James Roberts rumour has substance to it. Not just paper talk.

What rumour? Are we linked? Doesn't seem like our type of back, too fast and elusive. Slow and steady here at WTs.

Enquires have been made with the NRL I believe. Post that meeting referred to in the SMH.

Not enough realism on here. If we choose to let Aloiai go if he’s offered 650k elsewhere, how do we replace him?

It took 800k to get someone like Packer to come here, how much do you think it will cost to get someone of Aloiai’s quality from another team?

If we’re ever going to have a competitive squad we need to hang onto the few good players we have (Nofa, Aloiai etc).

**670k i**s the figure, wish people would stop increasing the figure.

By the times his contract runs out he'll be touted as 950k.

How do you know this?

From ZeroTackle.com:
"Packer is believed to be earning well over $700,000 a season"

Look I'm not going back 2 - 3 years to find it - it was well reported on here at the time
and many on here know that the figure is 670k not 800k.

If you wish to believe zero tackle - go ahead. just pointing out the real figure.

Don't we have enough centres? We have a roster full of centres and halves. Need second rowers, wingers, and a fullback.

I think I'd rather Mansour than Roberts. (Don't want Mansour either)

I’d rather sign no one than Roberts and Mansour ? use the money to sign more rookies or upgrade the guys who did well for us last season

Second row and fullback is priority. Even on the wing we’re okay for now

If Mansour comes, Maguire has a lot of explaining to do following the debacle of the Leilua signing.

I don’t think Mansour will be good for us but I won’t judge it until he’s actually played. He would be cheap and most likely a short deal, worst part of it is that he would block the development of Kepaoa

Don't see him being cheap. Wasn't cheap at the Riff.

Would expect it to be around $350k. Penrith will throw in for him. Maybe $400k

Can not carry BJ and Roberts in the same team. Please no

We're becoming like the Cleveland Indians in the movie Major League (but without the fairytale ending i'd imagine)

I’d AVOID Mansour..unless Laurie is released as a packaged deal...otherwise, no thank you.

Signing Mansour would greatly decrease the chance of Laurie being released. They wouldn’t be so tight in salary cap

Then no thank you stands.

Mansour i don't mind as long as it is cheap and not over 2 years.
Whilst with roberts if he is also cheap i'd be happy, yes he carries baggage but if Madge can get him firing again, there is our SPEED...

Cheap and incentive based with options in our favour

Sign it or rack off

Seriously mansour and Roberts? that's the plan B? wow, just wow.

Roberts was looking to get out of Sydney and many better man managers than we have failed to get his issues under control.

Mansour is not good enough to have us put a kid into the Reggies - doesn't matter what the cost

Mansour for experience
Roberts for speed but only if he can pull his head in (which i doubt) if Bennett can't help him no one can

I would rather we go hard for Burton and Saab
Keep on getting the best young players available
Maybe an English back with raw pace

no to Mansour. he's on $700k and blocks AJ's pathway. better off going after Regan Grace or Edene Gebbie and get some value for money.

would only take Roberts on minimal dollars and he can trigger some clauses with KPIs as some have said earlier. we have more centres than you can poke a stick at, and if M'Bye isn't at the back next year I'm not entirely sure where he fits.

Mansour on the cheap for a year or two would be fine. He and Tamou would certainly be a great example for our younger blokes and will help to set standards. I doubt Mansour would be starting every week, rather creating competition for spots and if that was so, good. It won't block players at all, just make them earn their position.

Roberts on the other hand is a big, fat no. If Wayne can't reach him then no one can.

Agree with the majority of comments on here. Signing either of Mansour or Roberts would be a mistake. Why invest in youth, and then blow it by putting old timers in front of them who are well past their prime?

Will be very disappointed in our recruitment if we sign these two, or either of them. We missed out on JAC, bad luck, really hope we don't do this which would be a bad mistake.

Prefer neither, but Mansour over Roberts.

Wouldn't take Roberts for a bet, wouldn't take him if he paid us the 550k that he was on supposedly.

Are we going for the Trifecta? - knocked back by 3 indigenous players.

And again this club actually has me at a loss for words. In a day we’ve gone from waiting on the decision from
The best winger in the game to being on the verge of signing a 30 year winger who’s a carbon copy of a player we already have but slower and talking to James Roberts who again I can’t even muster the words for it. This club is desperate for strengthening in key areas and all we are doing is signing outside backs that no one else wants who are then blocking the pathway into the team for the younger players. Why would someone like Talau want to stay now. Gets more and more shambolic by the day seriously

Same every year, we are the first and last contract club. Club has totally lost me if they sign Mansour and or Roberts. I guess they are trying to buy some time to the kids develop but IMO they will just add to the older duds we keep signing

Mansour and Tamou could be the key to getting a hold of some of the good Penrith players, Crighton, Burton etc. They are both well respected in the playing group, and their word would hold plenty of sway, there might be a method to the madness if true

With the current situation that the WT are in i would never have thought that the Tigers would even consider signing these players.
Josh Mansour - age, 30 ???
James Roberts - 27 + mental health ????

Dear WTrlf,
Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. And
A little bit of something is better than a lot of nothing.

These talked about signings surely seem a lot of NOTHING.
