I posted on here last week that we should raid the bulldogs for both Cotric (23) and Thompson (26), **both with immense talent but weren’t able to showcase that talent in a TERRIBLE dogs team.**

Seems like we’re putting the wheels in motion to jag both and get dogs to chip in….

For the first time in a while, I can genuinely say I’m very happy with how the club seems to be projecting itself with all the signings and rumoured players we’re talking too….. if all goes to plan with all the young stars we’re jabbing we might be Penrith 2.0 in 4-5 years

Will our team be any better though?

Anything will be better than last year.

Looks like Nanai has played with our Dudley.

Dudley’s gone mate. Nothing official yet, big city isn’t suiting.

Yep, heard that too.

Really wow that was fast.

That is disappointing. The kid looks a real talent and was looking forward to seeing him develop in Tigers colours!

Our side looks much better with these two in it.

But is it better than the side who beat us 38-0? Cotric reeks of being the kind of player who needs to be in a good side to shine.

Yes. I think Cotric would be good for us but can see why you think otherwise. Time will tell if he signs

$600k 2 year deal for Nanai... so is that $600k a year or $300k a year?

If the latter then I think that's great business.

The amount is usually per the whole contract when said like that

$300k/yr

I wouldn’t call 300 a year for an 18 year old good or bad. I’d say it’s pretty standard. It will be good if he takes off like Stefano did though.

He seems to have big wraps on him and it we don't put a decent offer on the table I think the Dolphins will pounce as they need players big time.

The beautiful thing is, we've made offers to both Luki and Nanai and the Cows can't match either. It's only the Dolphins that stand in the way. The border closure is holding up the negotiations but we're almost certainly going to get one of them.

Are there still closures ? Didn’t stop Brandon smith going around the country in a matter of weeks

With the player market as it is if we were to land Thompson and Cotric as well as swap Luc for Nanai - I would see that as about the best result we could hope for. It certainly is a good upgrade on our squad and lays a good foundation for further upgrades at the end of 2022 season.
My only concern is still Hooker/dummy half as IMO our current options do not possess the qualities that this position provides the top teams with the players they have in that role. What this means is that our other spine members are required to take up more of the load and also we need to develop a real leader in the forwards.

It's smart but they can both reject the offer if they like living in Townsville.

Far out, current forum mood is chalk and cheese from where it was after the Canterbury loss. If a couple of the mooted changes can be done in the coming week then a very solid off season of trade business. No marquee but lots of upgrades and exciting youth. Certainly steps in the right direction and a real plan to put a young talented core together that hopefully emulates the rapid Penrith rise from a couple of years ago.

To be fair it’s a pretty active off season on the forum.

The way we do business has certainly improved in professionalism, we are holding our nerve and not making desperate plays at risky buys on overs. Media articles have shifted in recent weeks too and is helping to remove the stink around the club with attracting players. These recent signings will only encourage even more talent to take the plunge.

Some blokes find it near impossible to adjust to city life, not just indigenous either

Bringing an 18 year old down from far North Queensland is a risky proposition imo.

So we shouldn’t buy a 23 year old who has played SOO. Shouldn’t buy an english international to play prop. And we shouldn’t buy a promising 18 year old who has big raps on him. Who should we buy then?

Agree . . . since we signed IP, the media has nearly shown us respect.
Nearly.

Some improvements.
May be even more once Pascoe is gone too.
