Happy with Joffa and Seyfarth the last few weeks, but still think if we got Finucane he would help teach the squad how to compete every set in defence. Absolute maniac.

Not a podcast, but listen to what Bellamy says about him in the in the post game press conference after the Titans game.

Seyfarth appears to be our next lock. We don't need Finucane and from what we know about Seyfarth, he sets very high standards for his own training which I'm sure other players will note. In amongst the disaster yesterday that was our NSW Cup team, young Daniel Sykes came on and started to hit very hard in defence. You could see he has the drive and competitive spirit Gould often refers to in commentary. Why block our good young players with senior players at the backend of their careers?

Did Roosters need Cronk at the back end of his career when they had Pearce?

Ask the Roosters. We don't need Finucane. Let him get his retirement payday elsewhere. Those days should be over at WTs.

I don’t think you have anything to worry about. His valued at the Storm and his potential replacement in the cheese is looking to move on. So I’d say his a lock to resign for a couple of years with the Storm on about 500k a season.

So he’s good enough for Bellamy but not for us ?

The only concern is his age ..Finucane is NRL quality you would be mad if you weren't looking at him..by age I mean the amount of cash required compared to what we have in the position...Ofahengaue and especially Seyfarth are performing above their pay grade..there are other areas of the roster that needs the cash more..

I think both Seyfarth and Joffa can be bench players next year, pick up Finucane and another hard man like Sua and we are starting to challenge the top sides. The professionalism a Finucane brings would rub off on a guy like Luciano, who is looking overweight and gets found out in the NRL. If we want to be great we need to aim higher.

If you want to aim higher you would sign Joey Manu in an area of more need..

If you could get him, absolutely.

However, if you could strengthen an area of strength even further and have a stronger team, I’d do it.

I asked the Roosters. They flashed their 2018 and 2019 premiership rings at me.

You know, when we were happy to finish 9th.

I was pointing out how rumours become truth. Someone posts something, it get repeated and agreed with.

@spacecub 's rumour was based on what a mate told him, there was no source and no way to verify it. You sounded very sure that Arrow said that, what makes you sure?

A couple of weeks ago a forum member said their mate was a real estate agent helping Brooks to find a property in Canberra. He just made it up as a joke. I bet a lot of people believed it, I did because it would not occur to me to make up a lie for entertainment.

I saw it on FOX, it was printed as a quote in the paper

Their will be players become available as always that are not off contract , Lots happening at the knights with a full review of the football department, most likely heads will roll in the office and on the field, would be great if the club could swoop in on a Barnett, J Saifiti, or Connor Watson

No thanks for any of theirs...we have enough forwards and Connor Watson is terrible. So many mistakes.

Minus their top 6 players they are basically a state cup team...as shown by the fact every team puts 30 plus on them without a sweat.

Yea i saw that - dogs would only want a forward.

Musgrove?

Man we only just signed him up for ages goes to show we do need further support with recruitment

I think Musgrove will struggle to make the 17
Our forwards are really starting to click
I know we signed Musgrove for 4 years
But if another team wants to take him off our hands for full freight then I am all for it
As long as there is a decent quality back in it for us

The question is, do people want Finucane for 800k? Because that's what he's reported to be asking for.

750K per year for 2 years would be good, maybe with a club option. Instant credibility with good players and a culture shift. 100% do it.

Half that, may get him Aloiai grass cutting job.

Cannot for the life of me, see everyone's fascination.

Watching duds at WT for too long mate, ultra consistent, tough, a guy that others want to play with. Tigers always have guys who do the fancy stuff but lack guys like Finucane. He’s a Gareth Ellis.

Now you are joking, he is not fit to lace Ellis's boots up.

Look at his record making grand finals mate, if he’s in your pack you’re going places.

If we managed to sign him for next year he would be 30 going on 31 - Been around for a long time, played a couple of hundred NRL games and 4 for NSW a few years ago and won't get picked again. Yes he won 2 comps with the Storm agreed.

This would be his last contract - is he worth 750k - I don't think so. This would be a Packer, Matulino, Reynolds type signing in my opinion. That is to say WTSRF - "West Tigers Superannuation Retirement Fund" - he is not worth anything like that payment at his age, probably never was. As a leader - non event, Bromich Welch and Smith are the leaders of that Storm pack. I watched him play against the Titans yesterday and was totally underwelmed - it was almost cringe worthy watching him make his runs and get stopped as if shot and then make half a metre PC if he wasn't pushed back.

Personally, I appreciate your enthusiasm for him but I don't think he would be good for us, wouldn't entice anyone else to sign with u s and would just take up a spot in our 30. We have enough good young middle forwards that are only going to get better.

Our opinion on this is poles apart so let’s call it a day, I suspect he’ll stay at Storm and continue to win most weeks anyway.

Yes agreed

Good luck to him - hope he wins many games....with the Storm.

Yea he is not worth the big $ any more
He has been a great player but he will regress now at his age
He has played a hard game for a long time
His body just won't hold up much more
Looking at Finucane now he looks like an old man

I think Bellamy's kind words he spoke about Finucane could well be a ploy to get him more $ at another club
Call it a parting gift

He could be in his mid to late 40s in that photo
And that's being kind

In regards to Finucane good player would obviously bring his ethics and professionalism with him, but with the rate of knots Seyfarth is developing I think he’s our man we just need to get him tied down as opposed to paying into Finucanes retirement fund.

I think is way more than a defensive lock/middle forward is worth. He plays a very similar role to Tamou, Twal and Seyfarth and is probably still better then all of them but Twal and Seyfarth still have room to improve while Finucane is at the end of his career and if he is not on the downhill now, he soon will be. Tamou is the player we brought in for Culture and Leadership and we have others that lead by example.

Paying a forward overs also causes friction with the forwards you already have. I would also rate Trbojevic, Radley, Murray, Brandon Smith, McIness, Nathan Brown, Jason Taumalolo, Yeo, Tohu Harris, Tapine, Matterson and possibly some others as locks with more influence on a game.

I’m not interested in Finucane at all. Way too many red flags. A bloke at the back end of his career looking for the biggest contract of his career when his best footy is behind him. On top of that he’s struggled to get on the field the last couple of years.

Big no from me.

?? He's been in 5 or so grandfinals. Hasn't been injured much. We might need him but don't disrespect the fact that he would be great for a few years yet

Huge fan of Finucane, an absolute quality player and would be an asset to any club fortunate enough to sign him. My biggest problem with it is we already have Tamou to fill that role and steady our young forwards and show them what is required to play the game professionally, I think we are almost there.
Garner 50 games
Twal 80 games
Liddle 50 games
Joffa 115 games
Lucy 74 Games
Thomas 50 games
As we all know, metaphorically, at some point the "training wheels have to come off", Tamou finishes his contract at the end of next year and we are where we want to be.

Agree, probably a great signing (you can always use good players) but where does he fit? But imo, the timing is wrong, we need them, when we need them. But just not now.

We've got a good blend of experience and youth who are starting to gel, he would probably cost an arm and a leg, imo, better to target development and maybe an elite back for mine.

Finally, we appear to be in a good position.

To sign any one of them would skew our salary cap for years. If we had to sign similar type players instead of relying on the young blokes coming through, which would be the preferred option, more realistic options would be:
Magoulis (Sharks) Legitimate ball playing forward
Fitzgibbon (Knights) Good angle runner like Garner with defence
Capewell (Panthers) Great timing and game awareness
Watson (Knights) Not a natural forward, can create opportunities, on field Mr. Fixit
Sua: Think another Joffa
