Did he grow up a fullback or just wants FB money?

My wife’s from Forbes and my brother in law grew up playing with Staines and Burton.

He said Staines was always a fullback and coming through was a much better player than Burton, used to carve up as fullback.

Hard to believe looking at him now, obviously hasn’t kicked on like many expected.

I reckon we should get Staines. He runs it back hard and he is fast. He probably doesn't make our top team right now but that will change. He might also be a better option than Laurie at fullback.

If we could snag Burton that would be huge. He is better than Brooks and Doueihi.

I think it's a bumper deal compared to his current salary of 200k

We shouldn't be entertaining recruiting players that aren't marquee ones.
Preferably two backrowers.
We are starting to get competition for spots now so we have backup. We just need game winners, quality players who know how to win at top 4 level.
Enough of these players who show promise but could just up in NSWRL.

He may "eat most of our backs up" but he couldn't catch our hooker over 90 metres at LO last season. Recall Liddle trapping a kick on our 10m line at LO last year, pursued by Burton and Staines. They made no impression on him. One of my favourite memories from last season. (Not many happy memories from last season I'm afraid.)

Liddle can also eat most of our backs up. Just not good at choosing when to use his speed.

Totally agree, i think in todays game outside backs need to be adaptable across the back 5 to be successful.

I think Staines was a victim of his own ability at fullback and that hasn’t given him the versatility needed in todays game.
