s grind NQ into the dust , and build some confidence . We should be looking to annihilate them off the field .

The quote 'a half is only as good as his forwards'works the other way too. Against the Raiders and Roosters our pack matched and in some instances (particuarly V Canberra) bettered them. Issue was our end to sets. We earned our way to the 20m then meekly handed over possession with 7 tackle restarts on nearly every occassion. This gives the opposition pack a 20m start and bonus tackle.

Compare this to Souths pack who have their 7 always have the opposition pack rucking the ball out from their own tryline.

Our pack is great and have largely been doing their job, however they've been let down by their small men.

I agree with what youre saying , but i don’t believe it’s because the spine sux , or arnt good enough . It’s mainly because they’ve now played 3 games together , and the combinations are building . We needed to be stronger defensively , as it was pretty obvious , these teething issues were going to happen.
