o.k i have bad news, i believe that the prop we have signed is MUSGROVE from souths, yet another plodder, i just dont get it. this is not confirmed but i think it is him.
 
Brooks - Moses = grubby, public negotiations. Dont play Moses game- give Brooks an offer and ask for reply on Roosters offer (verified on paper- dont trust the grub one bit) and thats it. WT need to make sure we have a plan B in place. We cant be blackmailed by Moses. Fair and reasonable offer to Brooks or he can go elsewhere, thats it.

I think it’s our fault, we are never willing to upgrade players ahead of time, if they show great promise we sit on them until they hit multiple radars. If we had some foresight we could manage our cap better by locking them up earlier.
Until now it’s been up to Ivan to assess their value. I’m sure Maguire knows you need to up the ante if you really want to attract or retain….. now Extend Garner before he realises the roads in Eastern Sydney have no pot holes.

I dont think its hysteria I think its a philosophical reaction based on recent attempts to retain our better players.
Brooks has had a good year, and he is at a club that has been starved of success on a pretty ordinary wage compared to half backs in other FG teams - if the Roosters come knocking it will be very difficult to retain him. No hysteria just probability. No point pretending otherwise.

Err, our now former head coach was our head coach until a few weeks ago. Where there is smoke there is fire. Plus Brooks lives with Teddy who would be fuelling him every minute on how good the Roosters are, the TPAs and other benefits they get.

Me, I expect him to go and we will resign the great Jack Littlejohn.

I believe Teddy moved to the eastern suburbs mid season, seemed proud of himself when revealing his residential status change during an interview.

You are assuming the club hasn't attempted to tie him up earlier. Do you know this for a fact? Or are you just assuming that those in charge have no idea how to run a football club? It may well be that his greedy grubby manager has told to him to 'test his worth' on the open market.

Maybe his pretty ordinary wage was due to the fact that up until this year he’d been a pretty ordinary halfback. I’d actually say he was getting overs every year up until this year when he was on a pretty fair contract.

Having said that he’s now earned an upgrade. Let’s hope he repays the faith.
 
I believe the smiling assassin made us focus too much on luring his son, I don’t blame Brooks for looking around - everyone needs to feel loved. I don’t recall the board publicly endorsing Brooks over Nathan Cleary as the facade unfolded.

Wasnt suggesting he was worth more but Ben Hunt is probably not worth 1,2mill either - just comparing to what other halves are on, and that it will be a factor with this negotiation.
 
Just wondering what people think Brooks is worth to the club.
Could be wrong but think he has been on around 500 thousand the last few years.

From memory he signed for 550k in his last contract.

I think 700-800k would be fair.

He's tied to Souths until the end of 2020 so it's highly unlikely unless he's being released. He's also had some run-ins with the law.

Imo he is only worth about 700k.

He has no Origin experience. He has no finals experience. Basically he hasnt performed under pressure at the top level.

Until he does he doesnt warrant that kind of money and id be happy for the club to draw a line around that mark and let him go if he wants more.
