Naysayers ? That’s an interesting way to look at it . I saw a guy get to his kicks , and shift early to benji and Lattrell .
I didn’t see anything worth 1 mil a year . Which is what it would cost .

Would it? $1.4 mill over 2 years is the current offer.

What do we do with brooks ? Offload to the boys ? Also what do we do in 2024 ? Is madden gonna wait ? Is there a junior coming through ? Not saying I hate it . Just there’s a lot to sort out , the future 3 years from now the most important . Plus you all know I’m pro brooks .

The question is not what do we do with Brooks but what does Brooks do for us

I get why people want him to do well, but come on enough already. It was Farahs fault, no it was be benjis fault , its the coach, it’s the forwards, now it’s the backs. He has come out and said it’s his team. He’s the main man. If he can’t deliver time to cut our losses.

I thought I made heaps of valid points. Brooks didn’t do well because

1. Farah stifled him and service was too slow
2. Benji was the dominant half and Brooks was too shy

He’s been through 3 coaches and no finals with any.
Best forward pack we have had in years.

My main point is no more excuses. He is our guy. , he is the man in control. Step up Brooks and seize your opportunity or it’s time to move on. I watched the game with 10 blokes who go for 3 different teams and not one of them would have Brooks in their team.

Mitchell Pearce played 10 years at the Roosters and most of that time was NSW's half. Roosters punted him for Cronk and won two GF's in a row. That's the difference a champion half makes. Reynolds is next level to Brooks.

If that argument is supposed to support Reynolds it's an odd analogy considering that after 10 years at South's they are prepared to let Reynolds go - like the Roosters did with Pearce! Just sayin.

As for the other two both served their clubs well and played a role in securing premierships with great players around

You saw how well Benji played last night outside Reynolds. He looked like a rep player. We haven’t seen that since 2011. Go back through, let’s say, the last ten premiers. The common thread is Cronk, Maloney, Munster, Thurston, Keary, dominant halves who know how to play football. You can interchange players around them but as long as one of those players is in the team you’re going to win more than you lose.

See I think Benji played just as well with us on numerous occasions last year too, along with the errors he has in his game that are still there, but were intolerable for some. Our problem wasn't scoring last year it was defending and playing for 80mins.
I agree with you that a great half back is an assest to any team who wants success,il especially the ones you have named, but can't think of one successful team that didn't have a whole lot of quality players around their halfback to make that success possible. At the same time I'm not making excuses for Brooks deficiencies as a player - just don't think he is soley responsible for the position we are in - ( and or our recruitment choices ) - and we will need more players to significantly improve, and add a few to break the cycle of underachieving - with or without Brooks.
A big day for him tomorrow...and no doubt the the focus will be well and truly on him.

Yep, fingers crossed for tomorrow. Let's hope with a few "easier" games the next few rounds we get a chance to gel and get some combinations going.

I’m no lawyer but if a nrl club gave him a contract think it would be hard for nrl to refuse. He’s no criminal. He’s a footballer who cares about all the other crap.

The conspiracy theory is that Mick who is very pro magpies stated at the AGM that there was no way Wests Magpies would be re branded as Wests Tigers in NSW Cup or RMC while he was there. A week later he was ousted from the board of Wests Tigers and also as chairman of WS Magpies. There has been no official announcement from WT, WSM or Wests Ahfield as to why he was ousted.

Sounds like the Board got it right to me.

Disagree. We largely sign rubbish. They might shine for a bit, but return to the usual garbage soon enough.

When you look at players that have moved clubs in the last 2 years and what we have signed, we have basically picked up the rubbish

I am as pissed as everyone and now starting to doubt my opinion on Brooks and James T but with that said lets have a look at the few shinning lights we have signed..

Adam D puts his heart and soul in every game unlike most
Joe O - He puts in regardless if on the bench, FR or 2nd row
Daine L - This kid has only played like 8 games and is outstanding at the back considering the gaps he has cover in front of him.. special mention for how good he catches kicks considering his size.
LL - Been a bit up and down this year but overall he has become a 80min player in 2 years when he struggled to play 20mins
Stefo - Another young gun who is playing great football for his limited games experience.

Anyway I think its time to make some changes because a few of these guys have had too much of a chance.
My personal thought is that the players go into games thinking they can just score more points and not worry about defence and really the only thing we need to focus on is DEFENCE.... That's it and even win 1-0 should be out mindset moving forward. Maybe we look into an incentive for the players E.g. we keep a team under 12 points and the team can choose a different training schedule or something (Anything really as an incentive) . I know these guys are professionals but clearly need something to boost morale.

Now with regards to recruitment -
I would be on the phone to Brooks Manager ASAP and advising him that if he can find a new club we would not stop him from leaving. (Hell we should even pay some of the freight)
I would give Madden a crack next week even though he is not ready but hey enough is enough and we need to try something.

Last and most importantly - CALL REYNOLDS Manager and chase him hard as this team clearly lacks a general and he would get the team moving forward for the next few years until a solid replacement can be found. ... Us fans deserve better..

No. Yo-yo's are up and down, we are just mostly down so it doesn't fit our criteria.

Here's what I don't get.
I'm not a coach but even I can see that other teams are all able to manoeuvre situations against us that create a one on one with our outside backs with a heap of space and then exploit it with pace or a kick.
Have they not worked on preventing this at training?
Our kick defence in particular is diabolically bad.
Should I send Madge a video of Penrith's defence so he can work out why that doesn't happen to them, and why on the rare occasion that it does there's always 2 or 3 other players there to cover?
