Why are people talking about singing a halve i thought we had 6/7 who could play in that position hence why we are letting Benji go.
So as far as I am concerned that’s one of the last positions we need to fill,after all it’s about balancing our squad isn’t it

We have many 6/7 that can play in that position - how many of them are worth a bean.

It's like using public transport instead of buying a Ferrari. Think I'll take the Ferrari myself.

However if we are not in there on November 1 - forget it.

Burton - play him at 6 or potentially 1 if we needed it.
Schuster - he will be a gun five eight ball playing lock

About as good as any other rookie half, not very good ?

Then Reynolds/Walters are better, at least they can tackle. We need players who can tackle.

Until we stop leaking 30 points a game, we’ll never go anywhere.

He is better than Reynolds and Walters.
Walters will miss a chunk of the season recovering from his ACL at best he is a reserve anyway.

That’s a ridiculous statement. He’s played 3 games off the interchange bench at an ordinary team and missed about half the tackles he’s attempted.

There is potential sure, but he ain’t better than what we have.

So many fans seem to only look at the attack.

How is it ridiculous so many fans have blinkers on.

I analyze players on and off the ball, for defense & attack structures outside of the play efforts - always have.

Walters misses and falls off a heap of tackles its why he didn’t last at hooker. Because he couldn’t hold his man. The only thing he offers was spark in attack

Reynolds hits players high as part of his aggressive defense style and gets brushed off with ease, he also rushes up and gets beat every game. Again everyone talks about his energy but that also is in attack.

Sailor hits around the waste, he does arm grab but most kids do these days. His attack is better than the other 1.

Defense is at a similar level for all 3. Sailor age, lack of experience, body growth and skill level is however better value. His defense in juniors was fine. He needs time to adapt to the nrl.

I’m comparing apples with apples, thats not ridiculous because Reynolds, Walters and Sailor are all reggie players. Sailor is already a more value add offering than the other 2.

No to Sailor from me. Prefer Burton, Clifford or Drinkwater.

Drinkwater is a strange one, he kinda plays like Benji has been this year. He’ll throw a brilliant pass to set up a try, then 5 minutes later will just boot the ball out on the full. Very hot and cold sometimes. Would prefer the other two you mentioned over him

That's why I have him third.

Tigers will have to be careful. Their formal reason for not keeping Benji is because they have too many halves, if they sign another one for next season it’ll be another media blowup.

Hopefully come November 1st we are already talking to players about joining us for 2022, we’ve got the money there’s plenty of talent available let’s do it ASAP

Hopefully we can offload Reynolds at the end of this year, then we can sign a good young half in place of him and not Benji, because if we go into next season with the halves we have at the moment, then we’ve got nothing!

I don't see how we can possibly off load him. The best we can do is pick him if he is the best option. The problem is if he is being picked we are probably finishing well done the ladder.

Russ,I think that with Benji gone and JREY still with us next year maybe Madge has identified that Brooks plays better and is more comfortable with JR in the halves with him...
They both combined have a better win rate than LB and Benji this year..
Its just a thought because maybe JR could be a good player for us next year with more responsibility now Benji wont be there and Madges coaching could make the pair a good halves combination..I know there are many on here that dont like JR as a player but maybe next year could be a good year for him and us...who really knows what Madge has up his sleeve..

I reckon Mbye and Brooks are out best halves options with Madden, Walters and Reynolds as their back-ups. We really need to sign some quality halves and a fullback.

I think that Madge played Marshall because of his attacking style and being a 6/7 could change the attack we had...Dont forget that Madge dropped Benji for his defense deficiencies and he put JR in which were some of the games we did win when Benji was on the bench..

I dont know what Madge has in his plans for next year and JR could be on the bench or out of the squad...I just dont think Madge wants to keep chopping and changing the combinations to much eg Mbye centre,fullback.or 5/8...I think Madge is looking for a stable competant halves combination next year ,who that will be anybody knows..

That's pretty obvious as a member here who is close to his family constantly parrots that the players don't like him. Can easily interpret that as Reynolds and Madge not seeing eye to eye.

I think Madge has gotten it right as well. Reynolds is just a poor player. Maybe his enthusiasm worked well at some point and the lack of skill was less of a problem but that isn't the case any more.

Burton, Clifford and Drinkwater are all off contract at the end of 2021 - we have to start thinking of a solution by November 1 or they will all be gone. There will be others off contract at that time as well Flanagan, Williams, Dearden, Johnson, Fogarty etc.

However if we are not in there on November 1 - forget it.

Fogarty is a very good half and goal kicker.

Soon as it hits midnight November 1st we gotta start ringing players. The sooner the better

We can talk to them now. The rule is we have to wait until November 1 to formally offer them a contract.

If done properly, we could be talking to them and convincing them to come now, and the deal could be shown to them and signed on Nov 1.

Why are people talking about singing a halve i thought we had 6/7 who could play in that position hence why we are letting Benji go.
So as far as I am concerned that’s one of the last positions we need to fill,after all it’s about balancing our squad isn’t it

We have many 6/7 that can play in that position - how many of them are worth a bean.

Nothing wrong with public transport Russell it’s a lot cheaper and quite reliable,besides it keeps me employed.Remember it’s all about the balance of the squad so we don’t need another halve got any number can play there
