The word keeps getting louder that the Roosters are preparing the biggest package deal rugby league has ever seen to bring Ivan and Nathan Cleary to the club in 2020.

Nathan can write his own cheque with Roosters boss Nick Politis, while there is no salary cap for coaches, meaning that Ivan can command his own asking price as well.

The Roosters are likely to be in need of both a coach and a halfback in coming seasons - and the Cleary's fit the bill perfectly.

Trent Robinson is a fine coach but he has been at the helm since 2013 and the players don’t seem to be responding to his words any more.

The Roosters have struggled for form all season, despite having one of the best rosters in the league on paper.

At halfback, star signing Cooper Cronk comes off contract at the end of 2019 and will be ready to hang up his boots.

There is no way the Panthers could match the Roosters in a bidding war for Nathan’s services - and in two years he may just be the best halfback in the game, such is his potential.

If this does happen ill stop watching league…and i mean it

I think a lot of people will… It would be the start of a dynasty.. They would be practically unbeatable

I don't know how they can say Trent Robinson has coached well. It was like Mal in Origin, blind Freddy could have been "coach" of that team and they would have won just as many. If they don't win this year, the coach may not last till 2019, and if Teddy doesn't set the world on fire, he just might find some himself on the wrong side of a drug scandal and let go SKD style.

The way of the Rooster.

Hearing @WestsTigers are very close to announcing the signing of promising young @NRLKnights fullback Nick Meaney. Also hearing @WestsTigers are keen on Martin Taupau from the @SeaEagles & Josh Mansour from the @PenrithPanthers. All are for 2019 and beyond!

I would like Meaney and Tapau, but we shouldn't go large on Mansour

Where is this twitter coming from?

Lol, people on here were predicting this exact scenario at the start of the year- it's like it's scripted!

I hope Ivan Cleary (at least) has the integrity not to link up with such an unscrupulous pack of aholes as that club.

If the Roosters don’t get the Cleary & Cleary package, then I can see them making a big play for Mitch Moses.

The lurker should know that when you make up rumours you have to make them actually sound credible with no glaring errors on facts . He says there is “no salary cap for coaches” … but there is ...

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/nrls-57-million-salary-cap-on-coaching-staffs-to-keep-competition-on-level-playing-field/news-story/9f2e6b4936320a70397adfefaf5a37fc?login=1

This season the NRL introduces a $5.7 million salary cap on coaching staffs. It’s another move to keep the competition on a level playing field and to stop irresponsible officials from sending their clubs broke in what has become an arms race to get an edge on rivals.

While $5.7 million might seem plenty, consider the size of football departments and the level of professionalism these days.

Just say Bellamy gets $1.2 million a year at Storm, which he probably deserves. That leaves $4.5 million for three assistant coaches, at least two physiotherapists, a doctor, welfare and recruitment managers, a head of football, team manager, performance analysts, sports science staff, game day trainers and the rest.

Hi Guys, I’ve been with the forum a little while now and I need some advise … please.
How do you reply directly to a particular post?
I normally click on the reply button at the bottom which when other posts are made simultaneously results in my reply not directly addressing the post that I intended.

You can edit out the posts that you don't want after you hit reply, but if you reply to the persons post by clicking on the quotation(") in the top right corner of post box it should not be an issue and you will be straight to where you want to be.
Hold your mouse over the (") and it will say reply with quote, there are 2 icons on each post, click on the far right one in top corner

Per 851's reply, just click the small top right square " icon and all text in that post, including up to three previous posts already quoted by the most recent poster will appear.

Scroll to the bottom and click below the last of the text, which should be to obtain a cursor ready to type your reply. If you are using a tablet or phone, naturally you will be tapping instead of clicking.

Hope that made sense and good luck.

Why worry!

Seriously why worry. OK say if Ivan stays with us next year and builds our team. Great. Ok in 2020 he joins the Roosters and they swap 800k Cronk with 1.2M N Cleary. So WHAT. It's a downgrade and a big one at that. Yes N Cleary is appearing to be a good halfback but he is no Cronk or Pearce yet.

Cleary is a good coach and a good coach for us. He is no superstar, he has not won a grand final and he did not take Panthers there. Oh and he leaves, we call Des, Michael McGuire, Trent Robertson*, Even Barrett who by then will probably get the arse from Manly. Unlike past times there will be good hands in the air. Oh and we miss out on N Cleary…. With the way Luke Brooks is guiding our pack I don't care.

Don't get me wrong, I like Cleary. He has been perfect in building us from a bottom 4 side into something better. If he stays, is loyal and reasonably successful, we will reciprocate. If he signs for Millions with Nick and the Roarters, fine. They get a good rebuild coach that will keep them from the wooden spoon and we can go hunting for someone different.

*Easts are not going to roll out for Cleary. They are going to roll out for Bellamy and say it's time he changes clubs. If that fails then they will go for Green, Cleary or maybe Flanagan. If that fails I expect Des and Toovey to be in their sights. Des would be a good fit for Easts.

Crikeys we need to stay away from Des, Manly and the Dogs will take years to recover from his mess

OMG have only just seen my very first forum post, and must say all the genius thoughts I was having are nowhere to be seen. It looks so unintelligible and needed a paragraph or two.
In all seriousness though felt good to vent a little and I managed to sleep like a baby after it. Think I was driven to rant after the boyfriend commented how it was just a game. So at least I finally got to tell him how I really feel about the Warriors, who I have secretly hated since 2011.

Not sure what the protocol is, but everyone else on here seems very familiar with each other. So here goes. My name is Lauren, I'm 28 and currently live in Brisbane though hail from central NSW.
My love for the footy began with the Balmain Tigers, rewatching a helluva lot of old games with my late grandfather while recovering from a car accident. They got me through some very tough times.
When Wests Tigers were formed weirdly I loved them even more than the Balmain Tigers.
I only ever went to one game which was with my Pop and though I can honestly only remember a player (named Ben Jeffries) it is my best/favourite life memory thus far.

Today I feel more optimistic. I believe our strong start shows us what a great coach Cleary is and what the team are capable of. Plus we may have both Packer and McQueen in this week. And now after those losses we realistically see what we are lacking as a strong competitive team.
Players who have impressed me this year are Thompson and Lawrence. Liddle has too but his size worries me. I think that Brooks has been great on the development front and maybe the Origin drivel or Benji is messing him up. I'm not totally against Benji because up until the Knights game he was good for us, yet old Benji is creeping back in. I think Marsters and Chee-Kam are improving and I enjoy watching Twal and Aloiai. Before Packer's injury I loved both he and Matulino. Thought Matulino was fantastic in the Manly game.
So those are just a few of my thoughts.

Though I probably wont comment frequently, I cannot go without my daily dose of this forum and look forward to reading the good, the bad and the ugly.

No girlz aloud, Boyz only….................unless you join the MCK fan club?

Would you like a spell on the sidelines…?

How about we sign no one and let the juniors come up thru the grades and make it a 10 year plan

we have been on this plan for the last 5-8 years with little or no benefit.

The Tigers make the NRL i tell my Rooster and Souths friends we are the organ donors of the NRL no other club has so many good Ex first grade players playing at other clubs like the Tigers

Organ Donor I love it. Have been using this line for supplying wingers to the Storm. 3 Tigers fans at work still go on about losing Korobiete and JAC. It comes up at least once a week for the past 2 years.
