Alright, approaching season's end. How did the rumours stack up? I'll go first:
My first, before the start of the season, was that if it wasn't for the Warriors, Brisbane were certainties for the spoon and Siebold would be the first coach sacked.
My next was Asu, Simpkins and Burton were close to a deal. Asu started with WT a month later, I'm still confident with the other two.

I didn’t realise Simpkins was off contract

wrong simpkins

Got any mail on H Grant or JAC @tigerballs

Harry is available it seems, which means Cam Smith is playing next season. Whether he stays at WT is anyone's guess. No idea about JC but my Souths contact is fairly certain he isn't going there.

If true we are about to see just how much Harry Grant is worth - and to who.

If he goes on the open market i can't see us being in the running. It would be just as pointless having 3 top hookers as it is having the number of halves we have.

Harry would be able to get a lot more money at other clubs compared to WT if he doesn’t stay at Melbourne. Wouldn’t surprise me if he went to titans

Titans wouldn't have the cap - more likely Brisbane. Canterbury would have the money but i don't think he would go there.

How about Luke Metcalf from Manly he was a sensation in the 9's pace to burn excellent ball skills.
Can play half or fullback.

So how legit do we believe this article is with having staggs and JAC in the lineup?
(yes this is my first comment)

Considering it is titled Wests Tigers Dream lineup, not very likely. Its like the dream if I won lotto.

Its a pretty poor dream lineup - considering you can just put in anyone you want i'm sure most on here would come up with a better dream team.

A dream line up implies no cap. Just read out the Roosters GF line up in a few weeks time ??‍♂️

We really need to be careful with our signings next season. It is a really poor talent pool of off contract players for 2021. I would hate for us to rush out and buy what ever is left for the sake of minimal improvement.

We would be better holding off until November 1st and targeting the off contract for 2022. Much stronger talent available and may put pressure on their current clubs to release them early for 2021.

Being in a rush to sign someone or anyone is short sighted and is what has left us in the current state. Reynolds, matulino and packer were about the best options at the time and we panicked bought them.

Looking at the Titans, they appear to be learning after years of grabbing what ever was available at the time (Cartwright, peachy etc) and are focusing on long term quality. The jury is still out on fifita, but the signing of Tino is looking like a master stoke and bargain more and more every week.

That is my take on it too, the media are saying the Titans should sign this player or that player, but they have Taylor on a million, and Fifita on $1.125 million

They’ve still got money. They’ve signed some big names but they’ve also released quite a few guys who were on big money, Cartwright being the latest. Just like us they’ve got a heap of duds on huge money and they’re slowly getting rid of them

Cartwright was quoted by several different media organisations as being on $450K

I wonder if the club are looking into some of these guys that have a bad name at the moment in the media. Looks to be a lot of value around if they can pick the right players.

Cartwright for example has been probably the worst player in the NRL at the Titans, but when he first came into first grade at Penrith he was amazing. 1 year contract on minimum wage could work, might fail but we won't lose much.

Tristan Sailor is another, possibly too small and if Dragons aren't re-signing him it's not a good sign for his future. Maybe he comes on minimum wage as well and becomes a surprise packet.

Michael Oldfield is another one, no star but might be decent back up if we have AJ on the left wing next year and he gets the dropsies again.

None of these are superstars but we badly need to get value out of cheap players and if we do sign JAC there will likely be not much cash left for the remaining 2-3 squad spots.

Strongly imagine it would involve moving on liddle or simpkin. Wouldn't have all 3. That been said Simpkin is probably not on alot

Let’s not forget Simpkin is just a teenager and will be next year too. Not uncommon for a young guy to play third string for a year.

Would take Sailor. Only being let go of because dragons have millions tied up in their halves already. Oldfield is a solid player but has been struggling with injury lately

They signed Tino from the storm and Ese Ese not bottom dollar players either, Brimson got an upgrade, re-signed Proctor, Sami, Jolliffe, Don and signed Thompson, plus Wallace is on big dollars as well

Losing Cartwright, Boyd, Arrow, James, Peats who are all on big money plus a couple other cheaper guys are on the way out. I don’t think they’ve got millions sitting around but they’ll have enough to offer Smith/Grant a decent contract for next season which will get bigger in 2022.

We would lose a valuable spot in our roster and we cant afford to do that while we are carrying Packer Reynolds and MBye even on minimum wage which i doubt he would accept

Cartwright might be ok on, say, a 1 year deal at a low price with an option in the club's favour for an extended term and an upgrade if he performs well enough. He's still fairly young, can play several positions and might be a valuable backup. I can recall his early form at Penrith being very good. There's also the fact of him now having arrived at the last chance saloon so he'll almost certainly be giving it his best shot. Bit of a gamble but maybe one worth taking at the right price.

Also if released part of his salary obligations will still be on the cap.
