Looked at WT contracts.12 players not signed for 2022.I can only see 4 at most being updated. WT will be a very different side after next year.If you think we have had arguments , baggings galore, and a volatile forum over a few signings and departures, this is only a shower compared to cyclone to hit at the end of 2021.

I'm becoming excited by the anticipation @sleeve .

Well you need to build a squad that buys in.
I can already see the following struggling in 2021 to retain a contract for 2022.
Chee-Kam, Mikeale, Packer, Reynolds, Walters. (5)
Musgrove i think will be retained if plays enough football looks lean and fit in photos, Liddle as well ???
Rest are mainly development players that may not even get a run till later in the season with injuries.

Was it the POM who said Musgrove was being negotiated now.
Michale I hope shows he’s back to his best
And I am hopeful that Packer is over his injuries and will show enough for a one year extension with a revised contract, not a lot of FR about atm

I dont know how you can even suggest giving Packer an extension. He has been poor since he came to us.Matulino was always better and was playing on one leg

I suggested it, because of the reasons I stated, injury free he was a dynamite player, don’t know if he will get to those heights but if he does, well not many good FR’s around, just not at his current contract price.

no to packer for me

Not a chance, he's bludged to much money from us already. An extension is a ridiculous idea.

Lots of talk about another 2RW, my suggestion would be Hudson Young from Canberra.
Very aggressive physical style, would fit Madge's blueprint and off contract next year and wouldn't cost as much as Crichton would.
There's a few backrowers at the raiders trying to fit into 3-4 spots so might get squeezed out.
The only issue is that he would need to apologize to Farah for trying to pop his eye out a couple years back.

he'd be brilliant but I really don't see him leaving Canberra.

What makes you think that? Can't say I know anything about him aside from his footy. Is he a Canberra native?

Is he the redhead who had a cry on the field? I like his passion, cant say Ive ever really noticed his play though.

Hudson young is a good player, but it all depends on how Blore goes. If Blore performs we just need a bench second rower and I think Young will be starting for Canberra next season.

If Blore doesn’t find his feet in first grade straight away, or isn’t able to play big minutes then Young is a good option. Both Blore and Young are capable of playing on an edge or in the middle, very similar type of player I think. Definitely a good suggestion 👍🏻

Nah thats Corey Horsburgh, he's not bad either, was in line for a QLD call up before he did his ankle. I think Young would still be a better fit.

The young second row forward we recruited from the Sharks, Kitone Kautoga, looks to be a strong runner. He seems to figure readily in try scoring at SG Ball.

Good call, I think Blore will be as good for us this year as Eli Katoa was for the Warriors last year. I find that big edge forwards are often successful in their first year of FG, it's the 2nd year where the good players are separated from the great (e.g. are you a Kikau or a Cohen Hess?).

I’m so keen to watch our juniors this season. Hopefully the club keeps us updated on how all the squads go especially Jersey Flegg.

Would be so good if he could have a breakout season and become a star for us. We really need our young guys doing that over the next few years because we struggle to sign stars from elsewhere. Keen to see how he goes.

For me the priorities would be Harry Grant, Angus Crichton, JAC in that order

2021 would be a bonus for any of these but not impossible, these things move in mysterious ways and I feel we are still holding a fair chunk of spare cap, up to $900k (assumes Seyfarth signed) and we have some flexibility on Garner and Liddle who are likely on around $300k each

Dare to dream but that would make one a definite possibility for 2021 if they became available but harder to see how you do two of them
Two base replacements would leave $1.25-1.3m for AC & say HG, might not be impossible on a multi year deal

Question for the forum relating to us perhaps being a touch light on back rowers

We have as middle forwards the following 7 players in our squad:
Tamou, Musgrove, Ofahengaue, Twal, Mikaele, Uto, Packer

Do any of these have any backrower flexibility?
Could any?

Aloiai did but just hoping there may be one amongst these lot

I cant see any of them playing back row.

It will be Blore and LL Cool J.

Out of that bunch .. both Twal and Ofahengaue have played at number 13, not sure if you'd call that .. "backrower flexibility".

From memory, Ofahengaue played 13 for the Donkeys a few times and showed an ability to adapt to a more mobile player / position than i thought he would have.
