Unless we sign some decent backs, next year will be another disaster. Cini, Hoffman and TT look like they run in gum boots. The rest need someone like Gasnier added to our coaching staff to teach them positional play, and tackling techniques. I hope the Tiger realise when to cut their losses, though i doubt it.

As Murray Talaugi has announced resigned I stumbled across this tidbit in the article.

“The Cowboys were offered the services of English twins Innes and Louis Senior, who are contracted to Huddersfield, but any move now appears unlikely for next year with Taulagi now set to re-sign.”

I just looked these boys up.

The interesting this is that we 'have' to spend a large amount of our cap...and there is really not a lot left.

If Mbye was to go for 50%, we'd have 2 million plus and not a lot to left to buy.

We are in a very good spot to offer other club's juniors 150-200 more than their current clubs can. We just need to get the right ones (like Stefano...Parra could simply not match us with all their rep forwards on decent money at the time we came in)

I'd probably pass on those 3, I doubt we would go back to the Sam McIntrye well, the rest you'd be happy with and would fill current needs.

I think Gosiewski is actually better than people give him credit for and has fallen down the pecking order at a good club. He's a pretty good roster guy who has a history of playing at successful clubs. He's one of the rare players I feel you could get for less than he's actually worth. That's why I listed him. I don't expect him to become Isaah Papali'i though.

I think McIntyre being that he was here before is another we could probably get to fill out the roster and not pay overs for. I also think he's not really ever gonna get a real shot at the Titans but he would here. Quite a similar signing.

Ikavalu just impresses me every time he gets a shot at the Roosters but they don't seem to consider him a top 17 guy. I think he'd be good for our roster.

Yeah all fair arguments, seen a bit of Gosiewski now his hands can really let him down and while he hits hard in defence he gets beaten laterally often, granted Sea Eagles are spoilt for choice in the backrow, but he's not the one I would target when their cap squeeze hits.

I wouldn't say no to Sam, I liked him when we was here, at least he applied himself, but he would only provide depth in a position we need starters.

I Haven't watched Ikavalu play closely, he certainly doesn't stand out, which can be a good thing in a stacked team like the chooks. He does his job, but I can't see a spot in the squad for another average paced winger.

If we can't spend up to our cap the intelligent thing to do would just be to frontload the hell out of our roster so that we can actually pay overs for some stars for 2023 without crippling ourselves against other sides.

Ikavalu had a Cini moment last game played that our fans would have marked him never to play again. Considering his experience we just can’t have another error ridden player.

I don’t think Gosewaski would replace our current back row. We need to focus on players that are strong in contact and give us more control in the ruck. Siro will probably get moved on before him. But maybe target both for an each way bet.

It's looking more and more likely that we will be trotting out basically the same team next year as what we currently have. So 2022 is pretty much a write-off, hopefully 2023 is the year we finally have the cattle to make a impression in the competition.

Don’t hold your breath. 2022 was supposed to be the year that we were to have a clean slate with no Reynolds or Packer. Well, we got grub off the books a year early, and only signed a player no one else wanted (Roberts), and with Packer gone we are signing ESL players. When you see what clubs behind us are doing, it’s depressing. And as hard as it is to stomach hearing the media always stick the boot in, they have a point when you compare our recruitment to other clubs. It’s the worst in the competition and it’s not even close.

I’m betting we do better next year.
Lots of deadwood gone and some reasonable upgrades.
No I’m fairly optimistic.

Innes and Louis Senior look quite good and have a bit of height and pace from their videos on youtube.

I would also look to see whether Tuki can get in the ear of Hellum Luki as he is young also and has quite a bit of size and pace for a second rower.

This builds on the youth policy and future of the side in a few seasons. I want success now, however if we can build a team of players that want to be here and are hungry for success I can wait a little and I stress a little longer.

How complicated is this! Simon Woolford was trying to get them a run in the NRL and nearly had them at the Cowboys but they opted for the young guys they already have. He approached the Tigers ( and others ) about them but apparently, Woolford is not their official manager so we told him to get nicked. Their real manager is not accredited here so can't negotiate with NRL clubs but he has been in contact with a couple of local representatives to see what can be done. They come as a package deal, however, and not many clubs are in a position to make that sort of a deal so we're a massive chance.

Ikavalu scored five tries in one game last year. That's the week he got to play golf with uncle Nick.
