Woods onky works if Tamou is returing/going to super league. If Tamou was taking a contract elsewhere then Id happily take Woods back esp given he is 3 yrs younger then Tamou.

Duffy is unsigned for next year. I wouldn't mind him. If we get him then I'll be open to laurie to 6

I just dont get Why do people want to move Laurie to 6….

Mate I’m with you, he’s been great.

I think a lot stems from an old post from Gus when quizzed on his best position.

He thought 6 over 1.

Lol we just signed Nofo for 4 years and are looking to sign DWZ and apparently Sam Burgess. How’s that building for the future exactly? I’d suggest the ones letting the Wests Tigers down are the ones making those stupid decisions.

Wanting something different to me doesn’t make you more of a fan than me.

That's your argument, 1 re-signing of a long-term Tiger and 2 very shallow rumours?

Absolutely. The re-signing of Nofoaluma is indefensible. The fact he’s a long term Tiger is inconsequential. As for the DWZ one, the Pom said he’d probably be here by the Eels game. So unless you have information better than the Pom I don’t think I’d call it ‘very shallow’.

The re-signing of Nofoaluma in a year when he scored 17 tries, averaged 178m per game, had 3rd most tackle breaks in the league at 118 and was a Dally M winger of the year was "indefensible"?

Yes it was, because it was an anomaly. His previous 3 years were pretty terrible and this year he hasn’t been great either. Extending him for 4 further years to 2025 and the age of 32 is indefensible.

Additionally, even though his attack was good last year his defence was as horrible as always.

So sharks get hynes and good chance of finucane, dogs get ado Carr and Burton and we're looking at Dwz. ?
We must be the basket case of basket cases

Canterbury have tried to buy a team and are finding out the hard way that that's not how it works. We learnt that lesson a few years ago with Cleary. Addo-Carr and Burton are fine acquisitions but I much prefer the way we are going about recruitment.

Just because Ivan made some poor recruitment decisions doesn't mean you shouldn't target excellent, established players. Burton and Addo-Carr are excellent signings. They're getting rid of Dallin because they have signed players who are an upgrade on him. The fact Dallin would walk right into our team is an indictment of our backline recruitment.

Spot on.
Josh and Burton are great buys and would walk into our team. So would hynes.
We should be after finucane big time and if we miss out, questions should be asked. Especially if we are looking at dwz

You don't judge recruitment on players that you miss.

Why not?
You rate everything else to be a success on both ends of the equation, why not recruitment? If we are failing to sign players , we are doing something wrong.

You judge it on the players you do recruit as that is the only thing that is 100% in your control. Missing out on a player in not 100% in any clubs control.

So in regards to teams like Melbourne, souths, etc we are just as successful in our recruiting as we signed Hastings, Gillard??

We don't measure the latrell miss, ado Carr and any others we missed out on?

Seems like an excuse for mediocrity mate

You do realise that both those players, knocked us back and signed for less money with other clubs.

Here's the cruncher - the Tigers pulled their offer to each player.

That would indicate that we did not miss out on Latrine and JAC at all.

However you keep saying we did if it makes you feel better and it enhances your argument.

Let’s make this clear.

Latrell has said he didn’t want to come here because he wanted to craft into his fullback position, not hold the team together and look for him to make the big decision during the game..

Although I do agree the grub didn’t want to come here regardless, which is fine.. I never wanted him.

Jai Arrow has said:

"No disrespect to the Tigers, but the proud history of Souths and obviously Wayne Bennett and the coaching staff here is second-to-none,"

He chose south’s because he had been in the origin camp multiple times with Bennet and Dimitri.

As for Addo-Carr, most likely came down to money and paying $600K a year for what 4 years? For a winger that more or less has 2 years of his playing form before he declines.. I’d prefer to bring a new kid in for less..

We know what we need and I’m glad we’re not paying overs for duds in a few years.. ITS THE FUTURE !

Addo-Carr felt disrespected that the Tigers wouldn't release Talau to the Storm in order for him to be released early from his contract. Plain and simple

You know this how?

A family member of his told me. Same bloke told me he'd agreed to sign with Melbourne about 4 weeks before Josh made his NRL debut with us

Oooooooook. Not saying I dont believe you, but lets put it through a pub test. Tigers offered him the most money (reported by Pom) to sign for 2022 and tried to get him early.

JAC felt SO disrespected that the Tigers wouldnt give up a guy that JAC has nothing to do with.....that he signed for LESS at a club that didnt try to get him early.....for 2022 anyway?

Thats the story?.....Doesnt add up for me. Not saying you are lying, but I see three options, you are full of it, your mate is full of it, or JAC is a complete moron.

He's not a good defender and probably never will be. I think he's the victim of confirmation bias on here a bit though. Any failing is played up and he gets blamed for things that are beyond his control at times. Anyway, I'm sure there would be other people claiming it was indefensible if we'd let him walk.

we have one. he's on the bench tomorrow night. give Stef a couple years and he'll be a star.

Signing Woods would be crazy. He's a pillow in defense and looks average hitting it up. He was always an unconventional prop because he was a weak tackler and was more a crafty offloader than an intimidating runner. Used to make big metres, but most of that was extra metres in reverse after contact and always felt very gentle. I haven't seen him offload regularly for a while now, seems to have lost that part of his game, and his defense is still poor. It's not that he misses tackles, he just has no impact and is about as vanilla as a prop can be. Can't think of a less desirable prop in 1st grade.

Got any news regarding wt?

Not much news to share on WT. Two year deal on the table for Mikaele and currently looking for a winger - which is pretty well documented. There have been some offered to us but they're not really upgrades on what we have. Looking for a quality winger not just a fringe first grader. Seen a few have suggest Tupou, however he wants to stay at the Roosters. Will likely re-sign there, Roosters just need to sort out what is happening with Josh Morris and few others to figure out how much they have left in their cap.

Heard some news that B.Smith had a good offer on the table from the Dogs and Melbourne were warming up to releasing him for the right price but Smith has no interest in going to the Dogs at this stage. He looks to have his eye on the new Brisbane franchise (as is another current Melbourne player) which is why he opted to stay at Melbourne for 2022. He is also looking to move his family to south-east Queensland.

It seems like a few players are eyeing off one year deals/2022 off season as a new team will increase salaries due to the extra money in the league/cap. Kurt Capewell is one of them as he looks to sign a 1 year deal with Penrith.

It's funny how people who go Moses and other players, call them dogs etc now support Woods coming back to the club.

Screw that rubbish.

The guy was club captain and tried to take all our good players to another club.

The absolute last player id let back in the club.

He’s a grub who thought he was bigger than the club. Think of the Hooper interview where he threw the club under the bus. Around that time he was also a regular on NRL 360. He never once defended the club or spoke on behalf of the club. He was looking out for himself. To do all that as captain, made him one of the most selfish players I can ever remember.

No one in this forum would ever throw the club under the bus...

We’re supporters. Even if we do, we don’t walk away. Players on the other hand

He left under Cleary's watch. What's your opinion of Cleary, one of our greats? Ever talked Cleary up yourself?

I’m failing to see how that’s relevant? If he was loyal to the club, wouldn’t have mattered who the coach was.

Can't be bothered explaining...

No, please do. Don’t back down.

The Jason Taylor years were a nightmare from which it was going to be very difficult to recover. I had a conversation with Siro at the time who told me how frustrated Curtis was at being lied to all the time by Taylor. The players hated Taylor. Woods was the glue in a side when certain players were threatening mutiny. When the club shafted Taylor, who by the way was brought in to do a certain job, and signed Cleary, it really hit the fan. Woodsy wanted to stay. He was club captain and wanted to be a Tiger for life. He loved the Tigers and he thought they loved him. When Cleary offered a his old mate, a convicted criminal 200k a season more than the club captain, to play the same position, it kind of rubbed people the wrong way, particularly when Woods had only ever done his best for the club. He asked if he could be upgraded to the same money as the crim and was told to look elsewhere if he wanted more money. It's common knowledge now that we wasted 800,000k for 3 seasons when we could have kept, at the time, ***the best front rower in the game.***

The rest of your post may be correct, but there was never a time that Woods was the best front rower in the game.

2015 Dally M prop of the year, runner up to JT player of the year.

The FB is not our primary problem IMHO, we need to solve crucial issues of wingers and centers for the start, and after that the lock, etc. etc.
We still can't have a luxury of changing the team a round after round with the best players from the previous rounds!:anguished:
