It's pretty simple. We have no backup at fullback which Laurie provides (he can back up 6 as well). Momo is our 4th string centre. We need Laurie much more

It’s simpler to play Moma at FB. He’s done it for us before.
Why should we get caught up trying to solve the problems of other clubs?

He's absolutely hopeless at fullback. The trade benefits us far more than Penrith.

In your opinion.

don't think I'd want to see Momo head for the exits unless it's in exchange for Laurie. we have no backup 6 until Walters returns (and even he may be off to Brisbane) and he is a far better defensive option than Leilua in the centres.

Is't Madden the back up 6 ? We can also use Mbye. These are all better options then Momo,I think by round 6 Madden will be 5/8 and Douehie will be the backup.

We get Laurie anyway in 2022...we can keep Momo AND Laurie and screw Penrith around even more and not give in to their wants. Why not do that instead?

Laurie is not a player we should be moving heaven and earth for this early

If he was an established fullback and the key to winning a premiership maybe it would be different but he’s played 2 games and still largely unknown

4th string is not correct. He is a very reliable and smart footballer. Penrith would not take Leilua for the same reasons we should not be counting on him to perform commensurate with his salary. Talau and Kei ahead of him everytime.

Fair enough but Leilua and Roberts are reportedly our starting centres and i'd have Talau ahead of Momo every day of the week.

Thanks for the reminder that we actually have Laurie signed. Folks reading these posts could think we only get Laurie if we help Panthers out with their roster balance by handing over one of our best players. Laurie is already coming. He’s just coming later than we would all like.

How is a player not in the 17 one of our best players?

Would you play Talau at FB ahead of Moma?

Momirovski’s release request is the third such demand from a different Tigers players in the last 18 months after Ryan Matterson and Josh Aloiai both asked to leave.

Wouldn't be a news article without taking a shot at our club in some way or another. They just couldn't help themselves.

Momo is a good player but is currently 3rd/4th choice at centre and is probably going to be used as a 5/8th back up if injuries occur. Can't see the club releasing him without getting Laurie or a 5/8th in return - would be very poor management tactics.

If only the media can look at a team's roster and work that out for themselves.

Let’s not forget that BJ and JTJ are both extremely unreliable going on past, lots talking them up on here but they could actually be weaknesses

Talau isn't a fullback and neither is Momo. They're both unsuitable back ups for fullback. But you've highlighted the major issue with our 2021 team. We have no suitable backup for fullback. Laurie is a suitable backup and we have enough centres.

So momos asked for a early release, is that for the panthers trade? Sorry if already been discussed only just seen it and figured someone here would know something. Cheers guys

Why do we think Momo will be around in 2022? It's a player option and he's reportedly asking for multiple releases. Seems pretty likely he won't be here next year, so why not trade him for a guy that's in a position we desperately need and who will be here long term

Let's not forget that if Laurie is at fullback then Mbye can also backup at centre.

When we have a fully fit squad to choose from Momo doesn't make the 17, so if he doesn't want to be here move him on and replace him with somebody who does.

I'd rather get Laurie in if it's an option and add some genuine competition in a position that we're lacking depth in.

How are Tigers going to get Laurie if Penrith want to keep him for 2021 depth? It's exactly the same situation with West Tigers. The only chance would be a straight swap between Laurie and Momo. What are the chances of that happening?

Sounds like we are playing hardball. Momo won't go unless it benefits us in someway I think

How can we possibly benefit from losing Moma?

By getting Laurie as a swap, who will most likely start at fullback for a lot of the year.

I agree with everyone saying NOT to let momo go! Don’t give Penrith anything! We will no doubt use momo this upcoming season
Laurie will see game time this year ,Caleb Akins is gone,Edwards is injury prone and Laurie is their only other genuine fullback option.Another year with their squad will be good for him. Mbye will do for this season.
Maybe I’m just used to mediocrity😂 but momo is a very handy player to have in a squad.laurie is still untested, potential top line player but too early to say.

I think we took on JTJ knowing that we had a solid back up centre in Momo. If we lose Momo that shy at the stumps becomes a bit more than that.

**Wests Tigers turn down release request from centre Paul Momirovski**

EXCLUSIVE – The Wests Tigers and Paul Momirovski are locked in a dispute that threatens to escalate after the centre had two official release requests turned down by the club.
Foxsports.com.au can reveal that the Tigers are refusing to let Momirovski leave despite informing him he would not be a first-choice centre at Concord.
The 24-year-old, who has 14 tries in 19 NRL games, has been training at five-eighth during the pre-season and has held three conversations with head coach Michael Maguire about being granted permission to leave.
Rival clubs are monitoring the situation closely, with Canterbury and Penrith keen on his services.
The Tigers, however, are digging their heels in, arguing that a roster with strong depth across the backline can only be beneficial for the club.
Momirovski did not play for the Tigers in 2020 as he headed to Melbourne as part of a loan deal involving Harry Grant.
He was encouraged to make the move to the Storm as his temporary departure would allow the Tigers to secure an NRL-standard hooker.
A hand injury curtailed his run in the Storm’s right centre spot but despite mutual interest in extending his stay at Melbourne, he went back to Concord to honour the last year of his contract.
Upon his return, the Tigers had signed James Roberts to partner Joey Leilua in the centres.
The Tigers also made a serious play for Josh Mansour before he signed for Souths a fortnight ago.
Momirovski’s release request is the third such demand from a different Tigers players in the last 18 months after Ryan Matterson and Josh Aloiai both asked to leave.
The difference for both those players is that they were walk-up starters for the Tigers being lured away by bigger deals.
Momirovski, meanwhile, is not guaranteed regular football in 2021 and wants to play every week in his preferred position.
Matterson joined Parramatta after skipping training and being put on a period of leave while Aloiai moved to Manly after frustrations in negotiations with the Tigers.

Interesting.... Was at training today and Mommers was the only player not up and about. In fact he looked miserable.

The remainder of the squad all came and had a chat, introducing themselves to my kids, which leaves a massive impression on them.
