Love this place.
Robson….. best young prospect going around, will be NSW 9 in a few years………. No thank you worst hooker in the NRL…….. damned if we do, dammed if we don’t….lol

If he is that good and under contract for 2 more years why are they so quick to offer him... Because he is just a standard hooker and we already have Liddle and Simpkins on our books. The games I have watched him he has not stood out

Haha oh OK...

Yeah JMk is the worst.
You guys are correct.

@GNR4LIFE @Leichardt99 @weststigerman

???

He’s also better than Simpkin…At this stage.

Simpkin is still building to being an NRL hooker. His development has been hit by the 2 Covid breaks in the lower grades.

The next few years will be interesting for a number of promising young players that missed so much football.

Simpkin has all the skills a hooker needs to succeed in the NRL. He just needs more time to hone his craft, i.e. perform those skills at a higher success rate. Once he gets the small mistakes out of his game, he'll become more confident and we'll see how good he really is.

That’s exactly what I mean. The amount of football the kid has missed at a crucial time has set him back a little. Get him on the field and he will progress quickly.

Reece Robson is probably the worst hooker in the NRL so I’m not surprised he was offered up. Glad we said no.

Jacob: Hold my beer

Jacob - the game finished 10 minutes ago, that’s how long it took you to get to dummy half.

Brent Read said today that we knocked back a player swap attempt from the cowboys for LL. Anyone know who it was?

I heard it was Coen Hess.

Tim tried 2 get him in 07???i hope we have no connection 2 Hess at all/Hess has played disinterested 4 years

From what I've seen, Robson is lightening quick, holds his spot in defence and can sniff out a try close to the line. However some of his service is below part time dh standard, and he does not read the game particularly well if at all. His qualities are not the same qualities the tigers saw in Hodgson.
If true I understand why the cows offered him up, I also understand why he was promptly declined.

I think we wanted a guy big on experience and toughness who would command a dressing room and drive a more competitive environment. Not sure Robson is that, whereas that was probably the main factor driving interest in Hodgson.

Rumour has it the swap was not for Robson but Coen Hess

He just re-signed

If memory serves, that happened just after a stint in the #8 jersey. I thought he actually found his groove a bit there, the game is very suited to a big mobile prop at the moment

Hodgson teaches Liddle and Simpkin, Robson is on par with them. Hodgson has a kicking game. Robson does not. good decision to say no.

Wot about the Bulldogs out there spending like wild men in the dark , def should be an enquiry into this

This from Gould who stated on Ch 9 Monday League show that when asked about the Tigers he said that the only way for clubs like the Tigers and lower ranked clubs is to build within (developing juniors)..'its not a short term fix'. Well the hypocrisy is mind blowing.

Whys that make him a hypocrite? He's right...
The Dogs and Parra aren't clubs like the Tigers - They have money - That they like to spend on the Football Dept.
I remember a few years back now, When the Wests Group (Ashfield / Campbelltown) and Balmain Leagues put in 150k each (300k Total) To the Tigers Football dept.
Canterbury Leagues put in 4 mill.

Dogs were playing in GF's, We were overpaying Adam Blair.

Yea , that’s some 2018 type scenarios there mate . In the last few years the investment in the football department has gone up leaps and bounds , and come the end of this offseason even more .

Wests Ashfield put a million into the Tigers last year.

What's good !?

Sorry mate, don't have an update but I'd say our chances are improving after LL signing. I don't think we'll know anything until the borders open. I heard the Cowboys are shopping Jordan McLean around. If they can't offload him they won't be able to offer Luki or Nanai anything decent. I'd double down and go for the both of them.

Great idea.
Realistic too.

McLean - no thanks.

Thanks for posting.

Better off shopping in Doubles - Especially if we're asking young blokes to re-locate.
Much more chance of it happening if a best mate is coming with them.

I've also had this opinion when shopping O/S, Cherry picking is harder than pack hunting.

Is what we did with Simpkin / Hoffman.

They're probably mates with Tuki too.

A good judge told me the other day Christian Ma’anaima might be one of our best signings. We won't be chasing front rowers with Stef, Twal, Musgrove, Seyfarth and Ma'anaima Joffa and Tuki. Reckons Ma'anaima is as good as Stef!

I wouldn’t mind knowing why despite the fanfare of his proposed talent he left Newcastle whilst part of the top 30 squad and joined us on a NSW cup contract. Not even a train and trial.
Big demotion really. Why would anyone make that decision? What is a NSW cup contract these days? Is it still part time?

He's got both Saifiti brothers, Klemmer and Jesse Sue as well as Mitch Barnett at Newy. Newcastle are pretty blessed for middle forwards.

I think he's backing his talent to make a go at it with us. Would have been easier for him to stay with Newcastle in the top 30 place and play a couple of NRL games a season, instead he's stepped outside his comfort zone to try and make it the hard way. Playing the long game
