Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I really like Joffa. When we were a terrible team the last couple of years, he was always leading the defensive line, trying to meet ball runners, always putting his hand up for another carry.

However, the Tigers forwards are vastly improved this year. This means Joffa isn't AS important as he was before. Doesn't make him worse, just not as prominent. And because of that, he's somewhat expendable. I don't think anyone can accuse him of not having a dig. If he has a chance to play more at Parra- good for him- good luck.

Seyfarth, Blore, Kepoua, Matamua & James are going to be relied upon to fill that roll at a more budget friendly cost, while additionally developing their game.

If the contract numbers are close to correct, moving on a bench player at that cost makes perfect sense.

Maybe/ hopefully they do.
I have been encouraged that there has been a lot less info in the media about the Tigers from Club insiders.

The only leaks are those by managers agitating for their client.

For the first time in ages I feel confident that the Tigers Leadership will secure a beneficial outcome IF Joffa is allowed to leave.

Seyfarth?? the less we see him in the team the better, much better option would be Furner, he could play short stint, and would certainly make more post tackle meters and provide more off loads !

Could we be playing our new target #7 tomorrow?

Perhaps Joffa to NQ as part of an arrangement there as Tamou, McLean are coming towards the end up there.

I’m also thinking Schuster may now be courted more than ever. If he is told he is our backline voice & leader, Brooks as non dominant half, Bula to run off him etc, it may just help bring out the best in him.

Shaun Johnson says "no thanks". Do we move on to Hunt?

This will generate some more negative Tigers articles. Annoys me the bias against us (yes I know we are our own worst enemy with track record). Example being the “desperation” article about wanting to sign Johnson for 2 years at $650K/season but it’s a “perfect fit” for Bulldogs to sign Hunt for probably $1.2M-ish a season. Similar age and Johnson definitely a lot better than half as good as Hunt. Just so biased in the anti Tigers articles.

If SJ and Pearce said no with no other options on the table, Hunt is no chance. No half wants to go near the place.

We really are in deep trouble finding a half for next year, which I think is why the club have opened negotiations with Brooks.

It's ridiculous. The headline is "Shaun Johnson’s brutal signing snub for Wests Tigers"

and the article reads:-

Shaun Johnson won’t be at the Wests Tigers after telling the club he would not join them next year.
The off-contract Warriors star is yet to make a final decision on his playing future but he has told the Tigers he was not willing to relocate to with his young family to Australia again. It is understood he informed the Tigers of the news on Friday.
Johnson is yet to agree to any deal with the Warriors. Instead he wanted to provide the Tigers some clarity after they put to him a two year deal worth about $650,000 a year. Johnson met with incoming coach Benji Marshall last week when the Warriors were in Sydney ahead of their clash against Canterbury
He has spent the past few days contemplating the decision with the Warriors having the bye this week.
There Warriors will make room for Johnson if he elects to play on at the end of the season. As it stands though the parties do not have a deal locked in. It is also unclear if Johnson wants to continue his decorated career.
