Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Leivaha Pulu looks to matured into an NRL Footballer… Any chance the Titans would let him go?

Mate I was thinking the same last night. He's been impressive for them this season. It wouldn't hurt to go after Patrick Kaufusi at the Cows either, although he seems to have some history in Queensland and Queenslanders tend to dig in like ticks…

TMM is contracted for 2018\. Wish we could sign him for 2019\. Will be the next JT. Then just maybe he could get an earlier release. Reminds me of JT just before he left bulldogs. Will be Looking for huge $ in 18 months. Just a wish to get him on the cheaper now. Use any spare cap on some big boys, build a pack then the rest would fall in place. We need not panic but now. Need not to be like at the previous boards and continue to make stupid decisions. We need now a change. To be smart and plan, will not be easy. But I believe we could be very competitive, and even be premiers in the next few years. All we need is believe that this can be done and not panic.

No point dropping big coin for moderate players. Someone else will come along in the lower grades at a big club. We may need to be patient. In the meantime get a good pack and backline. Cronulla were regularly finalists with dud halves and then Maloney arrives and it's title time.

Talking about halves. I was quite impressed with Jarome Luai for the Panthers in their NYC game against the Eels yesterday. Given he has Cleary, TMM and Cartwright in front of him, he would be worth a crack.

He looked as good as, if not better than TMM, at NYV level. Bigger frame than TMM as well.

Yesterday was the first time I had seen him so some others might have a more informed opinion on him but I understand he is higly rated.

I wouldnt mind snatching a young gun back from a side that stole one of ours.

Came across this video of him thanks to nothingbutwt.wordpress.com.

Would love to get this kid. Good size, fast, great step and can play anywhere in the backline.

Would be perfect for us.

Nothingbutwt is doing a good series on players we should sign in each position https://nothingbutwt.wordpress.com/2017/04/23/who-should-wt-chase-for-2018-five-eighth/?preview=true

Another Facebook post from Ali has Ava, kev and ti. Grant gone at seasons end

Kev and grant were always most likely to be on the chopping block. Said that back in my original post on here would be a mistake to let Ava go but again depends on the cost. If he's asking for more than $250k then it's better to let him move on and bring a youngster through and sign a mid level prop. This again will add depth.

I've thought for a while that Ava is very similar to JJ geese
And you would think since JJ is signed up for a couple more years would have to get a start over him eventually.
Is there much point to keeping 2 similar players in your side.
Could also explain why JJ is playing reserves getting more minutes as oppose to playing 30nins max in first grade for the year.

Speaking with Timmy, Friday night, he isn't going anywhere. He spoke about how much he likes the place and the change in attitude of late.

Listening to the Kelly Egan interview, just thought I'd mention that Liddle is close to extending his deal with the club and Ava has a contract in front of him to consider.

Liddle is already signed for next year

Yeh I think Egan was referring to a further extension. He noted he was locked up next year.

Love to see Watson at FB and Lolohea at 5/8 next year.

We would have some dash and penetration and Watson is not a bad kicker.

Both players in reserve grade at the moment and not on 1st grade radar at the moment so I would imagine both are a big chance with Lolohea even this year.

Good news Willow. Egan on the ball about locking our future important players away long term so we don't get a repetition of this year. Also, with Cameron Smith close to retirement, the Storm will be on the lookout for another "homegrown talent".

Rothfield's blog today contains commentary that Ava is off to the Sharks next year and that Kev has received the tap on the shoulder (won't be re-signed).

As much as I hate saying it, Buzz is usually right when it comes to the Sharks.

He's overrated tbh. If he can't get a look in at the Warriors you have to ask questions. He's being kept on the wing in NSW cup for crying out loud. Nicoll-Klokstad, Hingano and Lino are ahead of him in the pecking order there. Flashy, can score a try, but has lots of flaws. Funnily enough all three of the other guys mentioned are off contract.

Finally someone in my corner (opposing Lolohea). 100% correct, hed be a superstar at backyard footy but not much else. Doeant have a rugby league brain, thinks its his duty to score on every play. He doesnt offer anything that will improve us and i hope he isnt a marquee sogning.

Lino would be no good either, he has already fulfilled his potential and its nothing more than average. He doesnt look like theres any room for improvement and has zero creativity, if your in a tight spot with 10 to go (eg bulldogs game last night) he wont get us out.

Hingano is good, but hes just a boy. He had a minor argument with his mrs (a cop), threw his toys and was caught (and charged) drink driving away. Hes only young but does not handle the nrl lifestyle well. Hes another 'youngster with potential' and weve just lost a bunch of them.

There is a lot of nz talent in the NRL, the warriors do not contribute much to that, most at penrith.

In NZ as a junior you strive to be noticed by an aussie club, recognition from the warriors (at jnr level) is not considered a huge deal, those who come through the warriors junior system (lino, hingano) dont develop as they would elsewhere, usually come into NRL prematurely and fizzle, the best kiwis are shipped overseas around 15 years old
