If you can tell me to name names and you have had input to this thread you obviously must have read the posts....but Paws,AVO and others have suggested them as well as Watson....what Im saying its well and good to suggest them,but go and check out their form over the last 3/4 seasons....we have already had enough of players with big reputations landing on our doorsteps(packer,Reynolds Mbye)...Madge and Hartigan are the ones who make the selections and recruitment....I will leave it to them...If they have decided on Gildart and Hastings ,then why not support their purchases first before we go off on another tangent....

They need some depth in the second row (pangai?) a hooker and some young props but they are shaping up a top 8 team if Barrett can bring them together. Not much depth and no development but a genuine chance they have bought themselves out of the cellar

Gee we are coping a flogging this week even though we have the bye..

Everyone is saying we lack leaders and a lot of our players are just happy been 1st grader.. Guess what that is 100% correct and thats why it blows my mind why we are not chasing hard for Funicane.. we have the money and this is a guy by all accounts is a true professional and demands standards.. Shit that sounds like a player we could use :face_palm:
For the 1st time is ages we have quite a bit of money so why not start the domino effect and try and buy him as everyone agrees once we get someone here others will follow as players don't want to come here themselves.

3 weeks ago after ago when all clubs went on the rep bye week we all thought we would have some signings announced in that 2 week period but we seem to be the only club staying quite. Do they not leave the office to see the club is getting dragged from pillar to post ??? Club has said nothing in weeks..

Let's be honest here jonesy - It was Kent that said "we lack leaders and a lot of our players are just happy been a 1st grader" - he basically has an agenda against the Tigers - I think AD, Brooks, Lucy, Liddle, Tamou and Laurie for starters want to win and are just not happy to be first graders.

Secondly you keep posting, get one big player and others will follow, how do you know this? What if we spent 800k on Finucane and nobody else came? You also said "we all thought we would have some signings announced in that 2 week period" - I think you and a couple of others thought, but that is not all of us.

We seem to be holding out for the "right players at the right price" - it will happen when the Club announces them and not before. The Forum can speculate all they like and that is what a Forum does but it does not mean it is going to happen, because a few individuals say so. You can save yourself a lot of grief by just waiting and seeing what the people who have the reins do.

IMO what Kent was saying is true and we do lack leaders.. I do agree we have some core players that do actually care and would cut there finger off to make it happen E.g. Adam D, Laurie, Brooks (even though he cops a lot of crap you put him in a committed side he would do wonders). When I'm watching our team play and things go against us you just don't see leaders controlling this situation and its just heads down..

I will also stand by my comments of buying the 1st top line player and the others will come - I can not guarantee it will work but you can also not guarantee it won't .. I'm of the belief that we have put some excellent foundations down for the club to be successful and our juniors teams are starting to win games and the future it looking promising. But as an employer you have a responsibility to develop your staff (players) so they can be the best they can be but they need leaders to help them along the way (not just coaches but on field leaders) .. We are not giving them that IMO and currently they are looking up to players like Packer, Mbye, Joey etc..
You ask most successful players how they got to where they are and they say they got trained by leaders who set standards.

As much as we have some very talented juniors we don't have them knocking down the door to be regular 1st graders like Panthers have as example. We have a few like Laurie, Blore, Simpkin but none have really stood out like a Walsh at Warriors or Ponga at Knights so its going to take a few more years.. SO for me why wait for a few more years because in this time our brand is getting damaged (like it or not) and our success as a club are based on results..
I as a fan understand they are waiting for the right guy to come along at the right price etc.. but history shows we are not a club players want to come to. So our choices are very limited and can not be picky but if a quality player comes along and fits our criteria I say try and catch him even if we have to pay a little overs compared to the Storm or Roosters etc (not mad money either) ... Once we get though this developing period and players want to be here then yes totally agree on not overpaying. But this is my thoughts and if we were to pick up a TPJ or Funicane I bet all the fans will be at the TV set watching them play and be excited.. Don't forget this is a business and adding players like that add $$$$$$ to the club.

for example ...people crueled me for Saying ( when I used to play )...as if Im a lesser person because I dont have the same beliefs about our game how it is now to when it was real RUGBY LEAGUE....

That's look pretty accurate but who knows as we are not on the inside.. I would like to give the 2 Simpkin/s guys a run in the back half of the comp to see how they handle it week in week out.

Apologies Avo you were keen on Duffty. ..someone else was keen on Watson....but while we are at it a good mate of mine is a Dragons fanatic and member...they want to get rid of Dufty because he is a bad influence to the playing group...what he means I dont know but why would you get rid of a guy with ball skills and speed ?
