Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Tonza you are probably right. Would be worth a look though. We have the cap and surely the Roosters don't. Maybe he might want a stable team 1st and a winning environment to keep him on the straight and narrow 2nd. Would be a great pick up.

We tried to lure Ferguson during the off season but he rejected after he went into google maps to realised there are more early openers in the eastern suburbs, only needs to wear his HULK disguise from the show bag pavilion to avoid detection.

Next year is Lawrence's last on his contract would you resigned him and if so for how long been a great club man and not on big dollars I think sign him for one extra year and tell him you mite see time on the bench

Ok, but I thought Lawrence was on good money.

Has been said that Blake Ferguson is off the booze. He is playing like he has been and like the natural athlete he is. If true i would have no problem with him playing with us. He is the strike power we need. Only thing is, I like my wine and tell myself to let it go at times. I do for a time but i like my wine. Can Blake keep it up? If Ivan can keep him clean for 2 years he is a X factor player. I say yes lets get him.

I doubt we could get him at the supposedly discounted price the Roosters got him for this year. His resigning was probably conditional on him getting off the grog etc.

Would you take him after last nights defensive effort? One of the tries was scored because he came in off his wing leaving his opposing winger unmarked. His centre Manu had his opponent covered and even if he passed the ball it was still one on one. For a supposed SOO player, you would expect better from a novice NRL winger.

Perfect for our Massey cup team

Like Robbie Rochow ay?

Robbie Rochow had shown he had it in him in his time at the Knights. Jason Clark has never shown anything.

x2 - Clark is softer than a Marshmellow Fart - heck I'd have Brooks in the back row before I'd entertain Clark from Souffs.

Up there with Dean Young in bog average players to have won a premiership.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Lawrence was veterans allowance so he doesn't come under the cap anyway? Why not offer him another year if it doesn't come from the cap and he continues this form?

I just want him to stick around long enough to break Farah's record of most games played. No player that's put on our jersey deserves that honour more than the Rowdy one.

The $200,000 veteran/development player sum can be spent on either a veteran who has spent eight or more seasons at the club or a development player contracted to his current club for two or more continuous years before they are handed their first NRL contract. The development player is only eligible for the payout up to the age of 22.

Lawrence is contracted for 2019.

Agreed. After tonights efforts the Chooks might even send him to Regge's. It was more then once and people laid into Teddy, but Fergusson was a complete idiot on the wing. If their middle did not collapse so badly I would wonder if Fergo Rigged it.

Back to the future for the Eels?

Well, it seems that way according to reports that Junior Paulo will rejoin the club possibly before the June 30 deadline this year.

Triple M and The Australian's Brent Read, as well as Channel 7's Josh Massoud have revealed the Eels today offered Paulo a lucrative contract to come back to Sydney's west.

The deal is a monster with Ready reporting the figure is upwards of $700,000 per season.

Must be getting desperate paying that amount
Parra about to start digging themselves a big hole
If they want Masour as well surly they will start to have cap problems

I would love to sign Junior Paulo but not at that ridiculous price. Considering what Packer and Matulino are on, he isn't worth anywhere near that figure. However, he is still a BEAST!

The halves are all about a combination that compliments each other and brings different things.

Massive no for me Brooks at 5/8 with Cleary.

Just cant see it working

Lol that comment has zero to do with Chris Lawrence :unamused:

I think they would compliment each other actually.

Cleary's got pretty good organisational skills and is growing into a quality first receiver who can direct a team from first receiver and is an exceptional kicker and goal-kicker (which we badly need) while being an effective runner and passer too. Brooks on the other hand is best suited at second receiver where Ivan's been using him with Benji at first, with Brooks' strength being his running game and taking on the line particularly around the ruck or on the edges with runners outside him.

I think 6\. Brooks and 7\. Cleary would work well, especially on two fronts - 1\. With Cleary as first receiver and Brooks as second and 2\. Brooks playing our left attacking half and Cleary out right attacking half. It gives us flexibility while maintaining the right foot/left foot kicking split.

He was but on his last contract he did the club a solid and took a pay cut for his 2017 dollars which was rumored to between 650K and 750K and took a new contract of 450K a year for three years starting in 2017
