Nine reporting Tariq Sims is free to leave dragons. Two minds on him - feel he is the type of forward we need but age and consistency a big concern.

Definitely another leader. Depends on the cash he’d get I suppose

Don't really rate him to be honest. Played well in a dominant blues team but has been pretty average all year for dragons, 31 as well.

I'd pass. I'm happy with a second row rotation of Tuilagi, Blore, Luciano and Garner for 2022.

Fonua Pole answered a question I asked...

He's just about the best rookie forward we've got coming up at the moment from the junior ranks

Damn, big shout.

Not including the guys who've played first grade I should clarify but out of our Flegg and reserves grade squad he looks a real prospect

Agreed. He's got a pretty good motor and was a standout in SG Ball and certainly wasn't out of place in Flegg either. Wouldn't be surprised to see him named as one of the younger players who get to train with FG up to the Christmas break when the offseason commences.

He definitely deserves the chance to train with first grade. Maybe even a development contract!

Yeah, though prefer it doesn't contain a top 30 guarantee, as WT seem to have a high finger burn rate.

We beat them twice as well, but unsure if he played both.

Sims is 18 months older than Finucane who was considered “too old” on here.

Second row is no longer a weakness IMO. We need outside backs, lock and a front rower to partner Stefano.

Second row no longer a weakness? You’re kidding right?

Simms brings what this team lacks .. he is a competitor and does this team need a good dose of that . But as usual a multiple lot of excuses to why not have a go for him .
Remember this word COMPETITOR that’s the key !

Swap Garner out for Sims is a no brainer. Garner has already reached his ceiling (he’s not a bad player but he’s not a stater when our quality comes through). Sims teachers the younger ones who are already playing minutes how to be a professional. I think this would be a great move. The have plenty of young talent, we just need some better experience around them. These kids aren’t going to learn how to win by themselves

How’s the forwards gone this yr it’s still fresh in my memory!

Our so called second rower that’s not a weakness leads the way for the most try causes in the NRL.

Sims would be a bad signing. He wants a long term deal and is on $650k next season. He has been declining the last two years and constantly gives away penalties and makes errors

Tigers will probably sign him because they're dumb

What about the Madge factor?

Much bigger weaknesses elsewhere.

And Tariq's going to fix that is he?

John Bateman's partner who is Australian apparently wants to come back to Aus. I'd love to have him here with his two other Wigan team mates

I'm afraid you are about 2 days behind - rumour made up by Bulldog Ritchie, hosed down by the player himself.

Oh the player denied it. No way it could be true then

How did the Dragons forwards go this year?

Experience is useless if they let the team down on the field and he would, he would also slow the development of one of our rookie forwards as they won't be getting as much game time if he plays. Just seems unnecessary to me

The club for years has obsessed with signing a "forward leader" thinking it will suddenly fix our problems instead of actually fixing things

Tariq has sucked this year. Poor defender makes errors and not nearly as damaging in attack as Luciano.

Yeah ..current State of Origin players don't fit the Wests Tigers mould..

At least if we signed him that would stop him carving us up every time we play him.
