Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I'm not a fan of Ross at all. Any guy who jumps up and down with joy at scoring a try when his team is down by 50 is the self absorbed type I don't want here. Cant get over the game he did that.

Ross is a decent winger and an ordinary fullback.

We don't need either.

Would rather wait until a decent centre becomes available.

I used to admire Nathan Ross but I’ve gone off him big time. He’s too self absorbed, he can’t stay away from The Professor and is an immature Matty Johns Groupy… same mould as Corey Norman!
He’s not that quick anymore and he’s limited to the wing.
We need a scud missile to ignite our backline.

I’m sure Ivan decided on the modest extension for Marsters. It makes sense, Marsters has shown potential but he’s not fully proven yet, he’ll be looking to transition into the back row in 2 years, which he should really excel - hence the contract extension.
His pace was shown up a bit against Manly.

The way I see it … we need a really good centre and fullback.
And they have to be a class act. No stop gap measures.
If we can achieve such signings for this year then the club has a very good shot at this premiership...... and as soon as it happens I’ll be putting my money on those good odds on offer right now.

Would hope we could secure Marsters for longer than 2 years. 3 or 4 would be better imo. Great kid.

Yes. I would like to know whether it was Ivan or Marsters who limited it to 2 years….

2 years Is fine.
If they decided on 4 years and his form dropped what would be said then.

I…... I just don't rate him.

He's Newcastles version of Beau Ryan - has true love and heart and soul for the club, but lets be honest, he's just not that good..

He's been a walk up in a side which has been NSW Cup quality at best over the last two years and would struggle to avoid NSW/QLD for any of the other 15 sides in the NRL.

Agreed. I actually compared him to Beau Ryan aswell last week to a mate. There's not much to him.

I'm beginning to think we don't need to sign anyone. I think that some of the players that we already have are fast developing into the type of players we are saying we need to sign.

Marsters is well on his way to being our strike centre, Thompson is looking more and more like Brett Hodgson each week (and that will do me). I also think that both Aloiai and Chee Kam are fast becoming weapons in the pack, Jacob Liddle has 'next superstar' written all over him and Brooks….well we all know what Brooks can do now he is playing with confidence.

Add the 'go forward' and tireless work rate of the entire pack and you have a completely well rounded team if you ask me. Bugger buying any so-called marquee players!

Would really love to add dufty. Man that kid can play.
Comes off contract at the end of 2018.

End of 2019

Wikipedia must be wrong then.

It's just out of date, he extended for another 12 months earlier this year:

I had a feeling all the way through the off season that Grant would leave mid season. Seems way down the pecking order. If he gets a first grade opportunity elsewhere he should take it.
