We've got plenty of depth, don't really understand why they wouldn't let him go to get Laurie in return - unless that's not a guarantee, in which case fair enough no reason to let him go for no reason.

When did Momo for Laurie become a thing? I thought Cini for Laurie was the option.

I'd be disappointed to lose him.

Since Momo asked for a release. At this stage he is a more valuable squad player.

I have no faith in BJ being a constant NRL centre all season, that’s why we don’t need release Momo.

JTJ also. I'm hoping one of them fires, and stands out with an outstanding season, but figure Talau or Momo for the other position. Odds are though one will get injured, and we will need Momo.

MBye is only a back-up centre if we get another fullback and Doueihi is fit and firing at five-eighth.

**Wests Tigers turn down release request from centre Paul Momirovski**

EXCLUSIVE – The Wests Tigers and Paul Momirovski are locked in a dispute that threatens to escalate after the centre had two official release requests turned down by the club.
Foxsports.com.au can reveal that the Tigers are refusing to let Momirovski leave despite informing him he would not be a first-choice centre at Concord.
The 24-year-old, who has 14 tries in 19 NRL games, has been training at five-eighth during the pre-season and has held three conversations with head coach Michael Maguire about being granted permission to leave.
Rival clubs are monitoring the situation closely, with Canterbury and Penrith keen on his services.
The Tigers, however, are digging their heels in, arguing that a roster with strong depth across the backline can only be beneficial for the club.
Momirovski did not play for the Tigers in 2020 as he headed to Melbourne as part of a loan deal involving Harry Grant.
He was encouraged to make the move to the Storm as his temporary departure would allow the Tigers to secure an NRL-standard hooker.
A hand injury curtailed his run in the Storm’s right centre spot but despite mutual interest in extending his stay at Melbourne, he went back to Concord to honour the last year of his contract.
Upon his return, the Tigers had signed James Roberts to partner Joey Leilua in the centres.
The Tigers also made a serious play for Josh Mansour before he signed for Souths a fortnight ago.
Momirovski’s release request is the third such demand from a different Tigers players in the last 18 months after Ryan Matterson and Josh Aloiai both asked to leave.
The difference for both those players is that they were walk-up starters for the Tigers being lured away by bigger deals.
Momirovski, meanwhile, is not guaranteed regular football in 2021 and wants to play every week in his preferred position.
Matterson joined Parramatta after skipping training and being put on a period of leave while Aloiai moved to Manly after frustrations in negotiations with the Tigers.

Here we go with another Tigers bashing from the media.. I find it funny they don't have the same story about Daine L as he wants to move for a regular spot as well... Both are reserves

I’m probably sounding like Captain Obvious but Tigers not granting a release suggests they are after something in return from whichever club he signs with.
Not sure if he is a front runner with Penrith or Bulldogs for a starting position.

He would have a better shot at Bulldogs, can't see him getting a start at Penrith...which is where we need him to go to get Laurie. This is probably the issue, we want Laurie but Momo wants a starting position.

Exactly - in fact our whole backline is very much up in the air. Apart from Nofo and AD plus to some extent BJ and Brooks there is no one else you would say was a certain starter every week. It will definitely come down to those blokes given first chance performing from the outset or being replaced by the likes of Momo. He has more chance of getting a run in NRL here than at the panthers

I guess it makes sense . He must be not good enough for Tigers if both last years grand final clubs want him.

If Penrith want Momo give us more than just Laurie. Not that it's not a fair swap as is but it seems like they really want a backup centre.

Gotta love the papers and the way they portray clubs. "Penrith are considering signing" him, makes it sound like he's unsigned. Mentions that Aloiai left after a negotiation dispute... yeah, that's what happened.

Sincere question, do you think other clubs cop as much bad press as we do? There definitely seems to me to be an agenda against us, they dig the boot in every chance they get.

But I only see what they do to us, is the media (or parts of the media) as heavily biased against other clubs in your opinion?

When we have a fully fit squad to choose from Momo doesn't make the 17, so if he doesn't want to be here move him on and replace him with somebody who does.

I'd rather get Laurie in if it's an option and add some genuine competition in a position that we're lacking depth in.

How are Tigers going to get Laurie if Penrith want to keep him for 2021 depth? It's exactly the same situation with West Tigers. The only chance would be a straight swap between Laurie and Momo. What are the chances of that happening?

Sounds like we are playing hardball. Momo won't go unless it benefits us in someway I think

How can we possibly benefit from losing Moma?

Agree with this .... if thats the swap proposal the by Panthers then, for me, its no deal. Stick with Cini scenario .... Thats a swap in our favour.

Aloiai left because we didn’t have a spot for him.

He’s only been in and around 2 premiership winning squads...would add nothing to a power house club like the tigers

The thing is Roberts and Leilua are no sure things. I wouldn't be rushing to let him go.

This is a good point. Momo's best is miles away from those two but Momo is a consistent player who will do the job.

I'd grant him the release though but ideally we'd get Laurie released as well.

If we swap Momo for a development player we are mad (even if they are part of our 1st squad plans).

I'd want a couple of juniors at least, or a fringe second rower/lock) to improve our depth in those positions.

Interesting to see how this one plays out now the manager has called in media to help the negotiations.

I wouldn’t be surprised if AD moved to lock at some point in his career? He looks to have put on some muscle and maybe his defence will be better this year.

It's pretty simple. We have no backup at fullback which Laurie provides (he can back up 6 as well). Momo is our 4th string centre. We need Laurie much more

Agree mate

Yeah , why would they wanna retain Momirovski.........He scores tries and kick goals , the club's overloaded with blokes that do that.

It’s simpler to play Moma at FB. He’s done it for us before.
Why should we get caught up trying to solve the problems of other clubs?
