Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I am glad Cleary is in charge…

Filling the roster because we have cap space will be an even more massive mistake than where we are at now...

I am hoping and praying that gone are the days of signing other Clubs rejects are what make Wests Tigers the best..

Any truth to us supposedly offering Josh Reynolds 3yrs @ 850k per year?

Haven't heard that.

There was an article about is biting back at the dogs and offering Josh 850k a year while the dogs only offered him 500k. No idea if its true. 850k seems a lot flr an inconsistent half. But i guess the most important thing this club needs is culture change and he will help in that.

We definitely shouldn't pay him anywhere near $850K. Just because we have cap space doesn't mean we should burn it. If he's the best availabe then put an offer in for him but he's running low on suitors in the market so there's no need to offer him a massive amount. Cronulla aren't going to offer him much because all they could want him for is a utility role. If he wants to stay at the Bulldogs for less he can stay but paying overs for the sake of landing a "name" half would only put us in a bigger mess. I doubt the Bulldogs could even afford him on a $500K contract at the moment, they have too much locked up in Mbye, Foran and their forward pack.

I thought I read somewhere that Josh Reynolds was on $700k now at the Bulldogs. That's why they were in no hurry re-signing him because he wanted more.

I'd take Reynolds for a few years at $500-$600k. He'd go well with Brooksy I think

He's the type of player you want at the club - passionate, wears his heart on his sleeve and gives his all for the team.

He re-signed back in 2013 on a reported 4 year $1.9 million contract, which averages out at $475K per year. I don't think he's enhanced his worth in the meantime - he was playing for NSW back in 2013 and he's a long way off that now. $450-500K is probably a fair amount for him. $600K would be a stretch. $850K would be insanity.

Nothing to worry about.
According to KIIS FM Cronk and Graham will both be Tigers in 2018.

What a crock of s…peculation!

We wouldn't want that. If we replace them with quality we might not be able to bash the club anymore

Going rate for halves and fullbacks is high.
Reynolds would be a 650k player in this market. He would be a revelation at the Tigers.

I would rather sign more forwards. Plenty of them.

I think we will spend a bit of time sniffing around super league and other club cast offs. I think that it is going to be a lean couple of years.
We need to not buy for the sake of it and pay overs otherwise we will be back in the same mess that we have found ourselves in previously.

You just never know, we may just get these 2 on the cheap which would be unheard of. Graham is on a big backended deal of (reportably) 1mil next year. If we can get the dogs to pay 300k we get him for 700k. Great buy.

Cronk is fast running out of options with Sydney clubs, so if he wants to play on he won't command the million dollars he normally would. Its not impossible to pick up Cronk for less than what we were going to pay Moses and Garham for less than what we were going to pay Woods.

Im still skeptical about Cronk though as i dont think he's playing well. However apparently he played very well last week.

Getting these 2 would change our culture in an instant.

I agree, worst thing we can do is rush into long-term signings at massive overs.

Most new deals of noted players are ~3 years, so if you rush it now for the sake of a few weeks or months, you may have a long-term issue on your hands.

Also there will be another raft of players off contract next year.

Let's hope from now on that we never ever pay overs again and never back load contracts again. The later I know is no longer accepted by the NRL, but let's just not even consider the possibility.

Now is an opportunity to get the house in order, management wise, and move forward with new signings in a very positive way.

I think his value to us is between 600 and 850

He won't watch a team mate get belted late and idly stand by, unlike our current players. He has the attitude we lack, so I think we should go after him hard.

If Teddy had stayed I wouldn't be as keen, but now we will have to re-jig our whole attack, so we might as well start from scratch with a few entertaining maniacs!

Personally I'd go for a few solid signings now then pick the eyes out of the juniors of other clubs. There are lots of footballers like Dylan Edwards who are ready for FG and you can make enquiries at their current club, esp now the salary cap is set for 2018, pick up good young kids who would have a clearer path to FG at Tigers because the existing club is already stocked.

If Cronk plays on, it's reasonable to think that we are the only club that will be in the market for him. We're the only Sydney club that can afford him. It's either us or retirement imo. You could offer him a million and a half a year for 2 years and he would be worth every single cent. Make him a deal he can't refuse and throw him the captaincy on top of it.

I want Cronk but not for 1.5, I think 1.1 is enough. People are losing it thinking he is worth anywhere near 1.6mil. Don't forget the cap will only increase 20% on this years and we will also require an extra 5 players.

1\. Dylan Edwards
2\. David Nofoluama
3\. Taane Milne
4\. Moses Suli
5\. Sandor Earl
6\. Luke Brooks
7\. Cooper Cronk
8\. Ben Matulino
9\. Matt Mcilwrick
10\. Russel Packer
11\. Chris McQueen
12\. Josh Aloiai
13\. Elijah Taylor

You can easily sign him for 1.5\. The rest of that spine would barely crack 1 mil between them.

If we could get Cronk for 2 years it would be a good draw card for other quality signings.

There wouldn't be pressure to win a grand final but really just turn the teams culture and quality around.

If we could pick him up for 1.1m it would be worth it.

Widdop confirmed re-signed by Dragons this morning, 4 years reported $3.6M = $900K p.a. Wonder where Dragons got the money to up the offer so significantly?
