Stef”s brother, Filia is back playing. Maybe we can offer a train and trial deal? He is an edge backrower

Hopefully he’s got more going for him than just being Stef’s brother.

Junior rep player. So he is talented

Is that the one that pick up a bad injury at r
Eels?

I'm prerty sure he will spend his life in a wheelchair

He got player of the year for Wenworthville Magpies last year, so he must be good to go

Yes, broken neck and he only has one artery left to his brain, the other one is damaged. I read that somewhere.

That's terrible news

Apparently Stef wasn't happy with pawwas treatment of his brother

Simpkin doesn’t look like a threat with the ball.

Simpkin is 19

Age is irrelevant if you’re playing first grade and are on good coin.

Age shouldn’t be used as an excuse.

If your good enough, you’re old enough.

Liddle has played 56 games in 6 years
Simpkin has played 9 games in 2021
Simpkin has upside Liddle is exposed and has passing deficiencies a back up hooker at best.
Hope we get Hodgo and play Simpkin off the Ben h move Hodgo to lock
Send Liddle packing to Belmore

How about we send Simpkin to Belmore.

He has played 9 games Liddle 56 Simpkin needs to be given a chance Liddle is exposed and ceiling reached one dimensional good runner poor passing game.
Hopefully Sheens urges Madge to push him to belmore or Canberra

What’s the obsession with Liddle going to the Dogs?

One of the few clubs with a worse hooker.

Liddle is definitely better than JMK I’ll admit that but he’s still not that good either

He’s the best we currently have.

Simpkin just needs time after all he’s got that extra year at the moment he’s got till 2024 Liddle only 2023 and that’s even if we keep him till then

Refer to previous Australian Rugby League Players Award 2000, Current Collective Bargaining Agreement agreed with the Rugby League Players Association, TPAs etc. The market you refer to is the NRL and participating clubs have collectively signed off to operate within a nominated salary cap. Players know the operating constraints before signing a contract. Even in the land of litigation USA, the NFL & NFLPA have agreed to $208.2M salary cap ceiling for 2022 season.

Yep....your point being?

As I said the ARLPA Award 2000 sets out the ***minimum*** salary as does the CBA.

No the market I refer to is ***NOT*** the NRL, that is the whole point. Yes players sign up to a NRL contract under the "nominated" salary cap, so what stops them earning money outside of their Contract with their employer?

The REAL market is a lot wider than the NRL and that is the whole point. What if the Steyne Hotel wants to get Tom Turbo to DJ each saturday night through Summer for $500K? What if Tradie want Munster, JAC and Finucane to advertise their undies or deodorant or whatever the hell they are selling? What if Foxtel wanted Craig Wing to appear on a fashion show.........what regulation stops these guys making $$$.

They probably have a contractual requirement to at least seek pre-approval from their club (and probably the NRL as well) before engaging in secondary employment because both the club and the NRL would want to ensure that they were not making bank off the back of IP that isn't theirs.

There is probably another clause that limits their capacity to engage in secondary employment that would interfere with their obligations under their playing contract.

Anyway, this has nothing to do with signing suggestions and rumours...

What a joke

The NRL is a disgrace

If that was the tigers trying to lure a contracted player we would be burned on the stake

The knights have had employees left right and center endorse Brooks to their club even though he has 2 years left with us

Making bank of other peoples IP is covered by copyright and property law, not NRL regulations.

It's Everyman for themselves for the nrl. Wests tigers will have to fend for themselves.

Danny was carefully worded in his Sunday article to point out his article the time line on previous articles were not enticing Brooks. We must of formally complained but hasn't stopped anything really. I guess the media has slowed down from weekly to daily articles now

We played without a halfback all season

We've got Hastings who is a 7. Unproven sure but he's a halfback

Im continually confused how people believe that Simpkins' performance was better than Liddles this year. Liddle may not have been great but Simpkin was way out of his depth.

The team's best performance all year was against Souths with Simpkin playing. Not a coincidence

He was also the one that Burgess ran straight past to score the winning try. Yes great game.

U do realise we were a a man down cause talau was in the sinbin as well?

Also wasn't that his debut game as well?

It was. But if you think that’s an excuse, look at Cini.

Are you not referring to the conversation were these people where talking about Simpkin missing a tackle against souths? Or are you just randomly spurting out points?

You acted like I brought that up. I just asked why it was warranted to hate on for him one bad game, while the other is getting a rails run by a section of the forum.

Ok cool, now Im just telling you why they are two completely different scenarios. Giving up faith in Cini has multiple factors to it.. Wheres he gonna play? Fullback? No I think most would rather see Dillon or Laurie there, centre? Pass. Wing? Not quick enough. Simpkin on the other hand, his only competitor is Liddle in this squad, of whom cant pass a ball. Clearly the club see it fit to keep him on given no one has established themselves in that position.

Liddle can't pass a ball? Really? Sorry, I (semi-) respectfully disagree. Liddle is the best hooker in the club, and one of WT best players of 2021. End of story. Simpkin has a lot of improving to do in 2022 to unseat the starting hooker role from Liddle.

If your satisfied with his service, thats on you. Lob passes, tired after 30mins. But if your okay with that, cool. Let me ask you something, why are we talking to Hodgson then? Is it to play liddle on the bench? How many years do you want to invest in this bloke? I think ultimately the club sees the very obvious, hes not up to it, buy a stop gap for now, develop the young fella, and try again. He cant pass. End of.

I saw that. What was noticable though was Danny Weidler leading the conversation to Luke Brooks and asking Pearce directly about him to which Mitchell just answered honestly. Was the same with Joey the other week. Weidler again pushing the agenda

The fact there is a debate between Simpkin and Liddle automatically hands it to Simpkin. He's played 50 less games and is 6 years younger. Clearly is the better player - he's miles ahead of where Liddle was at the same stage of their career. Liddle seems like a good guy with some talent but he can only pass left and regularly missed 5+ tackles a game

Going by that logic, if there’s a few people stupid enough to debate that Billy Walters is better than Nathan Cleary, he must be.

He hasn't even played a game for us yet, pretty ridiculous to write him off

I would much rather take a chance with Hastings than have another year of the same old Brooks. At least there's a chance he can exceed expectations
