I’m ruthless.... sign Smith now and let Liddle and Simpkin battle it out for a 2022 contract as well. Smith is an upgrade and if we have the opportunity to upgrade our team we have to take it.

Yeah tough one, he would improve team straight away but I think he's almost at his ceiling talent wise (which is still high). I'm a big fan of the cheese, but he's another swiss army knife that doesn't know his best position. The kid is a perfect modern 13, but is willing to shift clubs to play 9, bit of a red flag for me.

Well play him at 9, if he can last the 80mins, we don't need another one on the bench.

Jiz in my pants moment if we happened to snag Da Cheese

He's not usually an 80min hooker though... he can do it but not week in week out.
Not to say that can't change, as I said, it's a tough one.

Fanny Weedler reporting Widdop set to approach the Tigers.

Is that unusual? Its normally the other way around, he must be desperate to land a gig.

Think Brandon Smith would be great for morale and building a positive, tight knit group culture that still thrives in a disciplinarian manner.

However, I would definitely want to give Liddle and even more so Simpkin every chance to excel with us first. Not sure if hooker if our biggest problem (probably halfback and second row) but Brandon is quality on and off the field and seems like the kind of person that people want to play with

I’m tipping Brooksy will shine behind a better forward pack, still would love to see an aggressive second rower next to him, bit like Beau Scott was to Soward.

I loved the way Beau Scott went about his business.

I’d say we should sit tight with money, maybe get Nofo across the line before we go any further.
We are in good position for once in a blue moon.
Some of you guys are like the bloke in pokie room who’s been losing all week finally gets a win and then puts it all back in.

Yeah, its hard behind the other Smith, he just cruises.

Though didn't Harry do it for us for a few games?

Let it ring through to the answering machine who's message hopefully states "If your name isn't Gareth please leave a message after the beep"...

Spot on, with a 1 year option in our favour, just in case he kills it:grin:

Channel 9 putting 2 +2 together and coming up with Gareth Widdop to WTs

I think if the deal is OK (and I'm sure it will be) then he could be a good asset for us?

Doueihi is our 5/8.

But he isn't here for R1, if somebody, anybody kills it in the position in R11, I doubt they will be replaced next game, just because AD is back.

I like AD, he is pretty handy, they will find him a spot?

Widdop was very good years ago. We have other options for one game.

Not suggesting it would be Widdop, but think he may be handy if he came at the right deal.

WE have 3 spots to fill, got fill em with somebody?

Kei and Gebbie and possibly Tauilagi.

I've said it before, I really admire your push for youth and I do agree, but, we need blokes with the toughness, experience and brains to get us up above the magical line we have strove for, for the last the 10 years.
The kids wont be forgotten.
This is the NRL, the toughest game in the world.

You'll find Gebbie is tougher than most. Kei has impressive genetics and no shortage of toughness.

Just read the Storms statement..B Smith has just been given permission to explore options with other Clubs from 2022...I thought someone said he'd been released

Carry on

You are wearing me out Paws, they probably do, but being hit by a FG FR would not be pleasant and they don't have the brains or experience.

Tbh I wouldn’t be against that. Low risk, can cover 6 and 1. Goal kicker. We need an experienced back up and he’s an experienced backup (pending a pretty thorough physical)

You most be joking for Widdop. He's long finished at NRL level.
