I agree that he’s not as quick as he used to be but his defensive tackle efficiency is at 81%, Nofa by comparison is 69%. The average for first grade wingers in the NRL is 74%.
The Sauce would bring us some stability and crafty options on our left edge attack, so I’m all for it if he signs.
Mansour is basically Nofa.....with much better D.
I would take him any day over Nofa for 100-200 less.

If mansour is blocking your path to first grade then you're not ready for first grade.
Madge has shown he doesn't care about reputations.
Exactly right. Tigers have for a long time had insufficient depth to put pressure on the incumbents. Madge and Co have made a point of recruiting depth across the roster, so there is both competition and backup for injury.
Madge has shown willingness to drop any player any reputation.
So I don't understand, if someone thinks Mansour is "no good", why he would be an obstacle for "good" juniors. You might even ask if Mansour is reasonable value to both add experience and competition to the roster. And it's this value proposition question that has caused the drawn-out process of determining Mansour's future.
What I do know for a fact is that the club rates Daine Laurie very highly and were very pleased that he agreed to sign on. The question of an early trade including Mansour has been on the table for quite some time.
Why not give Madge a late Christmas gift and let him start working with Laurie now, rather than have the kid bouncing around reserve grade for another year. The Harry Grant trade showed that it's in the contract club's best interests to let an up-and-coming player play grade as soon as they are ready rather than keep kicking around behind prominent incumbents.
At worst we gain Mansour, who is decent without being a bad footballer. And maybe even then it puts pressure on Nofo to sign for a decent amount, or good luck to him if he chooses to leave.
More to do with the fact we’ve already got one young guy missing out most likely, now we will have two with Mansour getting first crack at wing. Could create a situation where we lose a young guy - then Mansour is retiring a year later, and Mansour isn’t good enough a player to warrant that. If Laurie comes too I can deal with it
Who said Mansour gets 1st shot at wing
Wouldn't it depend on training and trials
He’s not coming to play reserve grade otherwise he’d stay at Penrith

We’ve got a heap of centre and more coming through juniors. We’d be fine if we let him go.
I reckon Momo is a more reliable centre than BJ and JTJ and is far less likely to cost us games than either of the others
Momo not in the same class as either of them
Do not underestimate the Momo. He is the quiet achiever. Not flashy, but a bloody good footballer. There's a reason Melbourne wanted him for Harry Grant, and there's a reason the Dogs want him.
All Melbourne wanted from that swap was the opportunity to give Grant a years experience in first grade. It had nothing to do with momirovski

The Mole: Wests Tigers target Cameron McInnes for 2022By The Mole - 14 hours ago
Cameron McInnes was in tears as the Dragons gave a perfect farewell to departing coach Paul McGregor.
RIVAL CLUB TARGETING McINNES
Wests Tigers are set to make Dragons skipper Cameron McInnes as their number one target for 2022.
McInnes met with Tigers coach Michael Maguire at a Maroubra cafe last week - and it's a safe bet they weren't talking about Christmas presents.
The pair have a long association - McInnes was selected for his NRL debut under Maguire at Souths in 2014.
The tough-talking coach knows only too well the all-round value of McInnes, who starred for the Dragons despite another disappointing campaign for the club in 2020.

NRL 2020: Round 1McDonald Jones StadiumFriday March 12th, 7:00 am
McInnes comes off contract at the end of next season and while the Dragons are keen to retain him, he is set to test his value in the open market.
With star youngster Harry Grant moving back to Melbourne, the Tigers will start next season with two young hookers in Jacob Liddle and Jake Simpkin.
Maguire wants more experience in the key dummy-half role and McInnes would be an ideal player to lead the talented young Tigers team in years to come.

The reason why is to get a #1 in the fullback in the trade, but also for multiple people to fight out for spots on the wing.
For me, I’d love to see a few games of Tamou doing the first hit up, Nofa second hit up, Mansour third hit up, Fourth Liddle quick dummy half scoop, passing to Lucy Leilua to Roberts to score..
But not only that, seeing dirty hit ups from sauce and Nofa is the big one id like to see, getting us out of trouble when we’re close to the try line under pressure trying to get out.

That's still my point. If Mansour plays 2 years for Tigers, any kid who misses out is not as good a footballer as Mansour, in the opinion of the coach. If they are good enough, they'll force Mansour out of the side.
I raise a very big question mark over the long-term future of a young winger who isn't better than Josh Mansour by the end of season 2022. And if they are really young, then the existence of Josh Mansour is complementary rather than a hinderance, because they'll get their chance soon enough.
And if Mansour is good enough over two years to keep a very promising junior out of the top grades, then that's a win-win situation surely.
How do we know if they’re gonna be good in first grade if they’re not playing first grade? Mansour will be solid enough to keep his spot and unless they’re absolutely smashing it in reserve grade they probably won’t get a spot in 2021. 2022 is a different story but we might lose someone like Talau by then.

McInnes was on the extended bench for NSW this year. Would do almost anything to block Liddle’s development tbh, I don’t rate him at all and think the bloke has had enough chances. Everyone wanted grub out when he was constantly injured, that’s the sort of gist I’m getting with Jacob. Have McInnes starting at hooker with him moving to lock mid-game to pave way for Simpkin
I disagree with this completely . Liddle is a weapon . It was clear when he returned , how direct he plays as well as his manipulation around the ruck . He puts his forwards onto the ball, and his ruck deception, creates space for his halves who are close to the ruck , especially on kicking options .
And I haven’t even mentioned the thing everyone notices , his speed and ability to get out .
Grants , passing out of the ruck was bog average in my opinion . We went from one of the teams making the most metres , to one of the teams making the least in 1 season . I think that was the transition from Robbie to grant as much as the forwards shat the bed this year.
Grant is an awesome footballer , I’m not saying he’s not, but Liddle is a better dummy half than grant . Grant is a better footballer .
??? we conceded double the amount of points mid-way through the season without Grant and having Liddle in the side. I don’t care if you think he’s good, the problem is **he’ll do another ACL before the first 10 rounds**. Just watch
Thats crystal ball talk
But ? I would like to know from everyone on the Forum, especially those reluctant to sign McInnes , who do we have that is good enough to play Hooker if Liddle goes down in the 1st few weeks
Or do we just write off our season again because there is always next year
Mate I’m all for McInnes . I just don’t think Liddle is rubbish . And I don’t like it , when people death ride one of our juniors , who has been loyal to us , because they’re all googily eyed over the shiny new toy we just had .
The gap between Grant and Liddle is like the San Andreas Fault. One is a rep and future kangaroo star the other the only chance he will get fora kangaroo jumper was when he played for the Wyong kangaroos
Someone needed to say it
two very different players. Grant is more like Smith and Liddle more like Damien Cook. while Grant controlled games through the middle corridor, Liddle will give decent ball to the halves and allow them to control the game, while he picks his moments. yes Grant is the better player but Liddle will be very very good for us providing Brooks and Doueihi steer the side around the park.
I’m still taking Simpkin over Liddle. How many chances are we going to give Liddle? I reckon this is his last chance, one more injury and it’s all over for him imo. Simpkin will be knocking on the door for a starting spot. Just my two cents
Maybe Simpkin will have as many injuries as Liddle has had - once he starts playing with the big boys.
Hopefully not
I'm amazed at comments that the kids are not ready for ist gde. They have gone through the development sytem to prepare them. They are 19yrs old and most weigh around 90kg.Johnt Raper ,12and a half stone,Gasnier went from reserve gde into a test jumper at 19.Brad FIttler and heaps more. They are bigger fitter and faster then previous players. If you don't give them a chance we will lose them. Why do you think we got Laurie ?
John raper , reg gasnier and even Brad Fittler either never did , or rarely played against the monsters of today’s game . Seriously we had an under sized pack this year that most guys were well above the 100kg mark . This year , we will have a pack with guys pushing 120 . It is to this point that a kid isn’t ready . Mentioning a fullback is different to a kid who will spend his whole career in the engine room. It’s not about them being ready next year , it’s about ruining them for thier whole career .
Trainers and staff are smarter in today’s game . Many realise that if they develop an elite player and make sure he has a long career , there’s a high chance they will as well .
And just watch the smaller more mobile forwards come into the game with the further tweeking of the 6 again and re-start rules..

Totally , but the wear and tear on your body having to not just tackle those monsters but hit and stick , move and up and close down the space , is just something previous generations just didn’t have to deal with . So the training and everything around that , strength and conditioning , rest etc. moves adjusts. And it will adjust to this new thing whatever that is. I think the return to the John taper days won’t happen . I think everyone will look for the NFL running back type bodies . Guys who can move laterally really quick , run the 40 super quick and weigh 100kg plus. And with multiculturalism, those guys are out there .
