Im wondering what we see happening with Pagua. Youd think if her performs ok he would be in line for an nrl contract next year. Given we already have Talau, Douehi, Kepoa, Hoffman, Nofa, Maumalo, Gildart in the outside backs and Mbye i guess then limited spots left

Have heard Hoffman may move on as he feels he was due an op before Pagua based on convos with coach.

thanks mate. has there been much said about William Kei? been plenty of talk around him for years but he hasn't done anything in Flegg or Cup to warrant that chatter imo

The kid to keep an eye on is Jordan Hill. Winger in Flegg. Tall, super fast indigenous kid. Unfortunately did his ACL against the dogs earlier in the year.

Comes from a great family and loves the club. Not signed beyond this year, but seems a formality.

Recovery is ahead of schedule and should be right for pre-season. Can still play flegg next year.

EDIT: Also should mention he's a local Holy Cross boy.

How come all of our best young players are doing their ACLs? Good god.

I think it's pretty common now. ACL's are part of the game. Any player who has a turn of pace and move laterally quite well are going to be at risk.

I know of two kids, both gifted athletes at 14 years of age who have just done ACLs. Never heard of this happening when I was growing up but kids are just bigger and heavier now which must be a contributing factor.

Yeah, i have had a few kids I have coached over the years do them. It was tough being in the area I worked most didn't have private health insurance so ended up on a waiting list for surgery.

By the time the public hospital system gets around to them +recovery time its virtually career ending...and cant expect the club to pick up the tab for every kid that gets injured..

Guess we'll see what Pauga is made of on Sunday arvo. From what I've seen of Hoffman this year, he's no world beater.

Personal sense is, Hoffman's too slow for centre and not big enough for the 2nd row.

Agree, not a massive loss if he moves on.

Plenty of centres not that quick , Jamie Lyon and Matt Gidley two of the better ones, it’s a defensive position in the best sides. Can the Hoff use his shoulders?

Lyon and Gidley are like Jac in comparison to Hoffman

Chris Johns was an extremely under rated centre ...extremely good defensively ...reasonably quick .....great hands

Wasn't under rated by me, he was a great footballer.

Bigger, heavier, training more which applies more pressure and warmup/warm down also another area that has changed. Add to this the pressure to compete is higher with more people etc adds to it.

Quick update;

1) Tim sheens is boarding a flight tomorrow

2) Tigers confirming with NRL if final spot is still to be filled by 1st of Aug due to Covid

Exactly my thinking - strange comment to make. Says we're no closer to signing anyone OR any potential signing involves a swap.

Could mean we for example might be signing Pangai but releasing Billy Walters meaning 29 still so if we need to fill 30 we need 2 vs mayby only 1. Could mean a thousand things or could be not true, etc, etc

Training and good nutrition build bigger, stronger bodies but ligaments only mature with time and can't be strengthened like muscles. They adapt somewhat but not proportionately. I know because I've had both knees done. I weighed 98kg at my peak and my knees just couldn't take it. My brother blew a knee as well. We are weak kneed in our family.

Plenty of centres not that quick !!!!!! LOOK WHAT A QUICK BACKLINE DID TO QLD. You can maybe afford one back who is slow, but he must be very good. As i have said before, all the great sides has speedy backs.

@THE_POM @CCTW @tigerballs @Yossarian @iwasright @Aubanon what’s the latest on TPJ and are there any other players of interest or deals that are close to being done?

Maybe he was only reasonably quick but he was a winner. And smart. Like Chris Mortimer. Chris Mortimer was a beast. A no holds barred, never say die winner. Never got dominated. Ever. I hate the Dogs but I love the Mortimers.

Kinda puts a bad taste in the mouth re TPJ signing. If he was signing he would be the 30th spot and it wouldn't matter unless there is a player swap involved for another free spot.

Thanks for the update and hopefully Sheens is ready early next month.

Couldn't that just mean we sign TPJ and included is a Walters swap so we asking if Walters spot can be filled after the date

Time to get serious and professional, as in the Joker song,- You have to know when to hold them, and know when to throw them. We continually hold onto underrated players, Cini , Hoffmann and others will never be what we need. If they are not scoring tries, and or looking exceptional , find the kids that are!

Can Hoffmann play 13, like Cam Murray. They're about similar dimensions. Has he got the ticker?
