The cupboard is looking extremely bare for 2021.

Apart from Tamou, all we've signed rookies that other clubs obviously didn't see as priorities.

Unless there are a few decent signings on the way, we're going to be battling for the spoon.

Well i think the policy is that if players are not worth signing from other clubs apart from JAC that's been tabled there is not much room within our cap to go on a spending spree like the bulldogs have done.

I have nil expectations making the 8 next year and do think we will finish somewhere where we did the this year.

The following year we will have some room and a new Centre of Excellence with facilities to attract some talent.

Suppose we just have to be patient until the following year.

Waiting for a centre of excellence to save us could be like waiting for Godot.

All the other clubs are buidding coes. Some even have a massive head start on us in running a successful coe (e.g Penrith).

Bottom line is that, as it stands, we're going into 2021 with our weakest roster for many years.

I don’t think our roster is that bad to be honest

That’s not the worst forward pack we’ve had in the last 4 or 5 years In fact it’s probably the best we’ve had for a long time.

It’s in the backs were we will win or lose games, where some of these guys are picked and how much positional changing takes place.

Everyone sees things from different angles, I reckon our roster is not too bad and if we learn how to edge our those games we shouldn’t lose we just might make the 8

We just need to have a go

I take your point, just think that the teams underneath us have made improvements to their roster.like this year, a few injuries and we get found out.

We are a team that needs everyone playing at their absolute best every week to be competitive. We have certainly lacked consistency doing this.roster needs a massive overhaul.

Leeton's Harry Rudd to trial with the Wests Tigers

Who’s that

I wonder if he is related to Jody Rudd, ex Norths, Illawarra and Balmain centre or winger originally from Leeton. Harry is a 7.
Wasn’t Jody Rudd the guy who broke his leg at LO where his foot ended up turning 90 degrees and they kept showing it on the big screen. It was sickening to watch

I can't remember. The incident I do remember was a young second row forward named Bruce Parnell. He suffered a terrible break and never played again. He came trough at the same time Sironen. He was a very good runner of the ball.

Wish I cld share the optimism, but the way I see it is weve lost our best player(Harry)and our best playmaker(Benji)nd have picked up a couple of prop forwards who were surplus to requirements at Penrith and Eels.Nothing or nobody else
Cant see how were a better team in 2021,and with Titans /Warriors /Dragons/Broncos/Dogs all improving with player and /or coach changes ,were a real chance at the spoon unless Madge gets em firing...

At least we seem to have a GK in AD now, so that will certainly help as well.

Yep, I agree.
I’d rather wait it out one more year, cut the deadwood and have a barrel of money and sign 3 Quality long term players.
Players with both youth and experience like JAC, Tapine etc etc.
I’d rather stick with what we have than sign someone for the hell of it.

Fix the defence we we will make top 8 it’s that simple. We can score points, when we get on the front foot we can roll any team in the competition problem is we keep letting teams get huge leads on us. Defend well, learn to build pressure and we’re fine, sure the roster could be better but they’ve shown they can compete with top teams they just don’t do it enough

That's the key - defensive structure needs some subtle tweaks and the players really need to develop some consistent line speed. All too often we waited for the opposition to hit the line and by then it's too late, the middle collapses and we get rolled. Simply need to copy the likes of Penrith, Storm, Chooks...they do it well.

Gotta say I disagree . When benji went off injured in the last game , for me we got a good look at what the attack will look like , which is actually better . It doesn’t have the razzmatazz, but does have strong play , and a clear game plan , especially if AD is at 6.
I also think the jack in the box play of grant , can be replaced , and liddles pass and deception around the ruck is way better than grants .
I thought grant dropped off , towards the end of the year , and whilst I think he will be a star , I don’t think his actual play at the back end was even as good as his start to the year .

We also lost our worst defensive player in Benji
So our defence should hold better you would hope

The benji addition by subtraction, IMO , cannot be underestimated.
The defence is obvious , but seriously so many times this year we had something setup for him to over call. And I honestly think grant got a bit star struck by him at times , He went to him so much more often , even when it wasn’t on. Liddle seemed to look for Brooks first , benji second , which IMO , it was one of the reasons we were far more direct when he was on the field . As is known , Brooks looks to run first , but it’s direct and at the middles . Benji would skirt across field, and at times collapse the space for his centres , which is why at times it seemed BJ was doing nothing .

Don’t shoot me , Benji lovers , he’s still our greatest player , I just am calling it how I see it .
