Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Penrith mustn’t rate Whare, Naden, Jennings, May and Capewell too much it appears.

Whare is getting on. Naden has defensive issues and is in trouble for his cocaine episodes. Jennings is ~~good~~ depth. Last two are probably better suited to back row, and though Capewell has defensive issues, he surprised me at centre in origin.

Definitely a swap would be something to consider, especially if he is sulking around, bringing down the mood at training as eluded to...I’m sure Madge and Hartigan will get a great outcome for the club though and realistically if Kei and Talau are as good as they have been touted I’d imagine they’d be the centre pairing after Jim/Joe are gone, with Hoffman in the mix too.

If he doesn’t get over his sulking in reasonable time, then he plays CC imo.
You want to encourage more sulking, then simply reward it.
I would have thought Madge would have made Jimmy work harder for his spot, but he obviously is showing that he wants it badly. He obviously did some good work to trigger the contract upgrade.

Anyone know if Laurie is a goal kicker?

Asking for a friend.. 😀

ADs strike rate at the end of the year was pretty good . His percentage was brought down by his abysmal start . I’d say as the year went on he became more comfortable , and I’d also argue that his strike Nd purchase of the ball are pretty awesome.

No i dont disagree with that but some decent competiton even an 80% + kicker wouldnt hurt.

If memory recalls properly Doueihi had a leg muscle injury which hampered his kicking in 2020?

**Wests Tigers turn down release request from centre Paul Momirovski**

EXCLUSIVE – The Wests Tigers and Paul Momirovski are locked in a dispute that threatens to escalate after the centre had two official release requests turned down by the club.
Foxsports.com.au can reveal that the Tigers are refusing to let Momirovski leave despite informing him he would not be a first-choice centre at Concord.
The 24-year-old, who has 14 tries in 19 NRL games, has been training at five-eighth during the pre-season and has held three conversations with head coach Michael Maguire about being granted permission to leave.
Rival clubs are monitoring the situation closely, with Canterbury and Penrith keen on his services.
The Tigers, however, are digging their heels in, arguing that a roster with strong depth across the backline can only be beneficial for the club.
Momirovski did not play for the Tigers in 2020 as he headed to Melbourne as part of a loan deal involving Harry Grant.
He was encouraged to make the move to the Storm as his temporary departure would allow the Tigers to secure an NRL-standard hooker.
A hand injury curtailed his run in the Storm’s right centre spot but despite mutual interest in extending his stay at Melbourne, he went back to Concord to honour the last year of his contract.
Upon his return, the Tigers had signed James Roberts to partner Joey Leilua in the centres.
The Tigers also made a serious play for Josh Mansour before he signed for Souths a fortnight ago.
Momirovski’s release request is the third such demand from a different Tigers players in the last 18 months after Ryan Matterson and Josh Aloiai both asked to leave.
The difference for both those players is that they were walk-up starters for the Tigers being lured away by bigger deals.
Momirovski, meanwhile, is not guaranteed regular football in 2021 and wants to play every week in his preferred position.
Matterson joined Parramatta after skipping training and being put on a period of leave while Aloiai moved to Manly after frustrations in negotiations with the Tigers.

So tell me where are the days where Players competed for the position they want to play.

I have no issue with Momo wanting a release but once its requested and stated NO get on with your highly paid job.

Went to the storm last season to improve his game should have learned heaps under Bellamy. Yes we have the following players.

BJ - On last year's form lucky to be looked at 1st pick, knows need to perform in a year contract option Clubs.

JTJ - Proven performer at the Broncos but that's a few seasons back needs to have his head on right to perform.

TT - Improving with more game time viable back up option if injuries occur.

Players nowadays don't get there way they are sooks is that the culture we want around. Suck it up and perform for your position otherwise will still be 2nd rate at another club.

Yes he did miss that one, but that is another reason why we should keep him. That experience is invaluable.

Here we go with another Tigers bashing from the media.. I find it funny they don't have the same story about Daine L as he wants to move for a regular spot as well... Both are reserves

Yes it could’ve been much written differently, but instead barbs at our club were inserted all throughout the article. Whoever wrote it is just filth imo.

Penrith would not take Leilua for the same reasons we should not be counting on him to perform commensurate with his salary. Talau and Kei ahead of him everytime.

There were times last season that I may have agreed with you on that point, but this year is contract year for Joey and he has already shown signs of his willingness to get his fitness levels up to where they should be.

All he's got to do now is get a brain transplant and he will absolutely kill it this year.

Yes recall against the Bulldogs.
We should never had been in that position to kick a goal to Tie the game on fulltime, also leading at the break, Bulldogs were bottom of ladder again attitude thought we only had to show up to Win.

Well you should not state for losing the game, his overall stats were quite good and he did perform, just making my point but all good.

Agree Goal kicking in recent seasons have cost us playing finals might again this year unless % improve.

Madge not keen on moving him on and i tend to agree if other don't perform he will be playing 1st grade and he needs to realize that this club gives him more opportunity with those who are in front of him.

Meh , I’d it means we get Laurie , I say do the deal. I’d even say Hoffman is probably higher rated than momo . But each to thier own man . I’ve got no issue with him staying or going . That’s my point . He’s not the player I think we should be throwing our arms up about . He’s serviceable , we have had serviceable for the last 10 years . We need dynamic . But each to thier own .

So it seems S.Crichton is likely to agree to panthers terms and slot into fullback leaving a space in centre for momo if he can get his release. If it’s the case they have absolutely no need for Laurie as they will have edwards as a back up fullback and may and burton as back up halves. Only my guess but it seems to make a lot of sense, and to be paying big money for Crichton ud expect he will be wearing the number 1 on his back

Crichton will play centres at Penrith, they like Edwards

If Crichton is in the centres then the other centre position would be fought out between, Naden, Whare and Momo (if released), not to mention any other up and coming juniors the Panthers have waiting to make their NRL debut. Momo would still be down the pecking order at the Panthers, so maybe he is viewing the Bulldogs as his best option to play on a regular basis in the NRL.

Momorovski is better than all but Baden in that list. Jaw sr doesnt really really rate nadens defence.

Makes sense, and is all the more reason we shouldn’t let him go unless we get something decent in return, plus Laurie
