I'd sign Brooks for 4 years for 800-900k

Arthur Summons, David Bolton both international’s. That’s just two.

Imo he is only worth about 700k.

He has no Origin experience. He has no finals experience. Basically he hasnt performed under pressure at the top level.

Until he does he doesnt warrant that kind of money and id be happy for the club to draw a line around that mark and let him go if he wants more.

Agree. Probably worth 750k to 800k. No more at this stage.

In your 80 years or so of supporting Balmain/ Wests/Wests Tigers have we ever had a great, and I emphasise great 1/2 back? Tommy R and G Freeman were good…... tough as nails, but Brooks has the ability to top them both by a long stretch. I think your figure is a starting figure, that needs to be increased substantially by year 3\. He could very well be NSW 7 in 2020 and beyond given his age and predicted improvement.

Keith Holman says hi

So does Arthur Summons & David Bolton.

Musgrove makes sense with Madge’s appointment. He debuted under Madge, so Madge probably rates him. Before the hysterics, stop and think for a second. Would he be coming to be a starting prop? He’d be at best a bench prop, and we could do with another one of those with Grant gone and Sue gone. He won’t break the bank. You have rocks in your head if you think we could sign better players at this time of year. Plus, how many players who looked like depth signings at first turned out to be diamonds? Taupau, Austin, Thompson etc. Give them a chance. There’ll be plenty of time to stick the boot in later.

We are a good club for any props who want a crack at making it in FG. Our current starting props were less than impressive last season.

He still has two years to run on his contract, but I don’t think he played any fg this year. Souths probably wouldn’t stand in his way if he gets an opportunity somewhere else.

Cannot understand the hysteria regarding an article in the Telegraph!! Brooks was put on a fair contract at a time when we were trying to resign Woods and Tedesco. He was told to improve, which I think he has done.

If there was a danger of him leaving, I doubt he would be on the website modelling the new jersey!! I would like to think the club has learnt from these types of mistakes the last few years.

Couldn't care less if he leaves.

i mean, it would be a bit of a loss but we do have to be prepared for situations like this.

On the bright side of things, it would open up new doors for great players like townsed and johnson to come in

If it is Musgrove who is the mystery player, why would we be waiting til Madge gets back before announcing him as was mentioned earlier in the thread. He's hardly a big name signing TBH i know little about him, he could be good could be another plodder.

John Sutton?
Not that I think he’d add much, but there’s a link with Maguire & he remains unsigned.

If you guys think we'll do any better with a guy like Shaun Johnson running our team you're dreaming. He's a player who is frequently cited as having potentially the highest ceiling in the game for a half and he's 28 with one final series to his name. He's never realising that potential.

Brooks needs to stay or we are toast. Like most on here were advocating during the year, we should've re-signed him when we could. If the Roosters come knocking we'll end up paying 1 mil for him, and that's even if he stays at all

Of course, can't blame the club for this, I'm sure they've tried to lock him up and he wanted to test his worth. But I just don't know how we'll be able to recover if we lose him…

Was injured for part of last year so that slowed his progress.
But he is a large unit a very good back up player and obviously (if this is right) Madge rates him from his time with the rabbits.

The Pom reported earlier Brooks will resign a 3 year deal to stay….that is enough for me.....relax...it’s just a timing thing for it to be announced

Also had a minor prob in the courts this year but not in the Packer ball park of misdemeanours
