Looks like Madge is gather some young fit athletic types if not 2021 can't wait for 2022

Well it is 21 so I suppose Tigers fans think about 22. I'm sick of that joke Tigers fans talk about 2 years 2005 and next year. Really does feel like we are as fans writing off another year.
I remember marina go saying when madge was appointed that anything less than top 8 was a failure...3 years on still excuses.

So with 3 spots left to fill, one spot left open for potentially getting Laurie early, which positions would the team be targeting for the last 2 spots?

I wouldn't expect the last 2 spot to be filled until the end of July and then probably upgrading of younger players.

I think we have a fair bit of money just to upgrade a couple of young guys
We would have to have close to $1'000'000 left
Or am I way out on that $ figure

They will keep them open incase a big name player becomes available, and if no one becomes available they will upgrade some young guys at the end of July.

Interested to see who they might upgrade. Edene Gebbie probably a good shot considering he plays win and fullback, two positions we lack depth.

He is still yet to earn any type of contract for the season, I do know they were looking at him for a development contract and not an NRL contract. Maybe he gets upgraded to an NRL contract if Laurie doesn't come across.

It’s a shame he couldn’t start training with us sooner

Ithink a lot will eventually depend on Madden,i hope they give him a good chance, not just 1 game, and Simkin the same.We need variety and speed and i think these two could provide this.

I have no doubts both will be given plenty of opportunities during the season

impacted his form

Wasn't Lucy on the right with BJ to begin and cos that didn't work defensively, they switched Garner over?

Unfortunately I think that was detrimental for Luke's game. He was much better on the left next to the other Luke.

Unfortunately if switching sides affects his entire game that bad then maybe he should work on it, seems a weak excuse for me some of his defence was very ordinary and I really like Garner. Luc played both edges well, they just couldn’t afford having him next to Benji and Joey.

Maybe with Benji gone and a fitter Joey they can move him back to the right, but I’d prefer to see Blore given a shot too.

Sorry mate but that sounds like a pretty poor argument to me.
They moved Luke Garner to the right because defensively Lucy on the right side was not a real good combination with Benji and Joey.
The same could be said about Lucy needing to work on his game.
The fact that Luke Garner stayed on the right for the rest of the season suggests to me that it was thought that he was a better option there than Lucy even if it was to the detriment of his game.
I like both Luke and Lucy but I think a lot of people have been a bit too critical of Luke at times.
Agree on wanting to see Blore get a shot,

Garners attack suffered moving to the right and there’s no real excuse for it besides him just not stepping up this year, moving sides shouldn’t affect his running game that much. Defensively they thought it was better that way and I agree hence keeping thek that way. With Benji gone they can be swapped back if they feel like it.

Switching sides definitely affects your attack.most centres/backrowers have a foot they prefer steeping off and hitting a certain shoulder of the defender.
Especially players who hold the ball under their arm.
You could be right about him not stepping up,because it definitely looked like that.

No doubt players prefer playing on one side, but he didn’t adjust at all, surely after a whole season hes figured out how Benji plays and how to run off him? Benji has quality service and Garner never seemed to run the right lines for him. I think he wasn’t up to standard in that regard and once he’s back on the left he should be fine again.

Trouble with running to a hole with Benji is half the time you are likely to run into each other when he runs across as you're getting cramped for room with your centre and winger near the sideline.

If we had money for Harry and/or JAC there has to be a bit to splash, unless the figures for our signings are off the mark.

Other than the first 7 weeks in 2018 - and our pack back in 2014 or 15 - we've never had that intimidation factor which the likes of Melbourne or Roosters or even Rabbitohs have had over the years. Don't get me wrong natural leaders will emerge instinctively but the development and ability of some of our players, is mostly attributable to players who were/are beside or around them.
How could our halves have been confident in knowing one of their leading forwards can't even break 40m??
Look at the players that are currently excelling in the game. Munster, Luai, Keary and Cleary have room to move.

Hopefully the new look of our pack will give our spine the confidence to play at their best.

Pretty sure that we made pretty good metres relative to most teams in 2019 as well, but that really went go crap this past season. Whether that was as a result of the speed of our play the ball, service from dummy half, a combination of both or maybe tactics of not promoting the footy much, I am not sure, but we had to go wide often to stop being dominated and the forwards hadn't forgotten how to catch and run.

Injuries to key forwards and very little depth in the forwards were an issue

Luciano had no problem running holes off Benji scored doing it. Funnily enough brooks never gave Luc the ball in holes very often for some reason.

They needed a fullback. They’ve got lots of outside backs but most are average and will probably be let go. It’s a nice looking squad they’ve got for 2022, they need a hooker and some forwards though.
