That's merely one of many qualities they need, and definitely not in the top 5 key positional traits.
Wingers in the modern game do more! Running meters are one of the most important stats to look at. They are used for dirty runs! Help out the forwards. Finishing and defence round out the top 3 traits that are probably the most important aspect of a winger. Obviously safe hands.
Of course wingers have to his the ball up, but if their defence is poor and they make a lot of errors then that negates those qualities. And if you're not fast your just a run of the mill player.
Its better than the obsession of measuring a winger based on how fast they are over 100m which regularly happens on the forum. That speed is useful maybe once every 10 games when they get in the clear with no fullback in front of them.
There are lots of important things a winger needs, but it’s very important to make yardage. Why do you think To’o is so good? He’s not particularly fast or tall.
Addo Carr finds his pace more useful than once every ten games.
Possessing genuine pace allows a new dimension in attack such as spreading the ball wide when clearing the ball from near your line as Bellamy's team has been doing. It also facilitates attacking kicks to allow players with genuine pace to follow through as we saw in SOO last year. Finally and most importantly, fast players provide a new dimension in defence not that we would know much about that with the dirty hit up obsession and lack of backline pace..
Pace is definitely important but I think he's talking about specifically being fast over 100 metre, really doesn't get used much. Being fast over about 40 metres is what's important, pure acceleration. That's what makes JAC, Saab and Roberts so dangerous they go from 0 to top speed in an instant
That post represents what is wrong at WTs in terms of tactics and game plan. A lack of innovative thinking. Fortuitously, we have one of the great innovators returning to our club. Perhaps those above Maguire recognise this as well.
I know you have high hopes in sheens but at the end of the day madge and hartigan are still the blokes in charge and running the footy team - sheens sounds like he will be around for them to get advice off

We've got three halfbacks signed up for next year already and he's rubbish. He wants a two year deal as well
Showed no interest in Wests Tigers at the beginning of his career.
He is old and carries baggage. He was also punted by Roosters because he could not lead them to a Premiership. Stay away please.

If that happens does he slot in straight away on our left wing? Where does the Jet go? Back in the centres with Adam, which would then mean Tommy is out.

You don't bring one of the most knowledgeable and innovative minds to the club not to use him. Maguire could definitely use his knowledge and innovation.

KM will be more effective than most of our players getting us upfield early. It changes the dynamics of the game - field position, forward work rate, options etc.
He is a liability in defense but so is DWZ & Issako, most wingers are.
Will be interesting as to what this means for JTJ, TT, AJ & AD once he joins.
100% this is the sole reason brian to o got picked in origin his yardage is just insane
Are you saying if Nofa increased his run metres by 45% he would have got selected?

Roger Fabri is the premier sprint coach in Australia, coaches olympic printers, JAC and JTJ.
He says that JAC is the fastest he has ever personally seen over 100, JTJ much faster over 40m

Hearing it is up to 2023 with a mutual option for 2024.
I suppose that spells the end of BJs time at the club, which given his impact in the last couple of years is not worth shedding tears over.

Brooks is just starting to get into his groove and still has alot more upside to go. He is now our dominant half and unless we plan to get rid of him then getting another dominant half wouldn’t add value especially at his price tag. Prefer to spend the cash on Forwards.

Also the likely end of Kepaoa as well.
