No he signed a contract with Penrith 18 months out from starting after he tried many times to get an extension which was refused by the warriors Gus was willing to wait and said that many times then the warriors said you can go at seasons end they lined up Cappy to take over

Can we just take the three of them and say ala Rooster we traded Grant for Taupau Robbie for Luke and Kevvie for Klemmer and we are still a million under the cap and looking for players to strengthen the squad for the coming season

Solid first graders is the best we got. I don't see where the optimism comes from except blind faith.

I have faith in the coach. We also have locked up our pathways from Concord to the Southern Highlands. I like the long term strategic approach.

Our last 2 months of footy have been poor which is the case when the whips start cracking our lack of talent shows. Effort can’t win games against better teams on paper when they are desperate. Sadly even the Titans, Raiders have more talent.

What's news on the pathways front? I really need something to cling to atm.

This only helps a bit. We need to focus on the kids in SW Sydney and make sure we secure the best young players there are. We would currently rank last out of all Sydney clubs in terms of both the attractiveness to prospective juniors and success rate in signing the best young local players.

As long as we keep losing the best local kids to the Roosters, Eels, Panthers etc it doesn't really matter about having a pathway for players in the southern highlands. The volume is vastly different.

It's good to cover regional areas - don't get me wrong but we need to get our backyard in order first.

Did it do us any good fostering young talent - get them to the point of some reward and someone else pinches them.

Why???

You just buy them like the Rorters. Cheaper in the long run.
 
After the Q and A, I imagine all 6 off contract players have gone up to Ivan and said what do you mean there’s 6 free spots for next year, I’m one of them?

If ever the Tigers were going to stand up and show the benefit of a mostly new roster and new culture, it would have been at Leichhardt last Sunday, Robbie back, Mbye here,but they played like amateurs, well cultured amateurs I might add, leaderless rabble is more accurate, for next year and two after that we have four players on huge contracts, two of them we apparently knew were injury prone, Matt’s and Jrey,two of them Packer and McQueen have not done much, 2.5 mil of our cap gone for the next three years,like most others, I was hoping for improvement, but when you look at the cold hard facts above, we have many more years as also rans, ladies and gentlemen
 
Why did we let Tatola go, or Paseka, or Ava? I guess next year we could do a swap with Newcastle, the lunch man for mikale, lunch man would be 40 now surely, so good value

How much are these huge contracts?

750 Reynolds, 690 Packer, 450 Matulino, McQueen 450

Hardly huge contracts in this day and age.
 
pretty huge when you are not delivering as a player Russell, how much do you take home per year, bet it’s nothing like you hav quoted

The age pension doesn't quite stretch that far - no.

We are talking about 3 Internationals and a SOO player. Apart from Matulino and his knees, the other three were not inflicted with permanent ongoing injuries when signed. Matulino has been playing on those knees for years in the same condition.

I still say they are not huge contracts - they will deliver imo although if you disbelieve this that is ok too.
 
So we’re losing Naiqama, DWZ, Grant.
We’ve already lost Milne, Suli, Drinkwater.
We bring Farah in for a farewell tour and get rid of Killa.
We’ve signed Mbye ✅
McQueen hasn’t been sighted
Reynolds, Packer, Lolo seem to have long term injuries (not initiated this year)
We don’t appear to be chasing any elite players unless you count the coaches son.
We tell a world class prop he is surplus to our needs
Are we perhaps looking to sign a recruitment manager that doesn’t have his head planted up his….....
